>When Vivec City was built is unknown and its origins are deep rooted in the Tribunal Temple's mythology. Vivec's 36 lessons claimed it was founded in the days of Resdaynia,[3] referring to the Chimer's ancient name for Morrowind. The province received its modern name sometime after the first eruption of Red Mountain in 1E 668.[15] The events that lead to the city's founding in the 24th sermon take place after the Skyrim Conquests in the third century, as established in previous sermons.[16][17] The historical-fiction series Poison Song dates Vivec City's initial construction in the aftermath of the War of the First Council and Sun's Death,[18][19] which in the series' given timeline is roughly 1E 685.[20][Note 1]

POV: Indoril nobles look on in horror from their island chapel while the Empire and other houses carve up Vvardenfell
>>
>>738747721
They're flipping it so that the palace itself is closer to red mountain, protecting the city, and the front of the city facing the sea is more sensible in the context of a vvardenfell that isn't a lone island in the void, vivec actually being a port city at the centerpoint of two of the biggest water channels in tamriel next to the niben
Additionally, the sides now being the main land entry makes more sense for vvardenfell rather than having silt striders and gondolas go an extra mile just to sit in the obvious-last-minute-placeholder-location in front of the foreign quarter
>>
>>738718236
It's so gay to literally just put a Berserk creature in.
Can I join the dev team and add Princess Celestia from the horse show since random pop culture references to things devs like are cool? Unicorns are at least TES canon.

But the lesson that should've been learned from almas thirr was not "wow, everyone really loves having to walk around this big ass building exterior", that's why TR is planning to move that silt strider from the opposite side
The vanilla cantons are like if you took an american mall meant to be circumnavigated with a car, replaced 70% of the interior stores with long winding hallways, and placed it in an ancient village where nobody has carts or horses
There's a fucking reason bethesda wanted it to look like this and only came up with the closed canton design late in development as a cope when the beta build ran like shit on the xbox

Morrowind's music is such a vibe. Admittedly there aren't as many tracks as you get in Oblivion or Skyrim but I can remember getting annoyed or bored at those games' music whilst Morrowind I'd settle in for no matter how often they repeat
>>
>>738752882
The title theme annoys me sometimes, it naturally stands out more than the others
Really the main improvements the later games introduced was separate music for different spaces and restricting combat music interruptions more, which I'm glad mods introduce
Very sad vibes to go from plain to volcano to city to dungeon to temple and have the same track playing the entire time occasionally intercut with the cliff racer alarm

God help us if the extra Mournhold assets get finished and they start feeling themselves a little too much, Almalexia getting slotted in the schedule might crash and burn everything else

The city was founded in the First Era. Vivec's crib/temple is the oldest building, and the temple-related cantons (Temple, Saint Delyn and Saint Olms) were built after his ascension to godhood. The Great Houses and Arena cantons were built in the Second Era, while the Foreign Quarter was built early in the Third Era.

Is there anything redeeming about the Hlaalu? Playing as them you get the feeling of being a slimy opportunist which is so fun. But they have no aspect to them that is slightly redeeming. All the other Houses by contrast have something awesome about them. The Redoran have their military pride to counterbalance their ineptitude when it comes to statesmanship. The Telvanni have their cool magic which makes up for them being an incoherent collection of psychos. The Indoril have their religious autism which gives them a mystique and a huge degree of authority, along with a genuine care for the people of Morrowind.
Even the Dres who we know almost nothing about and are largely as seen as completely “evil”, have something interesting going on with their adherence to the 3 Good Daedra (while still respecting the Tribunal) and deriving their identity from slavery and their fighting against the Argonians.
Hlaalu has no other identity besides being the house of slimy merchants.
>>
>>
>>
>>738779351
But even that is two faced as they only suck up to the Imperials while half of them are controlled by the Camonna Tong. And they have some of the biggest slave plantations too.
>>738779671
I guess so, but this too falls under slimy opportunist. Maybe I’m just being unrealistic.
>>
>>738779303
hate the Hlaalu as any man worth their saltrice, but, you've got to admire being able to quickly adapt to market changes, political musical chairs, and maybe even the fact that they seem to actually care about making Morrowind not just a kwama egg harvesting shithole, but to actually be a trading power, until they just couldn't keep power, got kicked and replaced by that other House I can't recall now, the other Houses really are just fucking shit at opening, maintaining, or improving any trade routes, look at how 1000 fucking Drakes are a church fixing donation to the fucking Imperial Cult, Redoran are stingy tightpurses that will only get worker strikes every month with their terrible business acumen, and the Telvanni are too busy in their own daughterwife cloning facilities or murdering each other to prove theyre hot shit.

