Kazuma Kaneko here.
A long holiday is over—hope you all had a good one.
I finally got my hands on a Switch 2, so I spent the entire break "Tsukuyomi-ing" my own game.

Talking of unused old demon designs, its such a shame there has been no way to mod the 3DS Megatens.
While 3D is cool and all, I really like on in the IVs the party is displayed at all times.
Sure V has small portraits but I prefer the semi half body portraits.
The 3DS Fire Emblems are somewhat modable but I guess Megaten isnt popular enough to get such a treatment.

yeah, there's at least these 3
and they've used this as a reference before, Nezha in Raidou has the blocky teeth seen in this artwork that aren't present in his original SMT1 art, so there's a chance they use it for Willy/Holy Ghost/Balaam if they ever get a model
>>
>>566230993
Make sure they learn magic they are weak against so you can eliminate your weakness down the road since only that and magic absorbing skills ( The ones that are items in V) can be used to protect against weaknesses.
Also look for a choices guide since your choices matter for the sequel.

What are the chances Atlus ports Strange Journey to newer consoles? I feel like giving it a second go. I don't even care if it's the original or Redux, and EO ports showed having one screen instead of two can work.

I really like the whole idea of devil summoners who have formed a society that you fight against.
I feel like SMT doesn't go hard enough into the whole societal collapse thing since societies are established by the time you arrive.
Not enough humans scrambling to survive by fighting each other ala your average zombie apocalypse media.
Maybe something like a phantom society style antagonist group that gets in your way would be very cool.
Hope the Nocturne/V glacing doesn't translate into the next games following after them.
Reallly hoping next game is a 3D normal human story in post apocalyptic Tokyo (Not the lame alternate world shit of V).
>>

And it was cool at least in 1.
Only thing is I want them to be more characters than npcs.
It was really cool how the dsp could be in almost anything so you had the Trombone, the guitar, umbrella, etc.

I can read it. I simply do not care and think not wanting people to enjoy and post your art is retarded. Huge difference.
Someone posting your art on a korean basket weaving forum isn't going to kill you.

>>566279591
The request not to repost is targeted at twitter repost accounts that take artwork that isn't theirs and repost it for engagement which then leads to spamming ads. It doesn't apply to posting pictures on 4chan that disappear into the void.

I found it harder than mainline.
In mainline you can cheese most encounters with a wide array of demon element affinities.
Meanwhile you are absolutely fucked if you get ambushed in DDS until you learn the passives. Nevermind 2 when in full solar noise you are extra screwed.
Also peak OST. No other Megaten comes close.

they're decent games. the first one has more annoying dungeons but the consistent party lineup makes team building more fun. the second game is the opposite. less annoying dungeons but your party members get switched out often.
the first one has a good boss theme. story probably went over my head back when i played them and it's probably time for a replay.

Reflecting has been broken since If at least, since protags have access to it and the spells last an entire turn (iirc in SMT1 it only reflects a single hit), usually demons who have those spells are too slow to make any use of it but a human character with high enough speed will do wonders.
There is a boss in Soul Hackers' post game that make use of these spells though and you'll have to find a specific strategy to beat him.

Anything to do with 1/2/if.../Devil Summoner 1 is way beyond current Atlus, and they put out Strange Journey Redux last time as an anniversary game, so I guess IV Remastered is most likely by default.

4 has a world and characters that you can actually care about.
Gameplay is generally better but sadly 4 uses an strange damage formula where you have no defensive damage stats so damage is dictated entirely by the mag/str stat.
So even low level enemies can potentially wipe you out (Which is why you can save anywhere).
Apocalypse has much better gameplay and mechanics but a worse story.
But funnily enough the characters are more developed. Like Skins and Fujiwara barely do anything in IV but they get a bigger role and screentime.
>>
i find 3 to be easy on random encounter compared to 4/4A in normal so you can get pretty braindead while trying to grind in 3 while 4's grinding takes a lot of MP resources that you need to refill once in a while, 5 doesn't have random encounter.

>mfw 99% of VV mods are coomer slop instead of mods that actually try to fix or improve the game
>>
>>566400627
I don't think the amount of work needed to "fix" the game is feasible for a modder. Model swaps and edits are easy.
But the problems people tend to have with it, stuff like bits of the story, the setting or its choice of area design formatting instead of dungeons would basically require tearing it down and rebuilding from scratch.
>>
>>566400627
It's the same for most single player games, skyrim being the best example of it:
>famous for its extensive mod community
>what they don't tell you is that 90% of the mods made for it is or can be used for coom
Normalfags literally only see the tip of the iceberg.

You can add that the HP and MP growth of demons in separated in 3 groups (HP focused, balanced and MP focused) and that MP demons are basically unusable if a battle last more than 1 turn since there's no defense stat.

