Fantasy or Sci-Fi? Would you rather be a bold bisexual space explorer, discovering new worlds and romancing the alien inhabitants? Or a beautiful peasant boy (or girl or enby, you get the point) swept off his/her/their feet by a heroic knight, and taken on adventures of derring-do??

FAQ:
>Am I bi if I like women and femboys/traps?
>Am I bi if there's this one member of the same-sex I'm desiring, but normally I like the opposite sex?
>Am I bi if I sexually like both sexes, but only interested in romance with one of them?
Yes, sexual attraction to both sexes is bisexuality.
>What's the difference between bisexual and pansexual?
Only difference is that our flag is prettier.
>Am I bi if i have periods where I feel only attracted to women and others where I feel only attracted to men?
This is known as the bi-cycle and many bisexuals experience it.
>Am I bi or am I 'prison gay' or porn addicted?
'Prison gay' is not a real thing and porn addiction does not alter your sexual orientation. You are bi.
>Am I bi or pan if I like trans people?
Both are able to be attracted to trans people.
>I think I might be bi but I can't tell. How can I be certain?
Just make a point to check out members of the sex you think you might be attracted to and see if anyone grabs your attention.
>Should I be harsh on myself?
You should be kind on yourself. Few people will do it for you

How bout it gang? Would you rather have a tussle in the hayloft with a rakish bard, or get railed on the holodeck by a virile klingon?

Near-future Sci-Fi has always been the coolest setting IMO. When it's not so far removed from the present day that it may as well be fantastical (like spaceship battles and shit) you get the chance to bounce ideas around with how the world could be like in 20 or 30 years or whatever. With fantasy you're much more restricted to medieval stuff and what not so there simply aren't as many different directions you can go with it.
>>
>>43519851
Yeah I think that's probably my favorite genre of sci fi as well. I've read a lot more sci fi than fantasy in general though. Clarke, Lem, and the Strugatsky brothers are probably my favorites. I need to read more contemporary sci fi- I liked The Three Body Problem triology quite a bit.

As far as erotic/romantic daydreams go, I think I might prefer fantasy. Getting swept off my feet by a handsome knight sounds great.
>>
>>43518908
>QOTT
Honestly it depends. Both genres can be compelling and fulfilling but both can also be dumb as hell. And often science fiction just ends up actually being a fantasy set in space.
>>

Dating myself but the Terre d'Ange series by Jacqueline Carey is one of my favourite all time series and probably what woke me up to being both bisexual and kinky.

I feel like I'm more likely to run into pervert-enabling situations and technologies in the sci-fi world, unless the fantasy one is both HIGH fantasy and horny

I haven’t heard of the terre d’Ange series. Can you make it pitch for it? What about it made you aware of your bisexuality? Is it… spicy? D:

>>43520799
That, my friend, is an excellent point.

>>43520465
Do you like Ursula K. Le Guin? I feel like a lot of her sci fi is kind of fantasy in space, but in a good way.

>>43520851
Cowboy Bebop is so good. Love the show, and it’s such a good setting. I feel like it would be a great basis for a sci fi d&d campaign
>>
>>43521150
Hmm… maybe, but you’ve also got things like “the stocks” and chastity belts in ye olde settings. Sure a lot of that stuff is later Victorian era fake history, but we’re talking fantasy not historically accurate medieval times or whatever.

Also magic seems like it could enable all sorts of horny shenanigans lol

Sci-fi would be cool as long as it's not cucked like our real world. I can only dream of being able to explore or go on adventures with a bf. Really hard to do that these days there's not much to explore and everything's a tourist trap or private property.

>Can you make it pitch for it?
Alternate-history medieval Europe where the state religion includes a cult to the god of BDSM, essentially. The society has permissive views on sexuality, and believe all people are some degree of bisexual and that love and sex are holy. Sort of Games of Thrones vibes with the medieval court political drama and dense fantasy world building.

Sorta flipped a lot of switches for me in high school.

>>
>>43525509
Are you male or female? Just wondering if this would have been a same sex or hetero date.

It hasn’t happened to me firsthand, but I’ve seen a bunch of people on bigen report similar experiences. Gay people assume bisexuals aren’t really gay enough; or that we can’t be relied on for an ltr because we’ll eventually freak out and dump them for a partner we can have kids with. I’ve seen a bunch of bi guys here say they’ve had straight women turned off by them being bi, I guess because they essentially just see us as gay. I’m guessing straight dudes generally don’t care if women are bi, but I think that’s more to do with them being porn brained meatheads than anything else lol.

