>you're allowed to select your weapon in Eggstra Work friends queue because people who picked the same weapon will roll for unpicked weapons >you're not allowed to select your weapon in Eggstra Work solo queue because you might get matched with someone who picked the same weapon
>splattershot/blaster/roller/charger eggstra work >splattershot is my worst option and the only one i don't have fun using >get it LITERALLY every shift >get top eggs and top wave clear nearly every shift >nobody else ever seems to play into the strengths of their weapons at all please nogodmi i am begging you just let me have my roller or match me with someone who doesn't use it exclusively to roll into cohocks and focus steelheads
>>566491771 Good info, thanks again. Won't have a chance to try it out until evening but I'm stoked. Also found this on x: >Patch for prod packed nsp to run on prod console >buzzheavier. >com/ >8hc7ypicmung Now to figure out how to "prod repack" that nsp... I'm too old to be spending all day and night messing around with stuff like this lol
>>566537013 i havent really been on splatoon much for about 2 years, only got back on it a month ago, but i rarely see flingzas anymore. is it because they ruined tentas ?
>>566536749 A random salmon run test map it's fairly small but have like a dozen baskets, it's pretty maze-y >>566535058 I'm wondering this too, as far as I'm aware the anon may be wrong in the need of the patch as it should work without if it's installed properly. The methord works but isn't stable and not as complete. I think prod repack would be unpacking the testfire, replacing everything with the march build, and repack it into a proper somehow, I'm trying to understand it too.
>I play luna >matchmaking always puts 2 or more long range weapons on enemy team >I don't play luna >matchmaking puts only short/mid range weapons on my team and luna on the enemy team
>>566565059 hydra has a usable kill charge in like 20 frames they just all forget that you can just not charge fully splat4 should make weapon tech trees structured in a way that promotes learning, people really shouldn't touch hydra without getting good with heavy first
>>566567428 rainmaker is a fantastic mode when it's played right. a tense match of defensive fishdunk is peak splatoon. seven timmies putzing the fish and you having to babysit all of them at once sucks.
>>566567720 tc and rm are very different rm allows for buildup of resources without necessarily pushing the objective, tc is deliberately slow to make you build them up as you go there's a reason why only tc gives extra special charge to the pushing team and not to the defending one like every other mode
>>566568029 >tc is deliberately slow to make you build them up as you go Yeah, and I like that. You can't just zip the tower from one side of the map to the other in a few seconds, you have to actually push it along the track. That and you don't have the all too common scenario of people being scared/reluctant to carry the rainmaker
>>566568256 >You can't just zip the tower from one side of the map to the other in a few seconds if your opponents aren't shitters, you can't do that with the fish either if the opponents are shitters, they deserve the spanking, just win and go on to seek better opponents
>>566568428 >cheese a lead with a special >>566568437 >The specials are the problem. two posts about different things but ultimately coming to the same conclusion about the game as a whole all modes are good but they are all ruined by specials because the entire game is ruined by specials
>>566568695 Pretty much, yeah. Specials have gotten so much power creep that most of them are "I win" buttons and I hate it. I'd love to have a "no specials" game mode
>>566569131 it's not exclusive to 3 it got even worse in it because the power level has entered orbit, but all three games have a problem with specials
>>566569709 Five each. This is seven, and only one is from 2. Read, squigga, read. Saltspray TC was so fucking bad it got banned from public rotation. Try again.
>>566570081 saltspray tc wasn't bad, actually, nowhere near as sinful as saltspray and blackbelly rainmaker. it was unbalanced because devs forgot that all woomies are right-handed, but past that, it was a very competent tc layout.
>>566571051 this >enemy uses hammer, it's an indestructible wall of death that makes them totally invincible from the front >I use hammer, every weapon in the game can shoot right through it and instakill me
Just had the terrifying thought that Versus06 might've been scrapped because of the silent pauses in the song, offering competitive advantage and making it easier to hear sharkers.
>>566572968 neat trivia But I've played a bunch of different shooters and it's the same shit every time; enemy hammers are invincible to everything but my hammer is made of paper apparently
>>566574276 Meanwhile I'd be very confused about nintendo caring that deeply about "competitive advantages" around music volume, when the game as a whole is pretty fucking un-competitive (15 tick p2p with shit matchmaking and i-win-button specials)
>>566574550 "Nintendo can't balance a multiplayer shooter" is not a new concept, unfortunately. I can't really think of any other reason the song was scrapped other than this. "It doesn't fit" doesn't seem like a valid explanation either because there are several Splat2 songs that don't really feel like battle music.
