>>566780213 Yes she is Unknown about timing. In RT she just "disappeared" so maybe that's her backstory for being in RT >She claims to still be the Lord Captain and that Incendia is an upstart usurper >But she doesn't seem to have her warrant anymore
>>566781072 It has computerized roleplaying to include dialogue choices, character building, differing NPC reactions based on choices and style of dress, and even fade-to-black waifu fucking. It clearly is. In fact, in many ways one might say it's more of a CRPG than certain other darlings around here.
>>566784406 Because it's gay to fuck women. The clitoris is a tiny penis, the labia are made of ball sack skin, grool is just precum, and they even have anuses like men. Anyone who fucks women is a faggot.
So we oft discuss incentives for the evil choices in games. Lots of games may give you evil options, but the roleplaying ends up just being insane, or murderous, or whatever. Giving actual real incentives to be evil for people who don't want to be evil is actually pretty rare, and is something I would like more of.
Here, we have a pretty silly choice on the surface. Accept an enemy's surrender, or literally commit a warcrime by murdering surrendering enemies. It appears to be the sort of absurd evil for the sake of it evil choice we don't really care too much for.
But consider for a moment the context of Star Wars. Immersing yourself in negative emotions and feeding on harm and suffering inflicted upon others actually makes you stronger. Harnessing intense emotions actually lets you exert more control over the Force in a tangible sense. So what if you actually got stronger from being an evil piece of shit? Would a mechanical benefit incentivize players to finally pick the evil route in games?
I actually think the answer is yes, it would, and bg3 is the evidence. How many guides have you read where it starts out with "well, make your stats X, Y, and Z, because you're going to get the hag hair to op them off". Most of them. Go check, the vast majority of guides assume the hag hair as part of it. Yet, obtaining the hag hair involves letting a green hag live, you trade her life for the hair. You are releasing her to claim further victims in the future, when you could have killed her, for selfish gain. Yet thousands of online guides just assume the hag hair, because it has an actual mechanical benefit.
It seems lots of people's character's morals are for sale, once a mechanical benefit for being evil shows up. Interesting to think about.
>>566785958 >But consider for a moment the context of Star Wars. Immersing yourself in negative emotions and feeding on harm and suffering inflicted upon others actually makes you stronger. This is false, and an autistic literalist misread of Sith religion and philosophy.
>>566786005 A Paladin girl is basically a tomboy church girl with medieval hygiene. Read: muscular not soft, hairy, sweaty, bathed once a week. Nobody wants to fuck that. If you're going to RP, do it right and put some brain into it.
The posts crying about anyone who puts any effort into posting are extremely low quality and often times more destructive to the thread than his posts ever are. I'd trade ten of you for one of him and the thread would benefit immensely from it, and I don't even like him.
>pass a skill check >get exp >get loot >potentially VERY good gear >build-defining items that can supercharge combat encounters in your favor >else junk that can be sold >fail the skill check >get some form of permanent debuff that nukes all important stats >potentially cripples a party member for the entire day >lose the skill check so no one else can even attempt it >"sorry, I already tried exploding that door with a bomb, no one else can for the rest of eternity!" >lose all loot permanently how am i expected to just accept a failed skill check? I didn't fuck it up, the dice did, yet I'm still disproportionately punished for that. this shit is so ass, I can't fucking stand it. why respect skill checks at all when the outcome has such a high chance for complete ruination or missed narrative moments?
I like anyone who actually plays games and puts effort into posting about interesting things, so I love the widescreenfag. I don't even know why anyone dislikes him, other than their own general misanthropy.
>>566787013 >I don't even know why anyone dislikes him There was a very solid basis for it once in another thread, but at this point it's just a meme that has taken on a life of it's own and been run into the ground by the usual suspects. Mindless kvetching from the 4chins text messagers designed to make the thread less hospitable to on-topic discussion and more hospital to witless meme fagging.
>>566785958 Thank you for at least trying to spark actual discussion about crpg writing, but I'm afraid this place is genuinely too far gone. This is a shitposting containment thread.
>>566785958 This good post that honestly attempts to discuss an actual issue in the genre writing just receiving a bunch of shitposting genuinely made me feel sad. You people are not worth interacting with and even the few good people left you attack them. How did it get this bad?
>>566785958 The problem is simply that the evil path is the retard's path. It's written to require the player to be retarded, and just results in there being less game to play. I already have to twist myself into a pretzel to justify siding with Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3, and my reward for doing so is a companion I now could have had anyways, and the loss of several NPCs and their associated quests and items. This pattern is extremely common in RPGs which is why people just avoid it now because they've been trained that game devs are lazy and choices are fake. Mechanical edge wouldn't really help.
