OP here. Pleasantly surprised to see the thread going after all this while, despite the dearth of actual maid cosplay posts.
Recently had the opportunity to visit Tokyo, and I got to visit an actual Maid Cafe! I've never gotten to see a real girl dressed as a maid and by God, did the real thing not disappoint. Went to a quaint little place called Like a Doll in Akihabara, a somewhat gothic concept Maid Cafe that had a bit of a sombre vibe unlike the cutesy cheery atmosphere of the stuff I've seen in anime. I really quite liked the designs of their maid outfits; each of the girls had a unique outfit with different motifs and colour schemes. I really expected it to be whatever cheap Amazon.jp Halloween costume tier dress they could order in bulk that the girls would wear., but upon some subsequent googling I found the clothing brand they were partnered with, DimMoire. The stuff is real quality, and the catalogue had quite a lot of the things I really like seeing in maid cosplays. They really do just do it better over in Japan.
Picrel is a cosplayer wearing an outfit from the aforementioned brand. Will be looking to see if other cosplayers have incorporated any of their pieces into their outfits.