Ted Peterson implied that he was told to get write slavery out of the setting by Bethesda, presumably (by me not him) because it's scary for the modern audiences they were chasing in Oblivion onwards
Doesn't excuse the way he went about doing it tho, writing the Great Houses as if they were generic feudal european houses that solve shit through dynastic marriages and pathetic puppet king Helseth as some Hlaalu big boss who singlehandedly convinced the Dres to give up the thing their culture and economy revolves around by marrying the beautiful Dres princess of Bodrum (a Redoran city)
>>
>>738780374
>Doesn't excuse the way he went about doing it tho, writing the Great Houses as if they were generic feudal european houses that solve shit through dynastic marriages
To be fair is this system less realistic than political factions that form around muh warriors or muh magic?
>>
>>
>>738780318
That implies that they had no other plans (especially when fucking EVERYONE was anticipating the Empire to collapse soon it wasn't some weird conspiracy theory) and that they did nothing of value with the obscene amounts of wealth they had built up and they did nothing with all the political power they had
To believe that the Hlaalu would die like chumps as they do in Skyrim requires believing that they're completely fucking stupid and inept
>>738780374
>presumably (by me not him) because it's scary for the modern audiences they were chasing in Oblivion onwards
This I absolutely believe and fully see as the cause, but it's still dumb as fuck. Honestly if any house should've been on the chopping block, Dres would've made more sense. Not that I like it, but killing off the one super evil house that no one got to see instead of one of the ones players might care about seems more logical, and they could tie that into the removal of slavey. Massive slave revolt in Dres lands, wipes out the Great House, inspires slave revolts elsewhere, takes ages to clean up, abolitionist elements in the Hlaalu have enough political capital to remove slavery. It's not perfect but I think that'd be far more passable than what we got.
>>
>>738780530
this is the House that elevated a drunken Nord, some degenerate Imperial, Canonna Tong lowlives, and had Caracalla and Geta tier fraticidal retards in their top brass, they ARE fucking tunnel vision'd into acquiring more gold, fucking over others, and then their turn to be fucked finally came and they had no one on their side when the chips were down.

I love that it’s played completely straight too. Like they’re not parodying the Altmer, they genuinely think they’re achieving peak civilization by copying the snootiest race on the continent. It loops back around from goofy to kind of tragic.
Also the mental image of an Imga painstakingly practicing Altmeri vowel elongation for hours a day is peak C0DA-tier nonsense and I want more of it.

>>738779303
>Hlaalu has no other identity besides being the house of slimy merchants.
It cuts both ways though. If all they care about is money then they're also willing to tolerate what other houses won't. That matters quite a lot if you're a khajiit for example. It also means they're the most willing to modernize, they're not pinned down by inefficient traditions.
If you want to look at it from a dunmer nationalist perspective, without the hlaalu, what leverage would morrowind abroad? Sure they work with the Imperials but they hold power in return, power which is ultimately in the hands of dunmer families from morrowind. The alternative would be imperials coming in to run everything directly, and what's better, the slimy merchant you know or the slimy merchant you don't?
Let's say you want to reform morrowind to make it great and strong again, how would you go about doing that? You'd have to modernize, and fund that modernization. Which houses would be able to affect that change? Only Hlaalu. Which houses could still function if the plantation systems were broken up and local fiefs torn down in favor of central authority? All of them go broke or cease to exist except Hlaalu. Ironically the house that hires housecats is the house most able and ready to turn the dark elf nation into a sovereign state.
Basically if you want Morrowind to not be a shithole, the Hlaalu are the only available way. They are for the modern dark elf, which is a big tent that doesn't just include merchants and empire lovers.
>>
>>
>>738813727
>>738816460
I guess you’re right that the flip side of greasy opportunistic merchants is that they are the future of Morrowind so to speak.
I guess that’s pretty “redeeming” considering the Hlaalu will also backstab the Empire the second they can.

