Never played it, anon, but I highly recommend you try the first Dark Souls, especially the Switch version, which is The Prepare to Die edition, but fixed (contrary to the Remastered version, which changes textures, some lightning etc).

Its a pretty decent one. Level and enemy design feels a lot like demons souls (good), and combat is similar to bloodborne (excellent). You have 4 different defensive options to choose from and can change at any time (parry, shield, attack buff at the cost of health, or dodge), though the parry one is pretty OP and the answer to 99% of the problems the game throws at you. Difficulty is on the easy side, but I like that, I hate that every souls-like HAS to be super punishing and not fun. You can change your build at no cost halfway though the game to try different shit too. Weapon variety is pretty limited, and spells are mostly either a buff, or a projectile.
Other than that, the combat system is a pretty good answer to the MP problems souls-like have (you build a bar every time you attack, which serves as a stance meter like in sekiro/AC6, but also the higher it gets the more damage you do, and you also spend it on special attacks or magic). Finally, the lore is alright, typical cryptic shit, but I liked the story, instead of everything being shit and depressing, everything is shit BUT there's much hope, and humanity and love saves the planet, I always disliked the doom and gloom of souls-like (except on bloodborne case).

It's a Code Vein ripoff, but if you have no better soulslikes to play, I'd say go for it
