>>566687607 So, I decided to play around with it myself, and ran into what you say, so I poked around and found that the cattail.nif isn't pointing to the standalone textures that I originally tried baking the color into at FatCatFollower\Tail but to the original dint folder. Correcting the texture paths in the nif fixed it. However, if you do bake the color in it will make Hair Colour Sync NG incompatible because it will tint the hair again and look super black, so you also have to change the shader type from Hair Color to Default and remove the Hair_Soft_Lighting shader flags and I'm not sure if this will make it look worse under certain conditions. I'd say just leaving Hair Colour Sync NG as a requirement is the way to go.
>>566695585 I always wondered why HF added so many clay deposits when they're al functionally infinite. I guess Bethesda thought it would make the world feel more real if you could actually mine clay from a bunch of different river banks.
>>566699257 I think it's good for gameplay too. While there aren't a whole lot of uses for clay and without mods I think they all involve building the HF homes, it's nice that clay deposits are in many logical places rather than sending you on a scavenger hunt through Skyrim if you want one of the most abundant materials on Earth.
>>566699532 That was before HF and I don't Bethesda actually expected people to chop firewood for hours on end. I only do it for the crafting recipes that require it and if I want an easy disposition increase for NPCs buy firewood with the special dialogue.

>>566706432 The shitification of TES was inevitable. It has happened to pretty much every IP now. My guess is because more women work at these places, and *most* women don't understand (or hate) male desires/power fantasies, which these IPs were built from/for.

>>566713164 Back when Elder Scrolls still had real RPG mechanics, mage classes were usually explicitly forbidden from using armor in Arena/Daggerfall, and typically didn't have them as favored skills and had less strength to carry things in Morrowind/Oblivion. But you are correct that in Skyrim there's no real reason why they can't just use armor other than roleplaying.
>>566713428 >and had less strength to carry things in Morrowind/Oblivion mages also have less carry weight in skyrim, are you leveling stamina on a mage? did you just forget that spell effectiveness was a thing and decided to come up with a bullshit reason?
>>566713637 >are you leveling stamina on a mage? there's no reason to level stamina period in skyrim, at least in vanilla. having a follower gives you more than enough carry weight to haul around anything worth selling unless you're a hoarder, both light and heavy armor get 0 carry weight from those perks, and you can easily solve all your in-combat stamina problems with vegetable soup which gives you infinite power attacks, or just use food and potions otherwise.
>did you just forget that spell effectiveness was a thing i've never heard of wearing armor affecting spells and i've been playing the 'rim on and off since 2012. it's probably something specific to your modded set up. if you're referring to enchants, you know you can just put those on regular armor right?
>>566713637 This really should come back. But I know it won't. Bethesda's reasoning being something like >Why make armor if not everyone can wear it all the time >We don't want to lock people out of content for making a choice
>>566714371 I'm really split on this character. Yet at the same time it also just seems like another bogged bimbo with tasteless fake balloon tits and bizarre proportions.
I sent three Breton Skooma whores to Narzulbur, and those fucking Orcs haven’t paid me the ebony ore they owe. That’s some bullshit. >>566723250 I always pictured anything under 100 to be really young. Altmer and Dunmer seem to have the longest lifespan and there are a LOT of dunmer that are well past 200 in game. Most of the gray quarter residents were born in Morrowind. Brand-Shei, Teldryn Sero if you take him by his word, Erandur is hinted at being old, Neloth even if you argue that being more of an exception and not the rule.
>>566723891 . >>566723891 I don't think it's really established, but tes elves iirc usually don't live longer than 200-300 years. Unless you're a mage and can prolong your life with magic or smth. But whatever it is, she is at least supposed to be around 40 in human years.
>>566725880 That still seems kinda young honestly. Especially since there are several confirmed 200+ year old mer in the game that are middle aged at best. I've never really liked to take Teldryn's line as proof because depending on your read of the character he could very well just be lying to you about meeting Jiub (or assuming he is telling the truth is more than likely very young when he did), but Brand-Shei actually is nearly 200 (confirmed via the book) and doesn't look much older than a 30-40 year old.
