My understanding is that yes it's a new map/event. It may be a type of pve sort of experience like terminal, or a transit location kind of labyrinth.

Despite the event for Icebreaker's release being temporary, the map will be a permanent addition to the game. Pretty sure it takes place on a large shipping barge. I'm expecting a medium/large map consisting of super cramped CQB rooms. The event itself will probably be a questline that culminates in gaining access to the icebreaker map. On the map I think there will be pve enemies, but also other people spawning as well.

Vague question, but how do you guys navigate maps consistently and safely as possible when you just wanna quest and leave?
It feels like extracting often forces me to cross open areas, move through high-traffic areas, or stay exposed to countless angles and hiding spots.
Weirdly enough, CQB maps feel safer to me because you can clear most angles methodically, and the game rewards aggression and mechanics enough that circle strafing, offensive running freelook, quick peeking, bhoping, etc. can save you even if someone is ratting.
But on some maps, like customs when I spawn at big red and need to cross the map to extract, it feels like I can't avoid people.
I don't even have flea market yet, I just wanna get quests done and fuck off, even though I love PvP and don't mind dying, I just don't have the rubbles to chase gunfights yet.
I’m still pretty new, but my mechanics are decent but maybe I’m missing something fundamental?
Also, is queuing up with randoms a trap to just kill the other guy and get their kit or I just have bad luck?

If I REALLY need to get something done, I just legit hide until there's so little time left that I can manage my tasks with no room for error. Most people have fucked off and I'm almost always free to get my tasks done. If I'm not feeling that ratty, I just take the safe routes that I've become accustomed with, maybe spend some time just overlooking a position to get some long distance kills at the start.

I have NEVER queued with a random in this game, although I've been playing since 2018. I'd imagine that to be a horrible experience.

kek, yes, you will get blasted on spawn 100% of the time.

Basically to just get tasks done, learn the routes through maps that are less traveled. It's hard to just spell out specifically, but every map has high and low traffic routes. Tasks often take you to POIs so once you're there it's anyone's guess, but there's a lot you can do in your entrance/exit to those locations that will boost your survivability. I guess my advice is to learn what paths all the streamerslaves take, and avoid those. Try watching some tarkov vids on youtube of sweaties and take note of how they travel through a raid off spawn. You'll notice they oftentimes take super direct routes to POIs. You'll want to avoid doing that so you don't run into them.

in your example, if you spawn at big red, you can just pick a side of the river and rat
people will usually take car and flare, other spawns on your side might rotate around big red looking for people and you might rat people coming over from the other side
then you just move along when things sound quiet enough

Lighthouse's dynamics are strange now. Nobody seems to be rushing WT anymore, since some PMCs spawn north of it, so everyone's just fucking around the cabins and then extracting, I guess. It used to be a easy way to get bolt-action kills to just camp in the middle of the map and wait for people to rush WT, but for some reason nobody is doing so anymore. I'm guessing due to the spawns?

When I first found the game in 2018 it felt like Nikita and I were on the exact same wavelength when it comes to what we wanted out of both an FPS and a game in general. Nothing captured my attention harder than Tarkov. Twitch drops shit and giving streamers a bit too much time of day during COVID was annoying but it was pretty minor in comparison to the fleshing out of that initial visison. Then two years ago they shifted away from pure autism with Arena and the backlash and sucking up to the vocal zoomer parts of the community with Unheard and the patches shortly after and it's like any desire to make THE game that was the culmination of the past 20 years of development in FPS games has just vanished. The goofy cosmetics, dropping all the RPG elements, keeping game mechanics simplified to stay in line with Arena, etc. It's incredibly retarded and juvenile to say, I know, but does anyone feel like the game (and BSG) is slipping through their fingers?
