Usually Tanaka likes the girl a lot and wants to give them a performance boost, like Shigure. A big reason is also to modernize their art like the Kongous, which circles back to your point because it isn't fair that ships like Hiryuu get beefy third remodels with modern art while ships like Aoba or Takao/Atago are stuck with 14+ year old art which is incredibly flat or underdetailed, and have to contend with the same performance they had years ago.

Are you using Sammy and Johnston for a quest? If yes, then work on getting Cranes and an FBB to kai ni, then come back, if not, then switch them out for DDs with good night battle stats. Her armor isn't that high, so most kai ni DDs should be able to kill her even with double attack.

i grinded a shitton of the event to marry my wife. that was my goal for the trip. fortunately events give a lot more xp than normal maps but it was still rough.
the arcade game is really fucking fun. such a shame this was the last event most likely and with the card supply situation it's just fucked. quite a shame to see it go like this and i felt a bit sentimental after leaving the arcade for the probably last time.

i didn't keep count because i played some last year too. at 100 runs (trusting your calculation), if you only did e3, it'd be 30k yen. 300 yen per run with drop. but i did a few full clears before grinding e3 only, so i spent more than that. and marriage is another 700(?) yen per card