>>566574458 shoot their feet, the hammer hitbox moves up and down you should be doing it anyway, makes your spread marginally better or just use nautilus lol
I got a switch 2 so I figured I would play Splatoon again to see if I noticed a difference. Ran a few salmon runs, and I'm sorry. I'm so washed and dropping rank.
>>566578818 I might be able to blame the randoms I got, but surely 6 matches played where I never got past wave 2 (if even that) can be attributed to me at least a little.
I never understood why Japanese gamedevs are so protective of their development process (in the form of debugging tools, development tools, engines used, beta versions of things, etc), compared to western studios (ie the rockstar leaks and them going "eh who cares") Personally always find that kinda thing fascinating because it shows a little look into how it was actually made, that it was made by people doing just normal development work and all the hoops they jumped through to put that passion in. Is also why I leave it in in my stuff. Unless it gives an in game advantage of course but beyond that, why care?
>>566604141 Honestly i think the plan was to use fuzzy takos in the crater and then switch out for a new enemy type in alterna proper. Probably machines. But something shifted and they just kept octarians the enemies the entire time.
so why is kold stealing from snakehand now? is it because he's jealous hes popular and well liked where people play with him when he does open lobbies meanwhile everyone hates kold so much they quit pbs?
>>566673268 ink efficiency doesn't matter if your fish deletion efficiency is ass single-targets are only ever good for raw boss-shredding dps, but .52 has standard shooter dps and just can't cut it through the hordes of trash with anywhere near as much efficiency as anything with damage inflation, even something as bad as inkbrush
>>566674407 carbon roller should have its hitboxes slashed to become a technical weapon again but it can't because 3's powercreep ensures that even the most capable technical weapons get left behind in favour of easier stuff that's just as capable, so they either don't touch them or make them braindead >>566674349 clearing trash is by far the biggest non-universal ammo sink in the mode and shooters not only can't get extra value out out of their shots, they are also some of the only weapons in the mode that did not get ink efficiency buffs (or any buffs, really) even rapids and inkbrush, some of the weakest inflators, positively MOG .52's capacity for trash clearance because they only need to hit two fish at once to break even on both speed and efficiency (they hit more than two fish at once), and their range and mobility respectively let them get to fat targets quicker and safer to compensate for shooters' raw dps advantage the only shooter-likes worth shit are daps (not sploosh because daps are only okay-ish against trash when rolled into high fire rate mode and sploosh can't roll so it's always 15f per chum, barely any better than baisic shooters) and non-standard splatlings (bap, hydra and edit, everything else is dapples with charge time so worse dapples), and daps are still subpar compared to something like a blaster the dps on baisic shooters isn't even that much stronger than on the good weapons, if you really want things to see fat fucks get deleted from being looked at, there are single-target dps monsters that are just as inept at handling trash but melt through meat, like .52's own big brother and utility isn't that good either, 2-liners are survivable and have decent paint but both of these can be found in both better weapons or/and in more extreme capacities shooters are objectively the weakest class in sammin, some shooters are even worse (lol nova) but .52 is not much better
what if nova's gimmick was that shots have very mild homing slow them back to standard speed and don't change damage, just make it weak but very consistent
>>566709634 it would've been shit in splat1 too because it's pretty much a straight downgrade from dual squelcher and l3 and that's before we consider that it doesn't have fucking kits
>>566710432 inkjet has been a second rate trizooka throught splat3's entire lifespan, even in its fotm guranteed 2-shots patch, and having a non-spammable sub on a weapon with nova's efficiency is a waste of the one good stat it actually has going for it
Y'know I only just watched the Raiders trailer for the second time, looks like you can freely select your weapon. My biggest complaint about SR and the campaigns is not being able to just use whatever I want, glad we're done with that
>>566729907 i reckon itll probably let you free select in most stages, and then maybe challenge stages (like we saw with the squid rings) will have an equipper? that seems reasonable i like trying weapons but i know multiple people who like SO/SR only when they get to play their weapon
>>566731036 It's not that they look lighter it's because most fanart depicts swim form as smaller when they're actually the same size as human form. regardless human form would be better for a massage from an average weight woomveem because of the points of contact being the feet where if it was swim form all the weight would be distributed like a weighted blanket and not target specific areas.
