I accidentally forgot black berries in my fridge a couple weeks ago, went on vacation for a week, came back and they were perfectly fine. I ate half of the container and they still tasted amazing.
>>
I buy the bags of frozen berries.
>>
>>22013650
what are those actually good for though? only use I've ever had for them is smoothies and stuff, but usually when I want breeze it's because I want to enjoy eating them fresh

There are no tips. The lemons you bought were stored in a warehouse for 6 months before being put on the shelf to buy. They have optimized the system so that every piece of fruit and vegetable you buy is basically 1 day away from rotting. Every single onion and garlic clove has a green sprout in the center, every single potato is a day from sprouting roots, and every single piece of fruit is just on the verge of turning into moldy mush.
>>
>>22011910
shoulda froze them an made a smoothie.

>They have optimized the system so that every piece of fruit and vegetable you buy is basically 1 day away from rotting
This, coupled with the fact that literally nobody in the production or distribution systems has any incentive to give a fuck.
>farmer just an overseer for subsidiary of megacrop which has non-negotiable contract with another subsidiary
>picker and packer immigrants might get disappeared at any time, just pushing quantity over quality for that day's pay
>freight guy just operator for some other megacorp subsidiary, half the time it's some lowest-bidder 3rd party with logistics being ran by dropouts that couldn't get a CDL
>warehousing just a bunch of addicts that only know that the temp gauge is supposed to match what's on the sticker next to the temp gauge, while being supervised by a recovering addict
>grocery employees just the very bottom rung of another megacorp, who are half braindead from lack of proper scheduling because the one manager that audits schedules is too busy trying to fuck their subordinate with a spouse finding out, and they've all been directed to just give another piece of fruit to bitching customers
the best part?
>the government organizations that act as checks and balances for the quality and safety of all this have been systematically gutted for 40 years because boomers grew up in a such a playground that they've been conned to think those playground guardrails are part of a cabal that will summon satan and take away their toys
Seriously. Produce especially has gotten really bad in the past 10 years.
It's gone from
>eat this so there's room for new groceries
to
>omg i have to eat this within 2 days or its $10 wasted on a few ounces of fruit

freeze them, dry them.
>>
>>22011910
eat/cook what you buy when you buy it
>>
>>22014956
Ethylene gas absorber probably, you can buy them online, they work great for fresh fruit but because of >>22014433 they won't work for you.
>>
>>22013657
Different anon but I think bagged frozen blueberries hold up well for eating at room temp (and bagged cherries too even though not berry)
>>
>>22011910
in my experience, raspberries and strawberries hold up quite well with some strawberries just becoming unpleasant because of bruising

blackberries are hell though, they go moldy almost immediately and worse than that, they seem to get stealth mold on the inside, so you can bite into a berry that looks and feels perfectly normal on the day you bought them and you get a fermentation party in your mouth

>fermentation party in your mouth
what does that mean
>>
frozen berries are a nice treat to just eat frozen in the summer.
>>
>>22011910
>he doesn't ignore the mold and consume anyways
>>
>>22011910
Wash both berries and container in diluted vinegar. Air dry on towels. Put folded paper towel in bottom of container. Put berries in. Put folded paper towel on top of berries. Close container. Store in fridge.
>>
they are actually moldy the day they arrive at the store. The produce clerks just pull out the noticeable ones for the display
>>
>>22019050
>clerks
they don't really even have those anymore anon