These obviously aren’t universal rules, but anecdotally yes plenty of gay and straight people dislike bisexuals. I’ve been lucky and only ever dated other bi people, so it’s never been an issue for me.
>>
Most bi guys end up with women. This is 100% because obviously most of the people who'll date a man are women but it's still something that gay guys have in the back of their minds when dealing with us. It took quite a bit of effort to convince my gay boyfriend that I'm serious about him. Like he was shocked when he found out I'd told people I was seeing him
>>
>>43522947
Oh that’s interesting. Is the idea behind the BDSM cult like it’s the elements of self flagellation in Christianity dialed up to 11 and made sexy?

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll keep it in mind next time I’m looking for a fantasy series.

Exploring strange new worlds with your cute boyfriend is a very appealing fantasy. Preferably on a heavily customized spaceship that acts as your home as well as your mode of transportation. A window over the bed so you can look up at the stars while you cuddle would be nice too.

I probably should have questioned if he's okay with my being bi after he asked but didn't think about it at the time.
He said he's "100% gay", sounded like he's proud of it, so perhaps there's something to it.

He was looking for ltr and so was I

Well, onto the next one I guess

>>43526080
Surprisingly the two bi guys I know irl said their gay dates never had an issue with it. Maybe they got lucky I guess

>I probably should have questioned if he's okay with my being bi after he asked but didn't think about it at the time.
He said he's "100% gay", sounded like he's proud of it,
Yeah that sounds like he’s not into bi guys. Oh well, at least you weren’t vibing with him to begin with.

>Perhaps I should just put bisexual in my dating app bio
That would certainly screen out anyone who’d have a problem dating a bisexual, but it might shrink your dating pool quite a bit. I honestly don’t know how pervasive the anti bi bias is, so I don’t know how much having it listed on profile might impact things. I feel like people tend to be more judgmental and likely to make snap decisions when flipping through profiles on a dating app versus when they’re talking to someone in person. My point being that some guys might skip past your profile if you’re listed as bi, but if they actually met you irl it wouldn’t be dealbreaker.

I would definitely tell anyone I wanted to date long term I was bi. It’s pretty important to how I see myself, and I don’t think I’d get along with anyone who had a problem with that.
>>
For men I mostly just like twinks. A little body hair or a little fat is fine, but still mostly twink adjacent. On rare occasions I find big boys attractive.

For women I LOVE fat ones or at least solidly chubby ones. Slim women just look like stock images to me.

I would like to have kids but I hate the idea of adopting in a gay relationship.

I may be a turbo virgin who hasn't been in a real relationship, but which side should I go for? Get shunned for being "gay" or get shunned for liking fat bitches?
>>
>>43526336

>>
>>43526432

>>
>>43526304
>My point being that some guys might skip past your profile if you’re listed as bi, but if they actually met you irl it wouldn’t be dealbreaker.

I'm worried about that too, especially for women.
My assumption would've been that it would reduce the amount of men somewhat but basically zero out the women lol

I'm not planning to keep it secret for a serious ltr of course
>>
>>43526448
I don't wanna be fat... I already work out :(

I don't wanna be fat simply because it's unhealthy, which is another thing to consider when trying to date a fatty
>>
>>43526494
Hmm… maybe try leaving it off your profile for now, and just tell people you match with early on you’re bi. Then if you keep running into people who react badly you can add it to your profile to pre screen the haters.

I’ve been in a relationship for years now though, so I’m not really sure what the state of online dating is currently. I don’t even know what the major apps are at this point. So maybe take my advice with a grain of salt lol

It's strange that this is mostly a women (straight or bi) disliking bi men thing, while men almost never see it as a problem if women are bi.
>>
>>43528934
I mean I think this is mainly straight dudes excited about the idea of potentially getting to have mff three ways. I imagine a lot of straight men wouldn’t actually enjoy dating a lot of bi women though, because they’re less likely to conform to traditional gender roles.
>>
>>43526944
>I have heard that cis bisexual women always end up with straight cis men. If they find out that their bf sucked dick, they will leave him. Even if they claim to be bi.

I am a bisexual cis f and yes, this happens a lot. It's part of the reason only my closest friends know that I'm bisexual. To most people in my life I'm just "gay" or "queer". Some people probably assume I'm a theyfab, but I'm not.