>>566726303 I mean, being "around 40" is considered relatively young nowadays too. And purely hypothetically, it would be really young if we were able to prolong our lives 300 or 400 years.
>>566720596 >Are you a plastic surgeon or is this something you learned about from TikTok? Because no one talks like this in real life. >You have a nice jawline and uh… buccal fat >Quickest way to give others the ick. Like commenting on… philtrums. Knowing facial anatomy is quite pertinent to making good-looking Skyrim characters since sliders directly affect those features. Going into /tesg/ and complaining about people knowing the technical names of facial features would be like going into /ic/ and complaining referring to limb segments and skeletal structures with their technical names.

I think I'm done with Glenmoril. I finished up the quest involving Ja'zel and the only thing still in my journal is a quest that gave me a to be continued in the next version warning. My main takeaway from this was to no play an unfinished mod ever again. It left me so unsatisfied. I will wait until it's all done before I try again, I will skip on the AI voice acting too, I think that the robotic voices not only reduced my enjoyment they also made it harder to follow the plot.

Sienna was a good example on how even UBE waifus can have good faces. Fatcat is funny and fat. The dude that customized the MarieRose preset made a good job improving on the original. Zharah is good i guess? (i'm not really into lizards so i don't really know) he delivers fairly consistently and even made a follower mod for her.
Basically what counts as low effort and shit: - Everything that looks objectively bogged - Anyone refusing to fix the lighs on their ENB preset - Anyone using a default preset with the only change being a KS hairdo hairstyle, same thing applies to anyone here using the draenei race mod and changing the base color to pink or green or whatever - anyone that posts feet pics without using mods that improve the CBBE/UNP low res models and textures (I'm not into feet but i despise when people don't even try).
>>566728148 There is one about the descendant of a priestest of Kyne turned into whore who has a curse that makes anyone she meets completely obsessed with treating her as family, The DB is so affected the he makes a demonic pact and enters some hellworld to try to revive her. There is another about Hermaeus Mora getting a slaver to curse you so you would go to that hellworld and accomplish something, I didn't get what that was all about but Vaermina is trying to sabotage him. >>566730257 doubt it. dis magnus world, erryone else just livin in it
idk ime id just rather have the extra like 100 weight for potions, or literally fucking anything else, other than armor, always. and for every game other than skyrim, where encumbrance actually matters, its just always more beneficial to be able to move quicker and jump farther than it is to get whatever minor damage reduction %. and on the off chance you DO need to just facetank a bunch of minotaurs or whatever? bound armor, or shield spells. no biggie
even on thieves that can barely cast a spell outside the illusion school, id rather have the room for loot and to be able to gtfo quicker.
>>566731641 also the crazy dunmer lady in shivering isles. tho shes just making golems with it
>>566732068 It serves as the same function as plastic surgery. Fake tits absolutely exists in skyrim. And that yellow altmer one has the best set of bolt ones ive seen. They are so firm that you could bounce a quarter off of them
>>566732198 Yeah, they've always been that and it's always been the weakest part of the games. And that should change now because we've had 15 years of open world rpgs and open world games in general with superior combat systems. That should change now because "it's not an action game, it's an RPG!" has ceased to be an effective gaslight for insufficient game design
>>566732081 I want Bethesda to improve the combat too but I don't want them to make it into another generic rollslop game either. Maybe if they expanded on the directional swings system that was half-implemented in Daggerfall/Morrowind and made combat similar to Mount and Blade, that would be nice
>>566732424 >generic rollslop game Oh From has its own problems. Rolling giving you invincibility has been the absolute death of From's game development and now dominates its entire design philosophy so that its combat is shite for a completely different reason from Bethesda.
>>566732081 Oblivion had a slightly more involved melee combat system relative to Skyrim. Blocking in Skyrim is not only pointless, but actively harms the blocker. While in Oblivion, blocking grants the blocker an opening.