>>566780213 The funny thing is, no one can really say. Time travel is possible in setting via warp, as ships sometimes appear out of a warp jump before they left.
Swtor is an okay game and has some fun class quests but all the jedi vs sith shit is the dullest fucking part of the game and that's all this dude ever talks about.
>>566787563 >How did it get this bad? Really bad and selective moderation over an extended period of time, which often seems to be directly colluding with shitposters.
>>566787175 >lovecraftian my eyes instantly glazed over being inspired by lovecraft means there is a 120% chance you are a pseud and your writing is shit
>>566787907 Very pedestrian opinion. The reality is that Imperial Agent is hugely overrated, and Jedi Knight and Sith Inquisitor are the only good stories in the game. It also becomes increasingly incoherent to play a non-Jedi as you get into the later expansions where a quick draw drug smuggler seems a little out of his depth. Jedi/Sith is the only real way to play.
>>566788206 It is. It fits the definition better than most commonly accepted CRPGs, that doesn't change just because it has online functionality. So does Baldur's Gate 3.
>>566787606 I think the hag hair is a good example of giving players something actually attractive to see if they become evil for it, and a pretty good number of players fell for it. There are no published numbers on this choice specifically, but just going by general discussion for a few years now there is a good number of players who did it.
I think the answer is to write reasonable evil options. Which in real life, selfishness is almost always the root of most evil. You have to actually give people an advantage if they're easier. They get more money, easier interactions, more gear, etc. People are evil in real life for something, more often than not. Not because they're Joker from batman. So videogames that attempt to write realistic scenarios should reflect that.
Too many games have the "good" option generally be the best one, or at least equal, where everything turns out fine and everyone holds hands and sings. A crpg where the good, moral options suck to make, give you less money, give you less gear, harder road, etc, would reflect real life better, and it would also give people an actual incentive to be evil. A realistic one.
It's a shame we have to scroll past so many blatant outright shitposts just to talk about crpg.
>>566787713 Don't be. Half my old favorite games don't even support it and I have to switch monitors just to play them which is dumb. I just bought it for fun but it's not worth it.
[Chaotic Evil] [Bluff] It's a shame I have to deliberately annoy everyone here and cause a very predictable scene every day then play victim aw gee darn
>>566788128 Have you considered that the later expansions are shit, though? The whole thing just descends into nonsense and vague star wars pandering after they abandoned the eternal throne stuff a quarter of the way through.
>>566788975 I have. Nevertheless, there they are, and if you play you get to them eventually. Once you do, smuggler, trooper, bounty hunter, and agent all feel stupid.
>>566788680 Making it reasonable to be evil is a good first step, but players have to know they aren't cutting the game in half too. It's the reason people leave characters like Camellia or Astarion alive in the first place even though it makes little sense to do so, because all you get for killing them is less game. Developers treat evil as a failure state because they want to advertise and sell their game as having choice and consequences but they don't want to actually develop it.
>>566785764 She's always been my favorite in BG2. And Insect Plague and Iron Skins with fighter thac0 means she is never a poor choice mechanically in the party. Plus she's the best handled of the returning companions in BG3.
>>566785958 >Would a mechanical benefit incentivize players to finally pick the evil route in games? Sure, but it would be limited to a narrow expression of evil - the kind that is only interested in personal gain. Genuine evil is not always like that. The evil that preys on the weak and vulnerable isn't interested in personal gain. The evil that is cruel, selfish, and petty isn't primarily interested in another +1 stat. I would argue that Ethel in BG3 is not a great implementation of a moral dilemma, because most players - to say nothing of those that blindly follow guides - are not even aware that letting her live is very obviously morally wrong. Mechanical incentives for evil choices are a start, but they are not enough. Ideally, evil choices should have meaningful trade-offs, and so should good choices. If being "good" runs contrary to pragmatism, then you start to run into real-life moral issues. If saving a thousand refugees means a strain on your kingdom, you might think twice about auto-selecting the good option - even if that nets you neutral or evil points. I typed this post before realizing you said much of the same in >>566788680.
>>566786792 That post isn't off topic. It is talking about game design in a way that is very much relevant to the topic of this general. Yours is an obvious shitpost and deserving of a report.
>>566791461 Feel free to scroll past the scary posts with many words. No one is stopping you from talking about CRPGs. This is what you're here for, right?
>The Tyrant Star, also known as Komus and the Hereticus Tenebrae, is an uncategorised stellar anomaly found in the Calixis Sector of the Segmentum Obscurus. Komus appears as a black dwarf star whose arrival in the sky of a world is seen as an imminent herald of catastrophe
>>566780136 An unexplained thing. It's a huge deal for the local region but too small scale to be something GW has explained in the wargame at galaxy scale.