I'm gonna guess around 80% (number pulled from my ass) of "bisexual" women are bisexual for male attention and to be "edgy" and "quirky" and are not actually attracted to women in any meaningful way and are often repulsed by male bisexuality. They're just bigtime hypocrites.
>>
Something about me just makes other people shun me. My whole life, school years up to adulthood. Something about me and the way I am gets me excluded from even the most low stakes social interaction. My vibes are bad. I don't know what it is about me or my personality. If I did I would change it.
>>
I met a girl recently at a sport I'm doing, but unfortunately we haven't been able to meet up much for it. At times she seems very interested and happy to text, while other times she doesn't reply for a few days.
At first I figured she just has an avoidant personality, but the more I think about it the more I'm starting to suspect that she is autistic, or at least has autistic traits - not just from her texts mind you, but her expressions, body language, our conversations etc.
I'm not really sure where to go from here though - on the one hand I had considered asking her out, but on the other hand I know that if she actually is autistic then dating her would probably be rough... I suppose I should just get to know her better first.
>>
Why am I bi but only attracted to queer people? This shit is basically forcing me to be gay.

Yeah I didn’t really get that I was bi until college. I don’t think I’d been actively repressing it, I just hadn’t seriously considered it an option. >Fantasy or Sci-Fi?
It's genuinely hard to pick. I feel like SF generally has more interesting concepts, cultural relevance, philosophical depth etc. But there is a lot of untapped potential in fantasy. It's sad that fantasy writers usually default to the same generic medieval setting and recycled LOTR tropes. If I had the attention span to write a genre fiction book, I'd write a fantasy novel influenced more by antiquity than by the medieval period. It would, of course, expound the virtues of brutal authoritarian rule and racial purity, and there would be a lot of gay stuff in there

>"born that way" is nonsense
The alternative would be that it's a choice and/or decided by your environment. But who the fuck would choose to be gay in places like Saudi Arabia or Iran?
>>
>>43538154
My theory is that it works like this: everyone is bisexual -> people built more or less effective barriers around a part of their sexuality, thus becoming "gay" or "straight" -> for some people, those barriers erode or change over time -> most people literally cannot erode them in adulthood, thus giving the impression of immutable sexuality ("born that way")
my source for this is divine guidance, ancestral intuition, bibliomancy
>>
>>43538189
>My theory is that it works like this: everyone is bisexual
Complete nonsense; the world would look very different if everyone was actually bisexual deep down.
>my source for this is divine guidance, ancestral intuition, bibliomancy
Nevermind, you convinced me.
>>
>>43538250
>the world would look very different if everyone was actually bisexual deep down.
Uh, no. "Straight" people are not aware of their same-sex attraction. But they can be made aware of it, which is why there's so much social contagion going on right now. My theory explains this very neatly, much better than "born that way"
>>
>>43538273
In all seriousness, I think it's pretty much the same as with left-handedness. As being left-handed became more acceptable more people would report being left-handed, but with the curve representing left-handedness flattening out over time at 10-12%. I have no idea what the percentage of actual bisexuals are, but I doubt it's more than that.
>>
>>43538295
The world was actually better when we retrained left-handed people to be normal. They can't even use fountain pens properly, they need weird hand posture to cope, etc. I pity them
>>
>>43538308
Funnily enough there's a correlation between left-handedness and being gay. Don't know if that counts for bi as well.
>>
>>43536715
Bisexuals are actually born that way. It's monosexuals who pick a side.

Correction: the world would look very different if everyone accepted their bisexuality deep down

It's unironically 50/50. Sometimes he's receptive, sometimes he will get aggressive or be dismissive. He's someone in a small-ish circle of friends so it won't be a total ghost as much as just avoiding any extended conversations.
>>
>>43543488
That blows. I knew a guy like that. You couldn't tell him anything but then turned around and was shocked when people started drifting away. Never any introspection on his part. Just a perpetual victim complex and bad attitude.

>>

Too bad about the control freak DM. D&D is mostly just an excuse to chill with friends even when it's being run well. I try to keep some forward moment going with the campaigns I run, but I'm fine with the players fucking around and cracking jokes. The only thing that really gets on my nerves is if one person ends up monopalizing the conversation and other people don't get a chance to weigh in. We've got like 6-7 players and we do it as a video chat through discord, so it's easy for people to get drowned out.

I've always liked Picard as well. So serious and dutiful. Pestering him would be a delight. He and Q have the perfect marriage.
>>

They really do, but picard to me is too much of a twink imo, nothing wrong with that, he's very respectable and would probably give me a night I'd never forget, but I reapect his relationship with Q too much to dare muddle that

What the fuck is a bicycle
>>
>>43548476
It’s not something I’ve experienced personally, but I’ve seen other people on here talk about going through periods where they’re more attracted, or even exclusively attracted, to one sex. So they might go through years just liking men, and then years of just women. people refer to this process as a “bi cycle”, if that’s what you were asking about.

