I rent a parcel
The parcel in the corner, it's small, and my platform where my objects are is in the sky

Recently a neighbour directly to the left of me (center middle of the region's land) stopped renting, so the region's owner came by to put down her virtual ad and do any cleaning up or terraforming etc.

I logged in the other day and had objects returned by her.
What was the offending issue?
I have an urban build so i have bill-boards on some of the roofs of the city-filler blocks, one of these billboards goes out of the boundary of my parcel's borders, the object itself is within the boundary, but the back legs of the billboard (I can't do anything to change that, it's how the mesh was made...) go slightly and i mean like in real world terms, 2 cm's over the parcel boundary...

She returned it and IM'd me because of that.
1. It's in the sky, no one see's it or is bothered by it.
2. It's in the corner, it doesn't go onto anyone else's parcels.
3. again, it's in the sky, there's nothing even near it / me.

I hate landlords in SL, they don't play this game on another alt, they are just boomers that still think those virtual pets that take up region ram are all the rage in 2026...
Fuck boomers and fuck sl landlords.

On this subject, who is the richest sl landlord? Has there ever been a documentary on how these people are able to not work for a living? Seriously some of them must be so rich... like chung-estates is basically the entire grid at this point...

Shit scales, if they can make $10 profit per region and keep re-investing in more regions then it adds up if they can keep the parcels rented. They also grandfathered older regions basically pricing out any future competitors.

It would be hard to start as a landlord in 2026, no one would rent from you at a decent L$ price that you'd even cover your region fee's... Other places are going to give a better deal and won't have to worry about covering one region fee if no ne rents there or it only has like 3 out of 8 renters because another region will be full and will cover one that fails...
I don't even know... If you went back in time i bet someone like anshe chung wouldn't even need to have advertised, renting and land was new so people wanted it - if you had to try and engage with renters now it would be near impossible to attract a new clientelle that will actually see out a 12 months or more, even just keeping 1 parcel filled for 1-2months would be a challenge if you didn't have pre-existing connections like friendship or otherwise alot of socializing in big groups or being some known name or whatever...

fuck boomers so much, fuck linden labs too, there has been zero upward momention on this game for years, we get " the cloud" and then slightly larger texture files (4k) (terrible btw) and pbr which is shit in most lighting / environments and most users don't even know how to use it because this game is so fucking normie-fied now i hate it honestly.

I stick to my small parcel and be happy all by myself atp.

It's 700L for a body with a couple of addons (and maybe more in the future but probably not if they're already selling the body cheap), or 500L for a body with only one of those addons.

I like the body a lot, it's just a shame that the clothing support is lacking like every niche body, and that HD nipples poke through like 90% of those clothes anyway because they're rigged as an afterthought.

Yes but she is also the reason Maitreya is the most popular body, because she made a dev kit for it. Most creators could not get the actual dev kit, so her dev kit allowed all those other creators to start rigging for the Lara body.

In case of Maitreya, they wanted to control who made clothing for their body, so they could control what kind of looks were available.
Meshbody was/is the same, though they've been better to work with than Maitreya. They mainly want to see the requester actually has experience rigging and will create quality products.
Coco a clothing maker made a doll jointed body, and wanted to be the only creator making clothing for it, but others wanted to rig for it, so TMG made a dev kit for the body, and people in her discord were then able to rig for it.
Newer body creators are much more open to giving out their dev kits, so this is more a thing when Mesh bodies were newer.

Also anyone who gets a dev kit is getting a copy of the body in files that a person can put into blender and alter if they wished, and upload to SL, and have a CMT version of that body. So your really putting a lot of trust in a person when you give them a dev kit for your meshbody.