>>566787606 >I already have to twist myself into a pretzel to justify siding with Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3 I think this one was pretty easy to justify. You're in a desperate situation with a mindflayer tadpole in your head. Everyone in the Druid grove, druids and tieflings alike, are unable to help you beyond promising to give you a hand only after you solve all of their problems and they have no real guarantee to back those promises up. The only druid that seems to actually be worth a shit is Halsin and you find him imprisoned by a bunch of fucking goblins. And when you do bust him out all he does is say he can't help you but CAN point you in the right direction IF you solve his problems first. Meanwhile he does tell you that the cult the goblins are a part of holds the answers to your problems, the cult is clearly more powerful than him, his druids, and the refugees, you've already got a way to blend in with and fool the cultists thanks to the mindflayer worm in your head, AND Minthara is open to working with you if you raid the grove. Raiding the Grove is already a way easier proposition than defending the Grove because the Cult has already proven to have the superior force and through you would have a man on the inside to catch the defenders completely unaware. If anything I have to tie myself into a pretzel to justify NOT siding with Minthara.
>>566785958 I normally tolerate and even like your swtorism here but because you mentioned bg3 all I'll give you is a (you) for at least wanting discussion on dialogue choice design.
>>566785958 You should play Pillars 1/2. It offers lots of really excellent pragmatic evil. Bleakwalker Paladins in particular support this playstyle, but there are lots of different nuanced takes on it. Of course it also lets you toss Kana Rua into a sacrificial blood pit of Skaen and then in the next game tell his sister (And one of the seven possible companions) you're the reason he never came home.
>>566789992 there should've been a harem route >Cassia, I love you but I need an heir >I-I understand.. >Kibbelah is the best choice for this >O-Okay, I will bear your child, it is my duty to do so BAM 2 sex routes
>>566796620 It's because they concentrated too much on act 1 to lure people in But the acts 2,3 and 4 were given less attention So when it came to tying loose ends, it's all in act 4, no matter how messy it became
The boat scene after the last battle is evidence of this, so is her off-screen death, so is the magisters and black whatever fighting on an isle they're not even supposed to know about. Maybe there was a well done end for all of it, but it had to make way for all the fixes they had to do
>>566796934 oh that makes sense, i guess it was smart considering when i bought the game like a decade ago im pretty sure i just played the first act and dropped it
>>566779839 What made you realize how fucking old you were? For me, it's seeing that the modern narrative surrounding Veilguard among normalfags or whatever, even "anti-woke" normalfags, and how they would talk about it. Like I saw a lot of "RPG fan" type people saying how bad and how woke Veilguard is and how much worse it is than Inquisition. Inquisition? These people had NOSTALGIA for Inquisition. I'm old enough that I remember when Dragon Age Origins was universally agreed to be the first and last good Dragon Age game. Dragon Age 2 was an EA market-tested abortion (with hints of what would come later, we had no idea how good we had it when EA corpo market tests and appealing to the dudebro market was our biggest worry) Now there are people nostalgic for Inquisition. Cisquisition? Like holy fuck I'm old, I remember when Inquisition was, demonstrably, clearly, not just considered "woke" as fuck in the worst way, like not only in the "so much fucking gay sex and ugly women" way but in the female stand up comedian tier "my pussy is a barnyard; queefs and farts on you XD" kinds of ways. And also hated for being braindead as fuck from a gameplay perspective.
pic somewhat related
p.s. do you have any mods to make Sera hotter, I'm going to play Inquisition and get a straight romance mod and fuck the "holds up spork" out of this 100% Cara Delevingne expy with my big inquisitor cock.
>>566799291 >Now there are people nostalgic for Inquisition. There's no reason to be nostalgic, the game was good. It was MMO-lite but it was good. I played it, I beat it, the companions were good and the quests were pretty fun and the combat was fun too, maps were too big and the MMO aspects tedious but the game was good. There I said it.
>>566799291 >What made you realize how fucking old you were? About six months ago a student asked me about my all time favourite games and when I told him about Ratchet and Clank 2 on the PS2, he told me he has never seen a PS2 or Ratchet and Clank 2 due to them being "retro"
>>566799797 already did, played it twice even, because the first time I just couldn't beat it due to how boring it was game is garbage, worse than DA2 even
>>566799291 >What made you realize how fucking old you were? When I realized my little sisters didn't know what winrar was. But speaking of Dragon Age, replaying DA2 and DAI makes you realize how repetitive and uninspired the gameplay is 90% of the time, but I had so much fun playing them for the first time so many years ago. You could never make me hate them.