>>566731426 yeah no shit since the entire story is some 2deep4u babble dreamt up by a schizophrenic jap don't get me wrong i enjoyed it but shit doesn't make any sense like the little kid that turns into a sack of sludge for some fucking reason????? what was the point of that aside from O MY MISERY PORN
>>566732560 >>566732424 Given their track record, its going to mimic dark souls. Every game BGS releases copies what was popular 3-5 years before their game releases
>>566732580 Dunmer don't really like orcs, they've had historical conflict with the Malacath-worshipping orcs that made their way to Morrowind some time in the 1E, but that could also just be typical dunmer hate for all n'wahs. Altmer probably see orcs as a racial abomination and wouldn't like their allegiance to the empire so I could see beef between them even if orcs are orcs because of their loyalty to (what was formerly) Trinimac, the god-hero of the elves.
>>566732538 and they also know, just as well as their audience does, that "mods will fix it" so idk man i wouldnt expect anything else at this point. maybe theyll asspull a miracle and not manage to piss off their entire audience (again). but desu i rly rly rly rly rly doubt it. the next game will just be skyrim with less stats somehow. and prolly some scheisty online/in-game store nonsense too
just mod the old games, the rest is unimportant. trust me ive seen this episode before
>>566732962 >oblivion Lotr, came out a few years before oblivion >Skyrim viking stuff, got popular a few years before release >tes6 Tbd, but i think itll be blm-lite
>>566733072 Thats why starfield felt so bad. The entire design philosophy was to sell you mods and thats it. They made it as barebones as possible so each person could buy as many mods as they can afford.
>>566733254 A Story of Ice and Fire began to get more popular again a few years prior and led to the show that released the same many months prior to Skyrim
>>566733254 Right around 2008-9. Back then the internet had a surge in viking related things. In 2013 we got the show, which i think is because of the popularity from 08-09
>>566732684 ppl are just THAT averse to playing the older games i guess? idk why anyone even remembers the cart scene anymore desu. i havent seen it in probably over a decade now. i guess everyone has alt-start mods now, but did ppl here actually not have a hard save from the moment you get off the cart? it was literally the first thing i did after i rolled my first new character, just so i wouldnt have to suffer through that stupid shit again
I don't care what the combats like. I want the world and exploration to be good. I think thats the most fair and reasonable request. Gamers rarely have good ideas and arent aware of what they are doing and mostly dont want the things they think they do.
Lile that dude from yesterday who went max immersion and went insane from picking plants and eating. Leave it to the devs.
>>566732537 I find Daggerfall's combat pretty boring 2bdesu. It's just backpedalling while attacking. Directional attacks have practically no bearing on the gameplay and it doesn't even have blocking, not even dice-roll blocking like Morrowind. I guess backstabbing adds some interactivity.
It's a tossup between Oblivion and Skyrim for me, though their systems are pretty similar. I think the main reason why Oblivion combat can feel bad has little to do with the combat system itself but more with the horrendous level scaling which turns everything into damage sponges.
I don't want all the nonsense of the lotd museum but the house attached to it is pretty nice. Is it really so much to ask for a big fancy mansion house mod like that without dragon, daedra and dibella statues everywhere?
>skyrim copied a show that released after skyrim was already almost done, and didn't get popular until its second season after skyrim was already out Love this meme. Let's keep saying it.
>>566733872 yea i guess youre right its been ages since i played actual DOSggerfall the AI is just "run at you" and dump magicka if you have it i still rly like the feedback of actually swinging your weapon.
>>566734158 in case you haven't noticed, shitposters from last year have returned with the same tired bait, it only makes sense that ritual posts from that time would return as well
>>566732653 She got cursed when Oswald attacked and her body started collapsing, likely due to something Ja'zel did to her. The point was to push you into the arc finale. The DB is cursed into loving her and after all that happens going on a rampage against Ja'zel was the only path he could follow.