Alternatively it’s those two wheeled things you sometimes see people zipping around on. Not the loud ones, those are called “motorcycles”.
>>
>>43549284
Actually informative response, great job anon I was not expecting that. I was just memeing but now have come away from this interaction with more insight on the bi-cycular pattern that some fellow bi people seem to have. Me personally im mostly attracted to feminine people, but some masc-y folks do it for me too lol, it's more like a tricycle with the front, larger wheel being fems and the rear, smaller wheels being mascs
>>
>>43549336
I figured it was a goof, but thought I’d offer up some info in case it wasn’t :) I like your tricycle analogy for your own proclivities lol

Every day I get a little closer to pulling the trigger. I've been reading accounts of other people's suicides and all I can think of is how lucky they are that they don't have to be here anymore. I remember my friends who've committed suicide and remember how furious I am at them. I've wanted to be dead since I was ten or younger. I've done therapy, taken medication for twenty years, nothing has made a dent. This life is all we get and it's so not worth it. The only thing that keeps me from going through with it is my partner. It would destroy her if I killed myself.

Is bisexuality still good in your thirties or is it all just
>closet gay men cheating on their wives
>weird swinger couples
>losers too weird/unattractive/autistic to talk to girls
I used to put a leg over the other side of the fence when I was younger but that was before I became a grown ass man with hemorrhoids and beer shits and it became tougher to play "pretend I'm a girl"
>>
girl talked to me today, help i dont want to get married
>>
>>43553676
I mean maybe I fall under weird swinger couple cuz my wife is a bi fujo (although we haven't had a threesome yet), but I still enjoy being bisexual in my 30s. I don't see the problem. Even if I only ever sleep with my wife for the rest of my life, I'm still bi.

Also if you have hemorrhoids consider checking with a proctologist or something, it's usually pretty easy to resolve.
>>
>>43553676
30s and still bi, though with a long term partner

based

>>43553676
Also in my 30's and bi in an ltr. I think a lot more people in their 30's are in relationships vs doing casual dating. This means you're more likely to be sticking with one person for a long time, and thus you're not re-upping the bi part of your bisexuality as often.

Having said all that I'm feeling at least as bi now as I have at any previous point my life.

Near future sci fi will be data centers, AI replacing every aspect of human life and break down of social fabric. We will all be living in section 8 housing with govt UBI where we mindlessly turn to entertainment to distract ourselves. You'll be too poor to explore but have enough money to eat, sleep and play AI generated vidya. There's no cyberpunk future or anything human just humans becoming less relevant and machines taking over with few on top.
>>43520005
Aliens are just sci-fi rehashing demons in modern setting. No alien race will travel light years to come to a planet like ours to conquer. It's human ego thinking we're so special that once aliens become aware of our existence they'll try to invade us.
>>
>>43520005
Btw few people in three body problem who worship and work with aliens who are light years away is just demonic cultists communicating with demons.
>>

No, that's reality. I want science FICTION lmao
>>
>>43520851
>a tough one between the worlds of cowboy bebop and space dandy

We will never explore stars , see space or have faster than light travel any time soon. Your future is living in block A1 room 56 with water , food and meager spending money cause most human jobs have been automated and few are left for exceptional best. You'll die alone in a dark room cause you lack financial independence to roam.
>>
>>43521602
>Sci-fi would be cool as long as it's not cucked like our real world. I can only dream of being able to explore or go on adventures with a bf. Really hard to do that these days there's not much to explore and everything's a tourist trap or private property.

You don't have a ship of your own now but think any random guy can get a spaceship in future to travel with?
>>
>>43560604
Maybe in the future, (not in our lifetimes), but today's equivalent would be buying an RV or a travel trailer.
>t. 1.5 years living in an RV
>>
>>43560591
>No, that's reality. I want science FICTION lmao

If you want sci fi cyberpunk space operas you'd destroy AI right now. Imagine Star Wars but instead of human commanders , pilots or soldiers it was all robots. There'd be no drama , high stakes or emotional twists when it's just machines vs machines.