Do you have any mods to make Sera less of a dork? Do you have any mods to make Isabela less of a slut? Do you have any mods to make Cassandra less of a tomboy?
>>566799291 idk man, i used to like DAO and FO3, but as i experienced the older games, i started disliking them both for how streamlined roleplaying got
>>566800198 any mods to make Cassandra more attractive? actually I just checked the nexus, the answer is no the play really is to make your female player character your waifu and just keep her celibate
alright guys help me play Dragon Age Origins What are the must have mods? I'm going to play a Mage and do evil blood magic probably and also get me some sick armor and FUUUUCK Morrigan hard. Other than that I'm open-minded.
>>566801634 The mod that restores cut content, that's it Also the mod that buffs shapeshifter if you're gonna be playing that or want morrigan to use it It's not worth "experiencing the base game" with that because it's simply bad
>>566801634 DAO has too many must have mods. Just go to nexus, sort by top downloads and go wild. Dain's fixes and 6gb patch is basically mendatory. Plus another fixpack that i dont remember.
>>566801848 >>566801203 >is a matronly woman, a mother of like 3, with giant mommy milkers on full display >has a pronounced jaw as older women tend to, she's basically menopausal >has very feminine emotive eyes and lips >is reasonable and measured in attitude and tone, with a kind and gentle manner of speaking, is cold and detached when killing >would almost definitely have longish hair tied in a bun or something if her species had hair >doesn't have a permanent cunty scowl on her squinty eyed face and thin, drawn lips >doesn't speak with a rough slavic accent
>>566802291 plus it flips the script, most cutest retard waifus have to be protected by the player, cassandra is the cutest retard waifu who protects you
>>566802613 I like it when the stereotypical tomboy has a dorky and girlie hobby that she geeks out over. It's very cute and makes for good teasing ammo during sex to get her flustered.
>>566803578 In terms of evolution an asari dating a human is basically already an 80 year old dating a fetus so other ethical considerations are out by default.
i don't see what's so controversial about calling dai cassandra an uggo bioware was complaining about shit like "the male gaze" around the time of its release
>>566804535 Inquisition was the most woke triple-A dogshit imaginable back when it came out. If a character in DAI is ugly like Sera or mannish like Cass, or there's some obnoxiously fucking gay shit going on with cringe writing (proto-"Larian bear sex" moments), it's the writers railing against white male gamers and male gaze shit to cater to their only vaguely existent tumblr user fanbase at the time. Cass breaking gender norms by being very mannish is absolutely the intended effect.
>>566805627 what's seethe? that's historically accurate Inquisition was literally just Veilguard within the purview of its era's overton window. They are the exact same.
>>566782240 Warhammer skulls is this month so maybe we'll get a release date. Based on RT beta when should we expect it?
>>566780213 I think they said it was happening around the same time? Either way, Chorda isnt dead, she just vanished and Incendia has the warrant. For some reason some anons keep calling her a clone but there's no confirmation of that
>>566805838 >Veilguard is 10 times worse bro Learn to read or learn what the overton window is, nigga Discourse and the state of things in general is 10x worse than it was in 2014 Veilguard reflects that. They also weren't as brave or as enabled to be what they would be back then. It's literally just boiling the frog. Even Mass Effect was infested with its own brand of insidious progressive neo-liberal bullshit.
Finally doing a Dogmatic run and trying the Officer Arbites since I don't wan to overlap with Solomorne. Still early but it's pretty fun being able to be a tanky frontline officer that can still dish out damage thanks to shotguns being strong on top of being an Officer.
>>566790993 She's fine in 2 but me being buddies, or I guess kind of acquaintences would be more accurate, with her husband always deterred me from pursuing her. It helped that I liked Viconia a lot too. I would absolutely smash in 3 though, no hangups there and she looks just as good >Plus she's the best handled of the returning companions in BG3. Not a high bar. I fucking hate all the other cameos
>>566801203 >Conventionally attractive strong-jawed woman warrior knight with a big facial scar who won't shut up about her ex to her current lover Strange that it happened twice
>>566806698 I give Cassandra a pass because her ex just died in at the start of the game and the dude was literally the only bf she ever had in her entire life and she's pushing 40. Valerie has no excuse though. What more she brings him up again later in an attempt to try to shit on your relationship with her.
>>566806458 >She's fine in 2 but me being buddies, or I guess kind of acquaintences would be more accurate, with her husband always deterred me from pursuing her. Why? In ye olde days it was preferable for a widow to marry her brother in law because their families were already joined and he's probably similar to her late husband. The logistics and social aspects are actually very preferable to keep things within your family and friend circle. It's why when orphans are made it's best to have their aunts and uncles step in to raise them rather than some random foster parents.