>>566407553
Yeah.
I wonder if thats why you can learn element resistance skills so early.
Like if you get a Katariwa (Or whatever the pork demon is called) you should be using them in fusion to cover weaknesses since they could potentially get one shot and your team wiped.
Still it was a fun game. Was interesting to see how much Apocalypse had tweaked the formula when I played it recently.

Vfags were adamant about their game being a flawless masterpiece for years, so nobody is going to risk making mods to touch the "perfect gameplay" when they can just make coom mods and call it a day

It's not hard to change values, but once you change a value, you have to test it. You have to test it in the context of a vacuum, then you have to test it in the context of the full game up to that point, which basically requires tons and tons of save values at various points in the game. And then you need to test what comes after your change to make sure it doesn't upset the balance of what comes after it if a super hard change forces the players to turbo grind into Hercules himself in order to triumph. It's not hard, but it's time consuming.
>>
>>
>>566405167
I've seen several difficulty mods for VV, haven't tried any of them but from my experience, difficulty mods for JRPG are almost always:
>puzzle boss fights that you need to resolve exactly as the modder intended and some will get pissed if you manage to beat them without following the "correct" method
and/or
>basic bitch stat buffs that makes fights way longer than it should

And so, IV beat for the first time.
I certainly enjoyed it overall. It's got a good vibe and really good music, and I can appreciate how aggressive the combat is.
That said, I gotta be honest, the navigation just sucks. It's 50/50 on whether or not the game gives you adequate direction in where to go. I felt like I needed a guide to know where to go half the time, ESPECIALLY for side quests. Also nothing like a 'return to last terminal/bar,' the fact that Terminals and Bars are ALWAYS on the opposite end of a region just because. It just felt needlessly tedious.
How the alignments work sucks, and honestly about half way through the game it was just pretty easy. Party building felt pretty non-existent too.
I know this is blasphemy here, but I honestly prefer SMTVV. Navigation, party building, and yes, even music I like in VV more.
Still, I give IV like a 7/10, and probably will replay it on Expert eventually with a Phys/Gun build. Either gonna get to Strange Journey or the Raidou games next.

What're you gonna do for Raidou games? Go for 1, 2 and then Remaster or just play Remaster and 2? Personally I would go 1>2>R.
>>
>>566443161
I will say though, this was a sleeper hit of a theme when I first heard it.
https://youtu.be/kqKWbj7mgmw
Random thought I also had, Lucifer in his second stage, along with the music, reminded me of the final boss of Parasite Eve,
>>566446454
I'm just gonna emulate the originals. Seeing screenshots of what the Remaster did to the first game aesthetically put me off from wanting to play that version.

I heard that the Japanese didn't have a problem with it cause apparently SMT 4's map of Tokyo is so accurate that if you ignore the rivers of poison and broken bridges, you could unironically find your way around Tokyo with it as a guide. It has 2 levels only for MC.
Party based mp recovery is the one that costs 100.
The first one costs like 35 points. The second one isn't worth it.
At least level ups heals the demon. Apocalypse made it an app for some dumb reason.

Honestly it is weird that they just don't have a male and female option.
My only guess is that because of demon negotiation there's a lot of gender-specific dialogue and they don't feel like writing enough for both.

>>566480604
They made a game where the protagonist is a literal stand-in for Kushinada and they STILL made him a dude. That is how afraid they are of committing to it. I would prefer if they just made another manly MC like Doomguy instead of endless femboys.

Man I hate hard difficulties economy when it comes to demon fusion.
Just makes the games more tedious with either grinding the money or wasting time hunting down the demon materials.
I shouldn't be paying 100k to fuse a Lv43 ass demon.
Why cant the other games take a cue from Strange Journey?
Game tells you where to find the demons and you can buy the base forms from the compensium.
Really hope the new games stops with this shitty money inflation on hard and above.

It's the main focus of the gacha's plot in both it being the main thing the main story revolves around and also because different worlds where it already got triggered being part of many event stories

Though they're fundamentally different, Persona and Pokemon share similarities, especially in gameplay. One of the most interesting aspects of the Persona games is how each party member's Persona represents them in a way that allows you to understand them more. This is no different in Persona 3 Portable.

Persona 5: Which Pokemon Gym Each Of The Phantom Thieves Would Lead
You can see the same happen for certain Pokemon characters, albeit to a lesser extent. With all the Pokemon out there, there are definitely some that perfectly fit Persona 3 Portable's characters. Personas aren't chosen, but the cast would probably choose these Pokemon to accompany them.