If you guys actually want to know what Skyrim was aping, it's Reign of Fire, ignoring the fact that the movie was released in 2002, the dragon designs are practically lifted 1:1 from it, even down to being what pedantic autists would refer to as "wyvrens" since they only have two legs instead of four. The plot is about dragons being real and they wake up every few million years world to eat 90% of the life on the planet before going back into hibernation. Dragons coming back to eat everything, sound familiar? I'm fairly certain Todd or Emil named the movie as a direct inspiration.
>>566734528 How did we get here from "I hope TES6's combat doesn't suck this time"? >>566734620 You're loony if you think it'll be anything other than Dune.
>>566734667 Dune doesn't strike me as the kind of film Emil and Todd would want to take more inspiration from than "cool setting". Villenueve might be mainstream, but I still think his films can be a tad bit slow for people like Todd and the gang. I'd think they would rather take inspo from MCU or Avatar.
>>566735264 They didn't decide to make the game about skyrim because of a surge in viking searches over a year later. And if you want to go ahead and search for what those searches were for, you'll realize it's because of the Minnesota Vikings and Brett Favre. Skyrim was popular because of the exponential growth of the vidya industry at the time, and it and GOT are together responsible for the viking/gritty medieval fantasy push that happened in the 10s. No I won't read up the reply chain to see if this is even what we're talking about, I just wanted to point out that the surge in viking searches is unrelated.
>>566735264 The 2010 children's animated film How to Train Your Dragon has a better chance at being the inspiration for Skyrim than this supposed surge in "viking interest".
>>566735974 >main antagonist of skyrim is a giant dragon >main antagonist of how to train your dragon is a giant dragon Todd has some explaining to do.
>>566736337 clearly it's caste based and only the chaff is sent outside the province, based on the berber-like upper class that was showcased in earlier titles
>>566736241 Your media literacy skill level: 0. Everyone talks and acts like the Great War was something that recently happened yet it happened 50 years ago. Im playing Dawnguard and the Moth Priest mentioned how the white tower in the Imperial City was "damaged in the recent war and hasn't been repaired since." Its been 50 fucking years and they still haven't repaired it?
>>566742343 >CUTE thank >>566742607 It's rather simple but very clunky. You 'craft' scrolls which add weapon arts that you assign to 5 possible categories (STR/DEX/ARC etc). You have one of those unlocked from the start, which is called fortune, which is simply an item that you need to favorite and assign a hotkey. You use a 'scroll' like flaming strike, assign it to fortune, hotkey fortune and if you press that hotkey you do the thing.
You unlock more stuff by killing enemies and collecting the mcguffins they drop. In theory each category item has two slots, one for simply pressing the hotkey and one for holding sprint and pressing the hotkey, however the latter one doesn't work for me.
>>566743287 You'd think with all the modern frameworks and GUI shit the author would move away from fucking scrolls crafting/item activators but here we are
Conanesque TES 6 Hammerfell is coming. I can feel it. Todd will deliver and save Bethesda and video games and world peace and shit. We're in for Morrowind 2.0 experience.
>>566743287 It's all a bit convoluted and a bit out of place plus not terribly responsive on my setup but on the other hand melee combat does feel pretty basic without some "flair". Still debating if I should keep it

Well it took all fucking night but the beta like thing of Wewlad Manor uploaded. Anyone be interested it checking it out? No lighting or navmesh yet but maybe you guys can spot issuesI am missing. Gotta warn ya, it's filesize is nearly 9gb. And that's post CAO and bsaing everything. Hopefully when I do finish this I can trim a little more from it:
update I made last night, just overwrite the main file with this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dmv0AmYrWPlnN-XPHSmjdVeWubSOkgcG/view?usp=drive_link
>>566744226 I think it's a bit too complex for that. It's pretty much just the setup that is annoying and clunky, once you're done you just press a key and the magic happens.
>>566745328 I feel like Chivalry's rock-paper-sissors combat would be good. In Chivalry, strikes counter kicks, kicks counter blocks, and blocks counter strikes. There's also other mechanics in-between.