in an alternate universe where order won, raiders is the mildly disappointing dlc campaign for splat3, while side order is a standalone masterpiece of the rogue-like genre
>>566742510 no, it's always seven rather, the amount you get at spawn and from splats goes up by one each time first minute you spawn with one and get one for each splat, second minute you spawn with two and get two for each splat, last minute you spawn with three and get three for each splat
>>566737981 fuzzy takos were a requirement and the designwork was probably already done by just the nature of the worldbuilding, at the point the artists were told they'd do fuzzy octarians they probably already started thinking about how it'd make the takos look, and they did get use fizzbangs won't have costed much development time to implement or model but add thematic value as well as giving something new and fresh during splatfests, even if it doesn't actually do anything ingame, a lot of splatoon's power is in worldbuilding and theming so it's got more than enough value there side order surprise surprise is generally liked, allowed them to tie up a lot of loose ends in OE's story, allowed them to give a good bit more characterization to OtH, and even if you only want to talk about pvp game design likely has a lot of valuable telemetry on what people like in weapon behaviour and what they don't gamedev a lot of the time is about finding balances between iterating and throwing shots in the dark. you want to keep things new while also inventing a new place in your genre better than any local maximum you might iterate onto anything that gets people talking, hyped, keeps people interested, has details people can latch onto and fall in love with, it has value yknow you might not enjoy any of these mechanics, but i'm not sure if you're aware of whether they've still had the power to keep you along for the ride, they might've. or maybe not, everyone's different. but if you ask a general question you have to get a generalized answer which states nothing is really a waste of dev time something is only a "waste" if nobody sees it AND your team didn't learn anything from it as a bit of context, i work in gamedev. i have seen an entire gamemode fleshed out into 100+ selectable abilities all balanced against eachother only to scrap the whole system. was it a waste? no, we got a lot of valuable testing data and knowledge of the genre we sit in and where we belong in it
>>566744562 the fact that the first thing you said about side order is related to plot invalidates the rest of your wall of text gameplay sucks, thus waste of dev time, always, with no exception if you are in gamedev and don't see value in gameplay being as good as it can be, quit, nobody should be playing your fucking games
>>566747746 im in gamedev but not in game design, so it's not entirely my expertise, i should've clarified, so i'm generally inclined to bring up things other than the pure gameplay as well because imo they also matter but i did mention the game design of it, did i not? and in the wider world the general opinion of it is "fun but needs more content", i'm not sure how that really clashes with what i'm saying or how that makes it a "waste" my point is moreso that "waste" is a tough thing to quantify because a) anything that enriches the game or even just keeps it fresh and content flowing is value, and b) the amount of things thrown away in R&D is insane
>>566744562 Fuzzy takos barely being in the game make them a waste. It's like when games introduce a new control scheme for one stage that's shorter than a minute, like why even bother? you spend longer making these things than any player will ever spend even looking at them
The beauty of splatoon is that given the depth the setting has, you could theoretically make a bunch of spinoffs that don't adhere to the standard game mechanics like say an ika ika revolution rhythm game spinoff.
Truth is the first game would have died in one week if it wasn't for woomy. Gameplay doesn't matter as long as there is woomy. We all play to this day because of woomy. Praise be to woomy.
>>566763135 Your not wrong the woomers and the veemers do make the game much more enjoyable and keep you playing far longer than if the game lacked them.
>>566756972 on one hand, yes, there is heaps of potential, on another, what's the point of splatoon if you don't use its core mechanics? instead of "ddr but woomy-skinned", you should be thinking "what other genres can work with splat's turf mechanics?" imagine a splatoon turn-based strategy or a splatoon racing game with inkable ground
>>566766874 in terms of paint, they have no paint i'm usually not a big fan of curb-stomps, but demolishing low turf comps brick by brick is a lot of fun an unstoppable, triumphant march towards inevitable victory, assuming you can prevent your teammates from feeding of course
>>566782756 >snipewriter warps the meta around itself by providing safe backline paint, uniquely among the weapon roster >oh, i know, we need to add more things that provide safe backline paint to make it balanced!
>>566784472 I'll play till the hour too if there's room. >>566784625 Don't sweat it, it's open. Meta's frustrating but playing with friends makes it bearable.
>>566784468 Kit's stupid but the real problem is the main itself, you could pick the fucking beakon kit and still rape everyone in solo queue. Giving it nigh-shooter mobility on top of the indirects getting larger is way too much and it's baffling they only gave it 10 PFS as the only nerf.