The protagonists of Persona are silent, but each has a distinct aura and style that shows their personalities. Makoto gives off the vibes of being cool and collected to the point of coming off as stoic.
Umbreon's sleek black design matches his attitude and aesthetic. On top of that, midnight and the moon is a huge part of Persona 3. Umbreon operates at night and gets its power from the moonlight, making it the perfect Pokemon to take with Makoto. Even its evolution involves nighttime or using a Moon Shard.

Finally managed to find a good grinding place for Opals last night, I'm pretty sure there is only one such place that isn't a huge waste of timeDawon has a good spawn rate in Hodand holy shit: 9 stat boosts at once. I wonder if that was just from Opals or if I got a special bonus due to having every Jewel set?
As a side note, when doing my Jewel grind I seem to have noticed something: some guides claim that Luck only really matters for the protagonist. I don't think that's true at all, I think the entire team's Luck, including demons, have an impact. As soon as I put Lakshmi on my team, who has 30 Luck, I was getting pre-emptive strikes and item drops much more frequently. If it makes a difference this was from the PSX version.
>>
>>
>>
People tend to call Kongokai in SMT2 a "post game", but that's incorrect. It's a bonus dungeon you can only access on a 2nd playthrough. The fact that in the SNES version you can access it if you happen to have kept a save before Lucifer's castle is an exploit rather than the intended way; and in the PSX version you can truly only access it in an NG+, using the cleared save data after beating the game once and going through the entire game up Shinjuku again.
>>
Should I replay Soul Hackers on PSX, after I already played on it Saturn, or play Persona knowing that I've never played Persona?
Or maybe I should play Soul Hacker's new game+ on Saturn? I have a save file for that. Does the NG+ also exist on PSX and does anyone have a savefile for it if it does?

The current head of the Persona studio at Atlus said that turn based RPGs are forever and Atlus will always keep making turn based games.
So no need to worry about SMT turning into an action game series like every other major RPG did.

I'm surprisingly liking the gameloop , and that some high demons can look different depending of the answer before getting it is cool.
Some design are shit, like AI slop tier(like the sucubbus), and I think the upgrade cost too much.
Is a good casual dungeon crawler and I think Kaneko has it to ignore AI and go to a bigger company to release his final project.

no one gives a shit about the shitch virtual console because you can't actually buy any of the games unlike Sony's or even past Nintendo stores' classic options. You need the subscription no exceptions.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and started playing Metaphor. Most of what I heard about it was how Persona it was, so I wasn't expecting the Press Turn system, and especially not a battle track and the level up music from SMTV.

Playing DDS and I'm afraid Atlus won't be able to remaster this without significant censorship. I'm still very early on but already overheard a conversation about how some of the bad guys want to eat Argilla's ass and booba

I might replay it, I had such a bad taste in my mouth last time I touched it on release due to it;s 70 dollar price tag. At least if I want to buy a copy again it will only cost 25 dollars max, even less if I go used.

This was a cool moment.
You kill everyone as you see every faction try and stop you.
Though I think Mii and Key and Hope should have been there though I understand Hope is in the DLC (Though the DLC could take place before the Obelisk).
I like how Fujiwara sprite is just his portrait holding a gun.
Skins looks like he is ready to jump at your throat.
Missed chance to have your goddess (In my case Isabeau) getting a reaction from them too (Specially Isabeau since she is such an integral part of their faction in the OG neutral.
Also strange how Masakado is pretty much ignored in the game. He just becomes an entrance to YHVH universe.

DDS is really such a game of it's time. I'm not the type of person who likes eng dubs, but DDS eng dub is genuinely one of the few I like in a weeb game and that's purely because all of the VAs involved worked on it before they exploded in popularity (yuri, wendee, fucking STEVE BLUM, wittenberg). Pretty sure most of them don't do shit anymore unless it's a high paying job sans yuri.

>SOUL HACKERS 2 BAD
Such a mindless NPC reddit opinion. It has some flaws to be sure but the main problem is that it was called Soul Hackers. If they called it something else it would be widely considered a welcome SMT spin off (with repetitive dungeons that needed more time in development)

I play SMT games for fusion autism and it scratched that itch just fine

Buddy, what??
Soul hackers 2 has the most vanilla, featureless fusion in a megaten title in... literal decades? Its completely vanilla normal + special fusion and thats it. No sacrifice fusion, no tertiary fusion, no sources or essence fusion, no nothing.
And the roster is pathetically miniscule to boot.
I could've at least understood if you just said you liked the character designs or something. You'd still be a faggot of course, but its an actual opinion I could comprehend. But the absolute bare minimum fusion possible is why you tolerate this total wank of a game and think it can't be called bad?

I find it funny that Navarre had this game mechanic made for him but he sucked at it.
In Massacre, the dagger is much better.
You dont have to hear him, waste time charging, waiting till he materializes to attack again and I think it has better range too.