So should I just fucking pirate Dragon Age: Origins? I own DAO: Ultimate Edition on Steam but it doesn't seem to have achievements or whatever and seemingly runs poorly, also is it going to force me to open Origin every time I try to play it? Because if so I WILL just pirate it.
Jaheira is like a unicorn in that her previous partner was a guy in your party BUT somehow her romance is very mature in how it treats her mourning and you don't just swoop in to replace her dead husband. I wonder if players would be capable of accepting that if it were a current year romance.
>>566808018 It's not about being fucking tech illiterate, I was just asking if I should start a fucking torrent now or install it legally. Every result I get says the Steam version is partly broken, and not necessarily in a way that is simply fixed by running the 4gb patch or whatever the fuck it is. And you respond like you're getting fucking defensive of this 16 year old game which I fucking own and have owned on Steam.
You should be fucking killed you stupid fucking nigger retard. Why are you such a stupid and belligerent fucking nigger retard? Why shouldn't you be fucking killed violently? god you are fucking insufferable, you are so fucking stupid and so fucking gay.
>>566808018 "tech literate" btw big man on campus can run an exe he's so tech literate, he can do other stuff too like use zip files, and even winrar you'd probably have trouble pirating a game if you can't figure out how to fix this game they sell to you pre-broken actually, if you're even asking about HOW broken it is, you're probably dumber than him, and probably can't use an exe file how dare you ask?
>>566793045 They still are retard you just have to kill all of them and finish the quest to get the exp Not to mention that it's completely optional and can be done at any time You even need to return to Wintersun later
One aspect of the Darkspawn I always appreciated was how hyper efficient they were at butchering and shitting up a place. They had less than an hour to redecorate the Tower of Ishal like this but by God they did it and with gusto
>>566813695 Died in battle against an enemy, not getting friendly fired taking nobody else down with him because he didn't want to drink the magic roofie
I've always wondered in historical big battles like this if the guys on the first row of formation just accepted the fact that they were fucked and had a 5% chance of not dying to the first charge
>>566813454 It's te same with all designated evil factions in every setting ever. >Just took over this camp, ship, town, planet. >First order of business is to redecorate
>>566822854 >relatively rare It's not for owlkek games. The alpha and beta threads on /v/ are always full of datamining info. Well, except for shitspants, because nobody cared about it
>>566828739 >Specifically singles out the one character that actually fits in-universe Being the first Owlkek character to get that ending really did a number on this general
>open the cells in an illegal prison where everyone was innocent >they start arguing with you and don't want to go with you lmao
>>566815702 Yeah it's a real thing that historians and psychologists have studied. The answer is usually twofold. The easy answer is there was usually a crown or sack of gold or land grant or other material incentive to the person who got up the siege ladder or across the bridge or whatever first. You either get something awesome for succeeding or it doesn't matter since you're dead. Lots of people sign up for this sort of thing even in the modern era.
There's a lot of less common actors as well, like some people believe in the cause so much that they just do it, and another less common reason is the guys who were sent up first were conscripted and were told they would just be shot if they didn't do it so you might as well take the chance in battle. Though this isn't how most armies work, it is occasionally the case.
>>566830898 >>open the cells in an illegal prison where everyone was innocent >>they start arguing with you and don't want to go with you >lmao Don't worry that's the John Brown experience. Happens to the best of us.
>>566830898 >Though this isn't how most armies work, it is occasionally the case. wasnt this only the case with the romans in antiquity >>566815702 typically armor kept them alive, and even then most people didnt die when the lines clashed its only when one side panics and routs do people start dying in droves, most battles were essentially just giant games of chicken, especially when horses got involved

>>566834296 >>566835425 I'd like to believe his boss looked around the arbites, his eyes fell upon Solomorne and somehow he realized this stale toasted bread is the most charismatic out of hundreds maybe thousands says a lot about the arbites
>>566834758 It's the owlcat way. If you review the companions of Kingmaker and Wrath, you realize they would work much better if they flipped games too
>>566837684 Owlcat do a shit job doing the Arbites justice. Solomorne's voice acting sucks and even his introduction is botched. Somehow Fatshark make the Arbites look cooler in their 5 second class reveal not to mention their VA's blow Owlcat out of the water. Worst of all and the most unforgiveable thing about him is that he doesn't wear the fucking helmet.