There'd can only be a future with humans or AI you can't have both. What prospects do humans have when you go through school, college and learn but an AI trained in a year does it better and no company has an interest in teaching you ropes. Biggest enemy to mankind isn't immigration, climate change or meteors but slow decline of man where he offshores his mental faculty to machines. There'll be no artists , musicians , designers , coders or it'll be fringe when normie can say make me gay Star Wars fan fic anime for me with 12 episode in blink of an eye.
>>43560628
There's no future for humans until every data center is destroyed
>>
>>43560668
>There's no future for humans until every data center is destroyed
Yeah it sucks and they're just building more. Word has it they're building a bunch of AI data centres in Vancouver and Kamloops BC Canada and it has the government's full support and some funding (and this is the company that got caught masking its customer service phone agents accents with AI)
>>
>>43560547
Yeah but which one would you rather be? Or pick a secret third option if you prefer!

>>43560582
Sure sure, anyone can tell you that’s the most likely near future we’re heading toward. But again do you wanna woo hot aliens, or go on adventures with a handsome knight? Or again, an unnamed third option!
>>
>>43560628
>Maybe in the future, (not in our lifetimes), but today's equivalent would be buying an RV or a travel trailer.

We won't have capital or money to do that in future though anon. We will all be as poor as a North Korean citizen who's given basic minimum to survive. You'll be a drag to society consuming energy , food and water while contributing nothing to it , a relic of past that continues to persist. If our overlords are compassionate liberals they'll allow you to live your days in a opium den until your demise but if it's Elon he will personally see fit of your genes are worth continuing then send a drone to kill you if your genetic potential is below grade C.

>>43560698
>Yeah it sucks and they're just building more. Word has it they're building a bunch of AI data centres in Vancouver and Kamloops BC Canada and it has the government's full support and some funding (and this is the company that got caught masking its customer service phone agents accents with AI)

These are equivalent of mass immigration but instead of blue collar jobs they'll take every middle class job that allows you to live well off life. It might not be Tommorow or in 5 years but it'll be inevitable to point that entry level jobs will stop existing. And worse of it all the more you use AI the dumber you get in same way you don't work a muscle you'll lose it. And this is happening in formative years of Gen alpha and gen z anon where you can open google doc's who can write your essay for you, make a presentation, cater images and research for you. You'll become so dependent on AI that you won't function without it and those who resist will not be hired.
>>43560727
How does it not make you mad that your whole future is being stolen from you anon? How can you not hate AI when it's existence is to solely destroy human utility while only profiting those who had capital.
>>
>>43560668
You understand that sci-fi doesn't necessarily have to conform to what the real world is going to look like in the future, right?
>>
>>43560778
Sci fi is humans attempts at predicting future whether dystopian or utopian anon. It can use plots as boat for these purposes but any good scifi is presenting itself as a warning or dream for human to aspire for. Star Trek , Star Wars , three body problem , ghost in shell , matrix , Prometheus and terminator. They all give us a small glimpse into a potential curry for human kind

Oh believe me I’m aware of this and mad about it. I’m an illustrator, so this topic has been top of mind for me for something like 4 years now. I have accepted that I dearly love two men in my life and will continue to do so no matter what.

The first one I fooled around with before he started a relationship with a woman. We're all friends. I urged him to go for her because it's healthier. I regret it sometimes, even though I feel it's correct. We still have a special bond and there's a mutual respect and connection that I think will never break. It's both nice and hurtful but in a weirdly content way.

The second is another friend that's going through tough times and I'm helping him as much as I can. He says he's straight, but I can't shake the feeling there's something there. We discussed my feelings for him, I almost blundered and ruined the relationship once, but because of that we now have an extremely honest and caring friendship - we cook, exercise, hang out together as much as we can. We send each other good mornings when we wake up. We stay up until 3AM talking about life. He says he feels comfortable with me and that makes me all fuzzy inside.

I've started dating around again and am hoping to have these feelings with a woman, but I have realised I fucking love these two dudes. I'd die for them. I want to express my love for them both, all the time, in any shape or form. Makes life worth living.

I'm just yapping here, thanks for reading my blog. I hope you feel love (and loved) the same way.
>>
>>43561971
That's nice you have that kind of close loving relationship with a couple guys. I have some really long running friendships like that.

Any consideration to dating men? Why just women?
>>
>>43562016
I've never had anything good or healthy with a woman. They either weren't interested in me (which is fine) or it was manipulative BS. Men were mostly just casual fun, but I had some nice friendships come out of hookups. I'm not opposed to dating men, but I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone and focus on finding a GF. Before I used to do something like that while trying to ignore the feelings I already have for others that didn't want me, but now I came to realise it's pointless. Instead of replacing these feelings, I'll just accept them and try to move on. Life has improved significantly over the past year, now I'm trying to focus on my health, weight loss, general well being, so trying to date again is part of it. No results yet, but I just started.

I hope your friendships stay strong, too. Thanks for listening!
