Where can I get basic bitch uncoated stainless steel pots and pans that don't cost several hundred dollars? My mother has destroyed yet another "non-stick" pan, this time it was a "ceramic" GreenPan™. She refuses to touch cast iron, claims it's too much trouble to clean and maintain. She needs something that can survive being brutalized by high heat, metal utensils, and general incompetence. Plain stainless steel is the only thing I can think of that fits the bill.
>>22015983 restaurant supply store. you can get a stainless steel pan that's the same thing restaurants are bullying in the kitchen all day for like $35
>>22015983 you can literally buy them at Walmart for under 50 bucks. they won't be the highest quality but steel is steel. worst case is they're just gonna be a little thin or whatever. they're still fine.
>>22016036 My local Walmart has Teflon coated pans, ceramic coated pans, diamond coated pans, and cast iron pans, but no plain uncoated stainless steel pans.
>>22015983 What is it with boomers refusing to understand that non stick pans need to be touched with kid gloves? They always rape them (steel tools, dishwasher...) and then complain
>>22016059 >>22016226 just get them on amazon if your local stores don't have them. there's lots under $100 and even under $50. in my experience with cheap stainless steel, the only real downsides are thinness and susceptibility to pitting. so they don't retain heat quite as well but it's not really gonna be an issue for most people. and the pitting is just visual, it's not going to hurt you. otherwise, they hold up fine. it's steel. go closer to the $100 range if you want to be safe.
>>22016397 You also have to get the pan ridiculously hot and use oil (a high smoke-point oil or you're in for a visit from the fire department) for it to be nonstick.
>>22016397 Stainless steel doesn't give a shit what you do with it. It's the least fragile kind of pot you can own. You are probably thinking of cast iron.
>>22017064 Just use a nonstick pan/pot if you need it to be nonstick. Stainless is great for dishes where you deglaze anyway like stews and sauces. Different tools for different applications.
>>22016005 yeah this. i bought a bunch of kitchen supplies in 2015 and all them are still functioning perfectly. you can even buy those fancy restaurant rubber spatulas