>>566807767 That's nothing new. The western splat community, especially the competitive side, seems to have someone new to ebin cancel all the time cause horny retards can't stop trying to groom minors.
>>566800872 the game tells you it's time, brother pack intensify action and run speed (yes) and go learn the ways of gooberman rule of thumb for charges, 40 is 3-liner range, 100 is squiffer range, 180 is boozler range, use the three modes of operation based on where the opponent is, using more than what you need is wasteful 60+40 bamboozles are your bread and butter for midrange keepaway, you don't lose momentum with short charges and rsu so you can outstrafe short-ranged guns, think wiper but with extra aiming and a bit less speed charges between 60 and 100 are lemon charges, ok to use if you need a bit more time to line up your shot or you see someone with exact damage needed to finish off, but if you are past 70, you're not lined up and the opponent isn't gaining on you, go for a 100 for consistency never! hold partials, only 100+ charges go to recon to find good surge spots and general sniping locations to handle midrange and harass big arms with 100s and 180s, it might be a lousy sniper but it is still a charger, an apex predator class torpedo is the perfect sub for goob both mechanically and thematically, and goob is super ink efficient if you don't stick to big charges, so use it more more more torp bonk combos are strong for quick close encounters, but only bonk if pressed, use the missile mode more to make the opponent choose between dying to you now, dying to your torp later, or running away and dying to a 100-charge, think rapid deco but you can chase them down if they choose to disengage because your range grows faster than they can swim away goob has splash's paint output with tapshots and missiles, and missiles are a perfect special for goob, so paint whenever you can chant "bless ngmi" thrice for adding healthbars to make the task of judging damaged opponents to finish off with precisely portioned partials trivial and don't forget to wear something very very silly, psychological damage is part of the deal so capitalize on it
>>566810287 addendums goob bamboozles are much easier than perfect 50-50 booz boozles, and faster than "naive" 67+33 boozles (nevermind noob full charge boozles) goob bamboozles handily outgun wiper, the speed i meant is strafe also chant to ngmi for adding a second ring for 100-charge, it's nice qol
>>566810634 also, with it being a charger, you get full benefits of short action, if opponent is gaining, hold the charge and just disengage, you have the freedom to if it's a 100, save it, if i's a lemon, drop it but not immediately, opponents are tracking the glow and will have to switch to tracking a dimmer ink trail holding sub-100 charges does not work because of the unsquid buffer, it not only takes time but it's also the one bit of long action the weapon is saddled with, you make yourself vulnerable for no benefit over dropping and going for a fresh boozle don't even be tempted to hold onto a ~90-charge to turn into 100 after unsquid because charging more after holding is behind another buffer hold is for big charges on distant targets exclusively
>>566812557 imagine a hypothetical you're lounging on a sofa doing nothing of value on a quiet saturday day your bro comes over, sits next to you and gives you a cookie do you a: say "oh neat, thanks bro" and eat the cookie b: get suspicious and smell it first, it might be a ruse or c: >No one asked
>>566808535 It's also that children nowadays see writing documents like that as a way to gain clout and/or settle interpersonal drama. Playing as judge, jury and executioner often in very larpy ways. Often doing more harm to any victim involved, especially in the rare occasion that something actually illegal happened and these people refuse to actually alert authorities because writing cloud documents is more valuable to them The danger being that all of these documents potentially exist and might haunt people forever ... it's probably not good to settle playground drama this way ...
>19:48, 29 January 2022 Liz (talk | contribs) deleted page Woomy (Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 January 22#Woomy (XFDcloser)) So cruel...
>>566785260 It's fun playing together, yeah, I just feel bad that all the wins were despite me, and not with me (won't even say thanks to me lol). Putting my obvious dumb mistakes aside, it gets frustrating when literally everyone outplays and outskills me all the time. >>566785951 >Does everyone but me have a switch 2? its so expensive just for raiders and its even going up in price later. Depends on your priorities, but one could argue that it's worth it just for the improved performance in S3 (remember that they gimped S3 graphics on NS1 to make it more on par with NS2). Then your have Bananza which is very good, MKW which is fun, and Raiders soon. And other titles already released or coming up. You could have saved up for it for a year or two knowing that it was inevitably coming. Over the lifespan of the console and the value you'll get out of it it's really not that much. >>566786418 It's a screenshot saved from the native video capture.
>>566864535 When Shiver & Frye are no where to be seen at base camp during Raiders this is what I know they are up too. >IF the game was rated 18+ not E then ngmi could have left the sex cut animations in the game.
