>>22009448 i only got to have hungry howies once or twice before they disappeared forever. why has no other pizza place gone all in on flavored crusts?
Howies had really good subs for a chunk of my life. The bread wasn't something I could get anywhere else, nowadays there are these frozen Uno steak and cheese sandwiches, the bread is incredibly similar Howies also had small, delicious, shitty hot wings that came with a chunk of cajun bread, the cajun bread is a third of the size nowadays
>>22009448 my neighbor owns the majority of hungry howies never ate at the place but he throws the best parties and has a giant outdoor woodfired pizza oven. on the 4th of july he pays for a fireworks barge to get pulled into canals for a show for the whole neighborhood real cool dude his wife is kinda bitchy tho
>>22009448 It used to have character. But now all modern things must be streamlined and soulless slop. I remember the inside of Hungry Howie's smelling really good. Sort of how the interior to Subway used to smell like actual food.
>>22010116 >Sort of how the interior to Subway used to smell like actual food. goddamn. that is such a real detail. restaurant don't smell like food being cooked anymore. its fucking weird.
>>22009448 I knew that Hungry Howies had terrible pizza before I ever tried it, because their mascot is a blonde kid instead of a middle-aged Italian man.
>>22010292 >sic transit gloria mundi I want to go back. >>22009528 apparently they don't. it's an exported "Aussie" beer. in my limited anecdotal experience, it's VB and Tooheys.
>>22009528 They don't. Its not very popular at all in Aussie land. It started there got moderately popular like a hundred years ago and then it got imported to the US and other places. Its all just catchy marketing.
>>22011090 >*gasp* i-is that a l-link? *gulp* golly gee my mommy told me to be careful of these... B-but I can't let strangers think I'm scared *sigh* whatever shall I do...? >*chokes in excitement* EXCELSIOR! That's just it I know what I'll type! >"Not clicking. Use your words."
>>22011090 >On January 30, 1989, Kenneth Lamar Noid, a mentally ill man who believed that the "Avoid the Noid" campaign was targeted at him, entered a Domino's restaurant in Chamblee, Georgia. Armed with a .357 Magnum, Noid then held two employees hostage for over five hours.[11]
>After ranting to the employees about how Domino's owner Tom Monaghan had stolen his name, Noid forced them to call the Domino's headquarters to demand $100,000 and a white limousine as a getaway car.[11] He offered to exchange a hostage for a copy of the novel The Widow's Son by Robert Anton Wilson, but reneged on this when an officer brought him the book.[11] Noid then became hungry and forced the captive employees to make him two pizzas.[11] While Noid ate the pizzas with his gun in his lap, the hostages escaped.[11] Noid surrendered to the police shortly after.[12] Two shots were fired by Noid during the incident, both of them hitting the ceiling.[13]
>Noid was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, extortion, and possession of a firearm during a crime. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity.[14][15] Noid subsequently spent time in a mental institution, but died by suicide on February 23, 1995.[9][16] This incident was widely believed to have caused Domino's Pizza to discontinue advertising using the Noid as their mascot,[17] but this claim has been rejected by the company and their advertisers.[18]
>>22009460 >>22009470 I used to love howies, they really stood out with the flavored crusts. this was the one near where i lived 10+ years ago it was pretty busy usually, right next to the college and directly across from one of the dorms. they ran good deals and i'd go there often because it was closer to my apartment up the street than dominos or pizza hut. it was the only pizza place i've been to that had chicken tenders available as a topping. they had it listed as "crispy chicken" on the menu but it was just the tenders/boneless wings or whatever cut into pieces, i'd get that with black olives and some flavored crust. looks like they're closed now and there isn't one near me anymore
>>22011112 This guy looks like someone who would post this only to look back on it with no replies and say >heh, almost got pents. Im so fucking cool to 4chan
>>22010709 >apparently they don't. it's an exported "Aussie" beer. in my limited anecdotal experience, it's VB and Tooheys. Each state has it's own core beers because of the distance it made it hard to export across the country. Although in modern times it's far less standard, and some don't exist any more or had production moved interstate so they are no longer viewed as properly local products. Victoria Bitter, Carlton Draught for Victoria Tooheys, KB, Resch for NSW XXXX and Great Northern for Queensland Coopers and West End for South Australia. Swan, Emu Export. Boags & Cascade for Tasmania NT Draught until it got shut down. There's also a fancy beer called Crown Lager that is our equivalent of Champagne.
>>22012513 Mr. Delicious was unironically ahead of its time. Unfortunately being 40 years ahead of your time doesn't count for a whole lot when you suck in the present day. He's funny today but in the 80's it was just weird.
>>22009448 Picrel was an actually pretty decent feed back in the day Sadly doesn't exist anymore where I live >>22009586 HAPPY'S PIZZA LOST THEY MIND NINE NINETY NINE NINE NINETY NINE https://youtu.be/0HbCKgLrtUQ
>>22009945 The eternal fryman. Every second place in Holland used to have their resident fryman. I do not know how or why they dissapeared, but one day no one had them anymore. I guess they got genocided because kids thought they were scary.
>>22012513 Shame he didn't last longer. Imagine the burn if he said in a modern advert >People have asked: Why "You can eat here"? >When you take into account the state of our competition, that distinction becomes quite important.
>>22010863 I've got a lot of fond memories playing his video game. Ironically, the Noid incident happened when I was young enough that I don't even remember him as a dominoes mascot and was baffled to learn that the yo-yo flinging skateboarding rabbit thing was actually the antagonist.
>>22009448 >>22015587 asian stuff has an above-average number of mascots that are just asian men giving you optimistic hand signals to reassure you that the product is good.
