You can make a really functional one out of a q-tip, a pen/pencil, and some tin foil. I know it seems ghetto, but if you shape the tip of the q-tip a bit, then it actually works really well. When you make a character that requires custom detailed eyes, do you tend to focus more on painting in everything to match them as close as possible (resulting in forever staring open eyes or painted parts not moving along with the Mii's eyes) or do you try to make something that sticks within the limits of the normal Mii's eyes so they work naturally?

Playing on unmodded hardware, hence the shitty phone pics. But it's absurdly low-effort. I'm planning on going back and making it look better. The only real trick is to use a stamp of the character's face and use the eyedropper tool to get their skin tones right. It's still not gonna be perfect because clothes have a different material to them, but from a distance it's close enough.

I ignore all (most) Mii requests. They'll ask for a bench when a bench is right behind them, or ask to greenify the island by adding trees on concrete paths, etc, etc.
And the happiness you give them isn't worth it when you can just feed them or wait for a colored thought bubble.
The only benefit, as far as I can tell, is you get things cheaper, and then can go back and remove them or rearrange them.
But even then, money has never been an issue for me.

Been messing around in Foto-Tomo and I realized a sort of issue with facial expressions on some of my Miis, where some of them won't have their eyes rotate for the angry and sad expressions, or in some cases it will rotate for one but not the other. It's weirdly inconsistent too, I have a group of Miis who share the exact same eyes and it feels random which ones show the facial expressions properly while others have the "frozen eyes" so to speak (it's NOT face paint by the way, it's exclusively base Mii eyes, they still blink and all that it's just the rotation for angry/sad faces that are bugged somehow).

Found that it's like this:
