When I first started posting on forums gaming and gaming culture were new enough that basically everyone had been around for the whole thing, and now there's a lot of zoomers and under on /v/ that haven't 'read the canon', it's worse than a language barrier a lot of the time.
Time froze for me around 2008 because that's when I stopped paying attention to modern games, and the internet froze around 2010 because that's when normalfags invaded and I stopped bothering because I would literally have to spend my entire life constantly making new accounts so I could scream at people who own smartphones to get off my internet immediately.
