Darby isn't a complete shitter, but he's not worthy of main event status in a mainstream promotion. There are ways that a smaller wrestler, whose size naturally casts him as the underdog in most matches, can work while also coming across as a credible world champion contender. Danielson did this better than anyone, but Darby doesn't seem to understand that he needs to adjust his style. The entire roster looks weak when he's the guy holding the top prize.
I'm not going to be that dramatic about it, but seems like the same thing that happened when he won the TNT title. He had a great debut, dramatic feud with Cody, wasn't overexposed, had a big spot now and then, and immediately started getting random matches spammed seemingly weekly that were completely based around doing spotz for the sake of spotz over and over to the point I stopped caring.
i'll say it again, darby ends up with weird shit scheduled because he wants to backflip on the moon or whatever, and with the way he wrestles he'll be effectively retired before 40, so strike while the iron is still hot and not crippled or not busy cartwheeling over crocodiles or whatever, i lost my metaphor but you get the picture