>>566745564 It's meme shit. I'll stand by my original statement. You're an idiot. 1,000 unique weapons, all taking a backseat to LMAO KICK BUTTON slop. Don't @ me again. This debate is effectively over.
my wife, also a redguard, recently gave birth and the child seems kind of fair, which i supposed could be attributed to skyrim's sunless climate, but then how do you explain the blonde hair? i suspect foul magics at play, this land is cursed i tell you.
>>566745063 >It's all a bit convoluted and a bit out of place plus not terribly responsive on my setup but on the other hand melee combat does feel pretty basic without some "flair". Still debating if I should keep it
I think I'll keep it. There's only so much you can do even with BFCO/MCO movesets and some of them actually need the elden rim stuff, like the DD2 ultra greatsword moveset. That being said it's only as flashy and involved as you want it to be, there's no reason to use the stuff that feels too out of place.
I had an issue with the dTry keytrace thingy because I use the extended version but luckily it received an update to make it work with elden rim. Sometimes the keytrace doesn't work but it's a rather minor issue. But it's probably a good idea to get the keystuck fix as well.
>>566747797 skyrim is a game i play periodically. i actually uninstalled, but had backed up my whole mod list onto a USB which took very little effort to get back up and running w/her fully intact

>>566747138 >>566748198 random loot is fine just dont do it like skyrim or oblivion for that matter, tho that was still far better than skyrims implementation the problem is that skyrim basically doesnt HAVE many uniques outside of daedric artifacts. so they just filled it out with slop. its just [generic weapon] of [spell effect]. thats it. no double effects, no unique names, no unique models. just basic bitch weapon model with some glowy saranwrap on it
the other big glaring issue is the way loot is handled, period, in skyrim. theres nearly nothing actually "placed" manually in the whole world. its just lazy and makes looting chests just seem like a diceroll. youre gonna open em all, for the loot, but its never gonna be truly interesting. and its not like there werent a bazillion already made artifacts they couldve roughly ported/approximated from oblivion or morrowind.
>>566749109 Stupid idea to begin with. How are you gonna painstakingly handcraft an entire continent in Skyrim’s buggy engine, model every asset, and have it done anytime between now and the next millennium? Especially considering you’re a team of unpaid modders doing it in your own free time, not exactly the A-Team. The whole project just screams “an ideasguy thought of this”.
>>566749371 I'm scared that they're not going to reflect on that at all when it comes to the next game, and we'll just get the same loot system as Skyrim.
>>566749720 listen man ive seen this a few times now it will be a slightly worse version of skyrims implementation. of everything. i promise.
this ISNT the time for BGS to be bucking the trend which ironically means it prolly IS time to do that, but theyre pussies now, so they wont. they need their next skyrim that they can re-release for the next 15yrs. shitfield wasnt it, so this is the last shot. theyre gonna go as lowest common denominator as they can manage. its been that way for every single game todd has directed, without fail
>>566750508 i dont doubt todd COULD do it you listen to the guy talk, he genuinely is one of the last of the OG tabletop guys in the industry rn. he KNOWS what an RPG is supposed to be. hes just also caught up in the business of trying to make a lot of fucking money. and i think thats the particular devil on his shoulder thats got the reigns rn
>>566747858 Cycles consisting of reboot to dawn era, et'adas change theirs roles and thus the laws of "physics". Basically these are universes that exist one after the other in the same bubble.
>>566750246 >shitfield wasnt it, so this is the last shot personally i think they see the writing on the wall with BG3 and elden ring being much higher-friction than skyrim and also being enormous successes. I think there's a good chance that TES6 is more of an RPG than TESV was, but I don't think it's going to be in the way that morrowind was. I think they want to make tactile games, while morrowind isn't very tactile. so I anticipate an attempt to deepen the combat systems, chasing ER's coattails
>>566751026 >>566751204 Will unpacking them fix it? Cause I ain't seeing any dummy esps in my folders. Either I accidentally deleted em or they never generated.
