It's on the confusing end of the scale for sure. But by no means worst of anything. The diegetic shit is amazingly implemented.
The fucked up pixels following a failed nuclear reactor test gets my dick hard. And that matters

Yeah i love how it looks but there's no real indication for whats clickable, and from what I remember as a first time player trying to equip a mech to send out was such a pain to figure out.
I get what its going for, but highfleet also has a cool and "crunchy" UI and its easy to figure out compared to this.

I don't know why your plugin would help you with my own recordings or whatever.
Anyway, it's already been mentioned. It's Mech Engineer and I recommend you give it a try. It's incredibly cool (and yet I have not beaten the last 20ish %)

You're the evil sorcerer in the woods. And the game just gets the fantasy correct. No matter how janky it is. You'll assault a boss, fail and turn into a crow as in the webm. Giving the generic "I'll get you next time!" and just fucking off. Before recouping your strength and doing it again but better.
Has about enough skills to get 3-4 playthroughs. Each actually feel different. Demon summoning, necromancy, witchery poisoning and potiong shits and such. The only think I can recommend is getting cheat engine to fast forward. Because the game can get a bit slow

For all the attention it got. It still doesn't seem to have gotten the Harpoon kind of strategy game any players. I really don't have any good webms. But that's what the strategic layer was based on.
Where the modern successor Command: Modern Operations. Definitely gives you a better experimental battlefield. To the point they have a fucking military specific pro version.

They released in early access in January and were quick to put out a bunch of updates and fixes but stopped in February and put out a cope post in March about how the game isn't that bad and demo enjoyers are wrong.
And yeah mine is the demo too because it was actually good.
>>
>>738757518
Command: Modern Operations. But some of these posted webms are old enough to actually be the older Command: Modern Air Naval Operations.
Sort of the same, but CMO is newer and a better simulation I guess?
If you want to play around with mostly naval and air assets between 1950-2030. Get it. Get editor is great and you can just play war with damn near every system possible

Yeah the so called full release just looked like ass. And with even worse performance than the demo.
So may I interest you in Hellish Quart? A more serious fencing simulator set in the polish lithuanian empire?
(Give me a (You ) if you want to play. It doesn't have any other multiplayer)

It's gigasperg levels of autism. But, the best part of it all. Is that you can literally play against yourself in the editor. And not give a shit about anything.
If you want to read for ten hours about the Nigeria - Cameroon dispute about the Bakassi oil fields or whatever, to make a proper fake history conflight? Sure go ahead. Or you can fucking say "yeah the germans assaulted sweden in 1975" and just spawn whatever the fuck live. It's the perfectly researched sandbox, while also being an incredibly free playfield.

Is it, though? When I last played it long ago, the UI was seemingly intentionally horrendous. Has it gotten better? I remember the armor design system being especially obtuse. Micromanaging the mental state of the pilots after every battle was annoying too.
Stuff like Highfleet did diegetic UI right, Mech Engineer was just annoying.
>>
>>
>>738760823
+R is a very fast game.
But the first half where Baiken doesn't take damage is sped up, yes. Then I get a single counterhit on the second hit of 6HH, and she's already about to get stunned. Many such cases.

>Micromanaging the mental state of the pilots after every battle was annoying too.

This is genuinely some brainlet take on gaming. You don't have to micromanage mental states in ME. Highfleet's diegetic UI is cool for sure. But ultimately much worse than a pure Harpoon equivalent. Which it always harkened to.
Just leave the optimal whatever behind anon. Be yourself, do yourself. Lose on your own. Fuck the meta, make a cool scifi craft and notice it being ass 10 hours later.
And in the end, just read some shit, feel what it might mean. And try it out.

what software do most people use to record snippets? and im assuming theres another software involved to compress the file so i can upload it? also im concerned about the performance effect of having something record my gameplay, like i'll probably lose frames right?

Try shotcut, it's free. You're going to have to remove the audio stream if you want to post it free.

Ideally, use OBS, then WebM for retards or FFmpeg to convert it to webm format.
Nvidia and AMD both have their own recording formats. But OBS genuinely seems to be the better one. I have a like 40% working chance of shit working with Nvidia and didn't even bother with AMD after that.
Tl;dr. Just fucking use OBS and convert it to webms using webm for retards or ffmpeg (which is what webm for retards uses anyway)

As I remember it, the mental states are a feature in the game. You had to swap out stressed pilots and put them in a sanitarium or something. You could also put them in training for a few moments and other things, and fiddling with all of that all the time just got annoying when added on top of all the other shit in the convoluted UI. Your suggestion is to just ignore the feature, turn your brain off, and play sub-optimally on purpose. It doesn't make me love the game design.
I don't think the game had manual saves, so if you fucked up you couldn't revert and you had to start from scratch again, so I tried to actually play the game how it was designed to be played. The shitty UI is the most common complaint about the game.

If one mech pilot is obviously fucked up. Sure change him out. Still I think in playing through what I think are the first 3/ths of simple bosses. You don't really need to bother. I really only think I let damaged pilots have a rest between missions. And then later when you have a "fuck team" and a "economy team" you can just let anyone from the important fuck team take a few days off on the eco team.
And that's purely what I felt like how it worked on my own. Fuck internet researching.

Full scale battles in the engine are much more impressive than single tanks losing a track.

Been meaning to make a game like this but with pixel art sprites and you see animations of missile launches. I guess it would be RTS with pause? I mean I could reuse the assets from my current game for this too. Well I was thinking of another game mode for this.
>>
>>
>>738766839
If you're aiming to make a naval simulator. You're competing with CMO, Rule The Waves and Harpoon. And whichever new game being shilled. Which is a more casual RTS but with high electronic warfare going on.
However you do it. If you lean into the CMO super autist mechanisms. You'd certainly lose 80-90% of gamers. If you go more approachable mechanics which is sort of what the game I genuinely forgot the name of. Naval Warfarce: Arctic or something? Which is really just a condensed CMO in essence. You're genuinely still on the fence between grognard and enthusiast normie.
I'd love to see more games, but the whole sphere is such a gigantically autistic thing that it seems hard to diversify.
Command is king in the 1960ish-2030.
RTW is by far the best representation of obsolescence I had ever seen over a century.
And that's more or less what you are competing with. Just consider that both are super, super autistic, detailed and nerdy. Anthing between this level and C&C is still giga niche.
I still wish you the best of luck. I crave more games in the sphere no matter the issues I might consider.