>>566880018 I'm sure they have them lots of them. I also would not be the least be surprised to find out the team uses the those high end models that get used for the live for all kinds of lewds both images and animations of them.
>>566881559 i bought a little stack of games when i got my switch2 (last time i rly gamed was wii era) and i've basically only played splatoon of that stack...
>>566880619 doing proper lewd animations is a good bit of work, but making nude versions and nude art makes sense for character design and understanding of the anatomy in general so i can see it happening on company time
>>566883619 >lewd animations is a good bit of work Your right it is but it would explain all the lets just add a pole to fix the problem for a map and why SO was so bare bones they spent all the time making porn with official models.
>>566900081 blasters are balanced in older games because you take place of a shooter and lose out on paint by picking one, you can win more fights but you can't capitalize on them, and if you don't keep winning you'll get pushed back blasters are not balanced in 3 because everyting including your backliner shits out paint
>get 3 wins in a row with the same team in series >in queue for the 4th >the rest of them get dropped and I get put into solo queue >4th game is a massive flar I'm noticing
>>566903139 that's fixable with some practice pick any shooter and consciously aim to hit first 1-2 shots every single time you pull the trigger at someone you'll build up consistency fast, and if you miss it's not a big deal either, shooters can generally afford to spray a bit
>>566904142 >that's fixable with some practice Apparently not for me because I've been splatting my toon since 2017 and still have dogshit aim, no matter how many times I've tried to play shooters
I'm sorry but as long as AoE remains viable, let alone top tier, this game will be garbage. If you main a blaster, roller, slosher or stringer I will not respect you as a person. Play a real weapon and learn to fucking aim.
i wish splatoon's single player had a gimmick where your tank was 3 times as big as in multiplayer, but you could only refill it at checkpoints i want resource management in my shooters
>>566906695 blasters's aoe is not for not aiming, it's to kick you out of cover and into the open luna splats in 40f with indirects, you can outgun it with jet squelcher fucking do it
>>566909276 >luna splats in 40f with indirects In 40 frames from the luna's point of view from the victim's point of view it's way shorter and like most blasters, if you're hit with the first blast you're fucking dead unless you were already swimming in the opposite direction at full speed
>>566909445 >from the victim's point of view if you give up initiative, you'll get slammed by a charger point blank what a novel concept, huh? if you don't want to die, either fight or avoid fighting, meandering will get you killed guranteed
>>566909759 that exact scenario if you let anyone take initiative on you, you will likely lose the engagement, regardless of the weapon just because blasters can have it easy and tilt you for that doesn't mean you will fare any better without them in play a shooter will kill you in the same situation all the same
>>566916048 you sort of just take it in bit by bit while playing, just have to keep playing more if you see anyone do particularly good in a match, watch their replay and see what they do differnetly than yourself: in a general positioning sense, when they engage, when they run, etc
>>566916573 I have almost 10 times your playtime and not even I feel confident in my own game sense. The good players here have been doing this shit for over a decade across all three games.
>>566916048 where people are is just baisic awareness. just keep them in mind. there are only 7 dudes to track split into two groups that largely can't leave their territories, you can handle some extra parralel computing. the replays are the best thing 3 added to splat. rewatch them from time to time, particularly note two kinds of situations- ones where you feel everything fell apart to see where you could've done something differently, and ones where seemingly nothing happens to see where you should've been to not miss the action.
>>566935284 man, I'm jealous of how much merch the Japanese get for splatoon, even if this seems pretty low tier compared to all the fun stuff they get
>>566906695 >most specials you see are basically automatic or 1-tap = insta kill aoe This game is made for retarded cripples that can't aim in general Truly the accessibility-conscious shooter slop Also chargers don't actually have to aim or *charge* either
>>566957727 we don't know shit about the clothes situation, we don't know if we're getting more than just the basic set of weapons, we have no idea what the gameplay loop is, don't know how the mech functions in co-op, we've only seen 2 gadgets, etc. There's for sure gonna be a dedicated direct too
>>566966727 did anyone refute that those are extremely big boobs we're only refuting that she's fat because she clearly isn't >just be normal in the general about sexy sea creatures?
>>566965271 kold avatarfags with that specific veemo constantly to the point i’m not so against koldschizo (ballin) harassing him. he could go after snakehands too to be honest.
>see a gear thats used by an /ink/er >try it for my own outfit >all i see when she wears it is that other /ink/er and not my woomy >never use the gear again