>>566751321 its an option in CAO but the only downside of unpacking is you would clobber shit in your loosefiles, unless you make a backup of all folders and restore them afterwards
>tfw i will never be able to play skyrim together as stickbug with any of you because she relies on way too many custom racemenu features that don't transfer over STR
>>566751124 Now that they're bought by Microsoft as well, neither he nor anyone at Bethesda can make anything but what has the most market appeal, because they need to bring in as much money as possible to Microsoft, it's not enough to just have good sales. They need all the sales. If they're found out to not have tried everything to make the game have the most amount of sales it could. They'll be axed, or even found liable in court for sabotaging microsofts profits.
>>566755024 I don't understand why people have so much trouble with this. Things like stat sheets and dice rolls are the G part. The RP part is "I put on my robe and wizard hat." It's already a computer game with computer game mechanics, so if the RP part is there it's an RPG.
After 278 more hours I'm done with the Hall of Forgotten museum. I think my tastes might be very Russian because I enjoyed their choices of quest mods for displays way more than I did most of the ones in the LotD museum. The dev is horrible at writing though, the mod's main quest is ass, the rings involved in the puzzles make the game unstable, every single NPC is extremely unlikable and the MLT is awkward as hell to read.
>>566758296 neither am i i found the big ass spider and the library but i think i'm lost in the labyrinth because it keeps going down instead of up it's good though so far isn't it, anon was right with his recommendation i like being showered in health potions and soul gems and money and the one voice actress that has been talking was done well instead of some discord kitten breathing into her headset like so many others
>>566758448 Midnight Sun Depths Of The Reach Rot Below is alright so far besides all the damn CTDs >>566758580 Could've done without the singing but true
that simplifies it too much though, by that logic, duke nukem is an RPG, because you RP as duke nukem, and The G is shooting aliens.
RPG as a genre literally harkens back to TTRPGs, which centers around the idea of Building a character to inhabit a world, with the character sheets and dice rolls being an abstraction of that Characters traits and characteristics. as you remove that level of abstraction between the character's abilites, which are Manipulable by the player creating them, and the things that are set in stone (The setting, The narrative, The NPCs), you drift further away from the RPG lable. It's why we have the lable of action rpg for some games, because those games tend to remove the player/character skill divide where they would normally be present in a true RPG.
>>566756542 having a strict class system inherently butts up against the RP part tho.
imo the way it was done in daggerfall was nearly perfect for RPing, and they didnt need to rly change anything. skills lvl by using them, and lvls allow for allocation of attribute points the only dumb part is the random amount of pts. but it was STILL better than obliv or MWs version. instead, they continued to just make that system worse and that includes MW, which introduced the END problem with each game, until gutting it completely. what were left with in skyrim is a very very poor set of mechanics with which to actually roleplay anymore. you could maybe salvage it somewhat if there were more little random quests that allowed for any type of choice. not EVERYTHING needs to have consequences, even just a little flavor txt goes a long way. again, i point to daggerfall, and esp all the new quests from mods. some of those quests are literally just fetch quests with some lines of txt, and it still gives you more to RP around with than the entirety of the radiant quest system in skyrim
in fact, its kinda baffling how the radiant quest thing was a key selling point on skyrims release; but not only was it basically just a rehashing of daggerfalls system, but they arguably did it better there

>>566761075 thats the thing tho. you dont actually need to be realistic. it just needs to have the illusion of being big enough where you can get lost in it. now maybe that actually happens to some ppl on their first playthrough. but by the 2nd or 3rd? youll quickly realize how stupidly small the gameworld is. and even the macro gameworld aside, the """cities""" have the same problem themselves. if you can see clearly from one side of the city to the other at street lvl, your city is too fucking small
>>566761075 Look, I get things being representative and some bandit lairs make sense like the mammoth one and the skooma smugglers. However, like what do the rogue wizards or necromancer do for food? How do they procure supplies especially if they are in an out of the way place?