>>566834758 >one who is a pooorly written retard which one is the poorly written retard? they're both two different flavours of stupid, Yrliet is autistic and Marazhai thinks baiting autistic eldar makes him a genius
>>566838252 Not at all, Kingmaker's companions don't fit either game. If Kingmaker wasn't Kingmaker and was just Dungeoneer the Dragoning, the companions would be great and Wrath's companions would be completely out of place, but because it's supposed to be a nationalist volkist kingdom management sim, the fact that Kingmaker has a racially diverse cast greatly detracts from the game. Wrath's characters fit their game because of its alignment conflict themes, Kingmaker's do not because they're a typical group of adventurers.
>>566838252 >lich gets an urgathoa follower instead of portraits with no content >actual lg instead of diet lg >a naturalist in a new environment and a chronicler instead of lolsorandumb fox >valerie might actually come to see the shelynites being an understandable mirror because war is so terrible or revile them even more instead of just moaning about her face >deva participating in war against demons is a given >harrim being a doomsayer you need to wrangle to control morale versus emdurr forgiving demons and everybody >amiri being the iconic has an ancestral angle to the land versus seelah being a paladin and that's it >instead of slave soldiery being glossed over with nurah, you have two people tied to it to explore the idea i'd keep regill, arueshalae and ulbrig, but i agree otherwise
>>566839981 Yeah. There should be a wuxia game where being monk would give you ranks in winemaking, copying scripture and rudiemntary grappling-style wrestling all without any sort of explanation
Literally every companion in WotR is there because of something involving demons with the exception of Nenio, Camellia and Greybor who are there just because, you have to be genuinely retarded to think that they would "fit" Kingmaker >yes yes the gay nigga that wants to find out what happened to his brother after he fucked off to the Worldwound? Yeah he goes to the Stolen Lands for some reason
>>566840673 greybor will kill anyone, anywhere for money (true neutral) political shitshows and beast slaying works in the stolen lands too there is nothing interesting about lickslips and "we're the real demons man"
>>566841178 >there's nothing interesting I agree, but that doesn't change the fact she doesn't belong in Kingmaker. And while Greybor could work in Kingmaker, he has a stronger role in WotR because he represents neutrality as an alignment.
>>566840673 >Greybor is also there because of demon infighting He's just a random assassin, the reason why he's there is because of money, you could change it so he's targeting some random fey in the stolen lands and the result would be the same >Camellia is there to show the player that mortals can be worse than demons She is just some random serial killer that's crazy and uses her position of power get away with murder, literally just change the "but I want to close the worldwound" excuse and make up something else and that's that And then there's Nenio who is just some random wandering "scientist" and no Areshkagal has nothing to do with the Worldwound
>>566841621 >He's just a random assassin, the reason why he's there is because of money, you could change it so he's targeting some random fey in the stolen lands and the result would be the same And while Greybor could work in Kingmaker, he has a stronger role in WotR because he represents neutrality. There's no thematic reason to have Camellia in Kingmaker whatsoever, it just moves an already shit character into a game where she doesn't even have a purpose. Nobody is disputing that Nenio is nothing.
>>566840461 >>566841808 >grapple based hand to hand >scroll scribing, maybe you can cast touch spells while you've grappled an enemy >winemaking for buffs
>kill the queen in Vescavor Canyon >go underground and get the wand of Zacharius >remember that there's a bunch of locust demons and a Retriever waiting in the other tunnel branch I don't want to fight those fucks, they're so annoying Is there any reason I shouldn't skip this and come back after Drezen, when I'm overleveled? Was there some critical loot that I'm gonna need? I remember there was a unique dagger, but not if it was any good.
>>566843626 Fuck, seriously? What would happen if someone just missed the underground entrance? Are you permanently locked out from Lich and Dragon paths?
>>566843748 idk about dragon but if you don't get zacharius wand before lost chapel, you quite literally cannot go lich, because his secret hideout doesn't open if you don't have the wand
>>566843996 Characters, cutscenes, and environments have gradually had improved textures over time, and within the next year or two they're also upgrading to directX12 to allow for more integrations with newer technology.
It's nice, but it also creates a funny situation where the old player character models from 2013 stand next to the new characters/environments that have new textures and it looks funny.
>>566844637 Do you know if anything happens if you go to Drezen first, and go back to retrieve the wand and try to talk to Zacharius afterwards? Does the door just stay sealed forever, if you don't open it the first time you're there? What if you do open the door but don't talk to Zacharius until after Drezen? You're obviously locked away from the Lich path, if you already picked a different one, but they could have added some special dialogue where Zacharius calls you a bitch and attacks.
>>566845403 I know for a fact that because I didn't have the wand in my inventory (it was in my stash) when I did Lost Chapel on my first playthrough, I went back there after Drezen and nothing happened. At that point, you have already selected your mythic. Zacharius only shows up again if you go Legend, which I did in the end.