Kinda makes me wish these projects had a few more unique characters, faces are the one asset type that people seem actually interested in making tons of

That's second era valenwood imga, cyrodiil imga would descend from the alessian order and instead be aping imperials
Or at least that's the lore that needs to be invented, because imga were just a small joke stolen from runequest in PGE1(that oblivion then went back to treating as just random uncivilized monkey people who live in trees), and Marukh was an entirely separate thing not associated with the imga at all at any point outside of obscure Temple Zero shit that Kirkbride would sometimes reference in forum posts later in the 2000's

>Morrowind bases a lot of assets on actual pictures
>Modders do the same, but to make higher quality textures using modern pictures as reference
>Khajiit faces that are very obviously just someone's house cat because those are the only available reference
>Redguard females that look like they know what an iphone is because those are the only available reference
It's like that problem AI models have where they can't generate a blonde woman that doesn't have dark roots and perfect features because the the dataset was poisoned by instagram

If I remember the general idea correctly, the TR idea is meant to be following the "Moneky see monkey do" joke some, but a bit of a different direction. They try following the "winning culture" for traits to incorporate into their own. Right now the Empire is the dominant culture, so...

Oh fuck, I didn't know they also added this to this mod! Can't wait for my playthrough when the PS is released.

This has to be a very old document. Orcs at the time of Morrowind should be very well documented enough having been both integrated into the Empire and relations between the races established for many years. Trolls are almost entirely animalistic and I don't think they showcase any sentience so I'm not sure why they're listed here. Imga are like Orcs but with even less of an excuse. And Tsaesci are very well known for having interbred with the Nibenese, they make a whole culture of bragging about the snake blood in their genes.

Whether trolls are literally animals or a very primitive but sapient race is something the Bethesda writers at the time weren't really sure about, later on in Oblivion they'd have a note written in broken english implied to have been made by a suicidal troll

It actually CAN resurrect the dead. Heart Stones are ore imbued with its divine energy, and they can revive people if you replace their hearts with them. They also regenerate dead tissue and seem to give permanence to Conjuration spells.

Similar concepts serving vastly different purposes.
Ayleid used light to power infrastructure and aid in their ultimate goal of joining the gods.
Maruhkati used light and sound on captured fae/deities to learn how to break gods.

Honestly mostly depends on what kind class/skill you want to use and most importantly, what restrictions you put on yourself.
If your going for a more "basic" playthrough then Divayth Fyr for full daedric armor (except for a helmet), assuming your using heavy armor and have a decent strength to be able to carry it. An (easy to get) endgame weapon for your weapon skill of choice would be useful for doing the killing faster.
If you have none then exploiting alchemy + enchanting is the easiest way to get to the most efficient killing state. But then you (mostly) end up with the same powerlevel as someone using the command line. And at that point I would assume you would quickly get bored with the playthrough.

The leader of the Orlukh clan in Anbarsund in the Roth Roryn region has a nice axe that gives basically constant Berserk
Ralvam Turil in the Purple Lantern in Narsis has ebony armor enchanted with fortify fatigue and a little bit of reflect
Maren Othrenim also in Narsis in the Backwater Cornerclub has an ebony shield with constant effect fortify block, though I'm not sure if he spawns before a certain quest
If you plan on killing everyone have you considered turning into a vampire? The vault in Tholer Andas's manor in Bal Foyen has Namira's Shroud which removes sun damage but gives some extra weakness to fire and drains personality.
This is what I remember from the top of my head, there could be more powerful stuff out there

I would also recommend going to Abanabi (just south west of Sadrith Mora) to kill Draramu Hloran get the Chrysamere (one of the most best swords in the game). She's not especially hard to kill so if you have a some potions, some scrolls and are able to jump dodge a bit then she can reasonably be dealt with at earlier levels.
I would also recommend the picking up a "ring of toxic cloud" if you see one. It does ridiculous amount poison damage in an area and can easily kill even kill most mid game enemies in one use. The only thing you should be aware of is that it does AoE dmg on touch so I think you might get hit yourself too (not sure as in my current playthrough I playing as an argonian, which has natural 100% resistants to poison). I also think you can only get it through random loot, but other anons can correct me if there is a consistent place to get it.
I not to familiar with PTR content as I'm playing my first playthrough where I truly try to explore it currently, but the most OP thing I've found so far is a crossbow named "bthung Impaler", that can spam shoot a spell that damages health for 20 per shot. It can be found in a cave just south/southwest of Bthung, which the dwemer ruin east of old ebonheart near Mount Aras.