Owlcat's romance blogpost might have seemed out of the blue until you realize it was apparently in response to them becoming known as the cuckold developers in different online circles Even the ones that don't call them that or think 'kink-shaming' is bad use euphemisms like "non-conventional romance dynamics"
Kind of crazy how easy Aurora is these days compared to when the game first came out. That sniper camping in the corner of the map is way more annoying to deal with.
>>566849914 no man, I used the heavy flamer to target 8 kabal warriors or so. they ALL dodged with 6% hit chance, which I thought was just the game fucking with me. The only way to avoid it would've been to use killzone strat with them on a backline Then next chance I got I swapped argenta to her auto crit bolt pistol and killed all of them in sequence instead.
>>566807616 >UT somehow her romance is very mature in how it treats her mourning You leave Khalid's corpse to rot there and everyone just refuses to comment on it when you find it. And only after you go out does she give you shit for it.
I know very few people have played this here but I thought I should ask as I actually got stuck for once Is there any way to save the hanged members of the rebellion? The hanging gets noted down in your journal and the games text implies that you can perhaps do something but I don't see a way to intervene Do you have to accept Aldis' help fully? Because I didn't, I only reluctantly accepted the rejuvenate spell
>finally get dual wielding talent so I can double shot plasma pistols >try to use rear zone with locus, back zone on faggot deldar target and shoot two plasma shots at him >forget killzone on back zone so he dodges plasma aoe for 50% damage and the second single shot misses >he does 1 burst attack on me >I left invigorating resolve on abelard for +10 fel trinket on self >two traumas administered fucking stupid game, FUCKING HIT THE PLASMA
>>566858670 Is Grand Strategist useful? I just know it as the archetype people make Cassia so she can go first in every combat and nuke/buff everything.
>>566858979 Stardew? You'll be the one doing the cucking though.
>>566859087 Yes. Cassia exists to spam Navigator powers, she's generally not built to make full use of the combat zones. I'm running an Arbites Officer/Grand Strategist right now and it's pretty powerful combo.
>>566859087 Yes because stronghold strat prevents injuries, and no injuries mean no traumas. But if you use the AP to shoot plasma instead, or forget to stronghold stat when standing on the rear, or use blitz instead to get in a "cool" looking position in the middle of the battlefield so you can start blasting plasma pistols, sometimes you get traumas instead of preventing traumas
>>566859087 Sure it's useful. unfortunately combat locus completely mogs all other gs abilities. That's the only stratagem you're ever gonna use, especially after you get that item from somorgah
>>566859621 lol no, combat locus is nice but having multiple zones up is important to maximise damage, you just have a skill issue especially if you didn't get improv strat for extra strats
>>566859853 You don't need to maximize damage, you already kill everything with ease without it. It's a win more kind of shit that is also incredibly fiddly
anyway, what do I do here? they won't let me help, do I have to go to footfall first? according to my Kiava Gamma colony projects, Eufrates II has already fallen so this is a bit out of sync
>>566860031 you sound like you hate Skill Expression and Decision Making Per Minute gameplay, my Argenta would mog your Argenta in combat because she would stand in a Combat Locus Rear Zone with Stronghold while your Argenta stands in a Frontline Zone with Killzone Strat, slicing your own Frontline Zone bonus by half so my Argenta dodges all of your Argenta's half damage shots and then shoots you for a million damage, and then I have sex with your Cassia and she calls me Lord Captain BITCH
>>566861067 >cute chaste blonde with murderous tendencies but a soft spot for kids Would still be popular >redhead The rest doesn't matter. You'll always have firecrotch lovers to excuse whatever crap personality they'd give human Yrliet
Sorry if it offends you, it's just a fact. Notice how Yrliet and Argentafags both beg for another eldar/sob female character to romance while Cassia and Kibellahfags don't
>>566861512 Because Cassiabros and Kibblebros are generally chill and are content with what they got. Yrlietfags are constantly having a melty and Argentafags are constantly coping.
>>566859087 the issue with GS is that you aren't really gonna pick actual GS points until end game when you reach exemplar because you want as many points in navigator for the stat buff when playing Cassie
bah, wtf is this thing, I didn't see it before starting the fight and why is the computer playing tactically by having the cultists shoot at it before fighting, that's cheating, the computer is supposed to be dumb as bricks in order to contrast against my strategic genius
>>566861917 Is that the part near the end of the game where you find out that the daughter of that one family is actually your half sister and you need her blood? If so by that point everyone was treating me like shit and throwing me under the bus so I just said fuck it and became a full on sociopath.
Ooops, wrong image I straight up dont know if it is possible to spin this in a way that doesnt make me seem like a total villain I legitimately sent in a torturous evil into the home of a farmer to threaten him by stealing a child and dragging them to the afterlife
had to intercede and take a kick to the face so pasqal wouldn't die >where are your other tanks? abelard is holding mid and keeping the helbrute's attention, ulfar was killing all the cultists >why is heinrix down because this fucking thing can shoot almost anywhere apparently and heinrix stood in the wrong place, everything else would have gone just as planned if he hadn't died, fucking retard now it's a question of if we can kill this thing on time before the abelard's durability doesn't hold out
>>566866426 A fully realized Heretic playthrough with all four gods differentiated into different paths with their own unique reactivity, including making companions and NPC's fall along you
Going to do a Heretic playthrough. Should I go Psyker? From what I remember a lot of the Heretical exclusive items are based on warp shit and psyker powers.
I just hate how we're locked into Tzeentch if you go Herekek. Literally the wrost Chaos god because at some point he WILL fuck you over super hard. Meanwhile Calligos gets to be a Khornefag.
>>566868059 I love how you can turn lower decks into nurgle but also hate how you can't do that to the rest of your ship, the whole church/shrine area looks exactly the same even after you go heretic. Just tear down the lame Emperor statues and replace them with the chaos star and have weird NPC around the area talking how skinning people is enjoyable
>>566867508 It's pretty good if a bit obtuse to actually play due to the funky movement and the very strict order you have to do things in. Qol is not in the game by design You will find a skeleton, carry it to one of the usable summon locations on the map, wait for the cutscene to finish and then lead it to your skeleton stash But the story and is pretty good and well paced. There are some tough choices and you aren't a necromancer just because even if it is obvious to the player that you are being corrupted all the same. The evolution of your goals is very natural Investigating your spells and finding the different ways to accomplish your goals while also solving other town drama really works. And that drama, what you learn, can be used to call in favours later or learn of developments before they happen in addition to expanding upon the world, it is very good. The game is pretty good at hinting what to do without having to resort to a guide. I've only had too look up something 3 times and it was not because I wasn't sure how to proceed, but rather that I couldn't put the pieces together due to the devs moon logic. If you think the concept of the game sounds interesting and you don't mind a slightly "clunky" game I'd recommend you try it. It's fairly short for crpg standards and fairly cheap too even at full price
>>566869502 The heretic nomos ending makes it clear that something like that won't happen because you have a pet c'tan. Chaoskeks can't really do shit about Nomos.
alright, this is going a bit better, the trick was to funnel the chaos space marines into the middle where abelard tanked all of them, and have pasqal shoot cultists as well as ulfar to kill them faster abelard was able to kill the csm's pretty much by himself, heinrix as usual is doing fuck all except buffing
>>566871292 >heinrix as usual is doing fuck all except buffing You've built and accessorized him wrong if he's not cleaning up rooms solo. Being a buffslut is a valid build for him though, but then again don't complaint about it if that's what you went with
>>566871979 except earlier in the game where she mentions she always gets horny and has to have sex after killing which she says without asking including to a female character she is not interested in and we all know she is a sick pervert who rapes the corpses she kills too but she would never cheat on you, right? kappa!
>>566871487 he does fine when he has two swords, then he activates his sword of light and voila, now he has 1 sword and suddenly he sucks >just don't activate his sword of light it's got to be useful for something
If you dont stop Jervase the world will enter a new dark age -> shows pictures of ww1 and ww2. If you do the world will be beautiful -> shows a city filled with skyscrapers that comes after the preceding events. Does Aldis know? Is he being baited by his context-less visions of the future? Is he baiting you by misrepresenting the situation? Is this alternative history? Who knows But he seems like a swell guy that didn't do nothing wrong except a little mass murder here and there. I should trust him
Camelia may give her body to other men but her heart and mind belong to me. And she comes home to my bed every night, even if she reeks of another man's semen
Yrliet may give her body to other eldar but her heart and mind belong to me. And she comes home to my bed every night, even if she reeks of another eldar's semen.
The cucklord "allows" himself to be cucked by pretending he has a choice to at least retain some dignity The cuckchad pressures his wife into sleeping with other men for his own sick amusement
I messed around more with some o the other scenarios or options in the demo and this game is honestly already so good. Music is great, combat is significantly improved, the investigations are a great mechanic, and there have already been multiple cases of being lied to or making mistakes actually having reactivity. It's going to be their best game yet.
>>566875329 d20 + AGI modifier + PER modifier/2 (or full PER mod I don't remember) Hover over initiative and it'll tell you Point is the d20 makes it very very RNG
>>566875604 >Supposedly it's something like AGI + PER/2 + d100, but it seems completely random to me Initiative isn't a d100 roll actually, and it uses modifiers That's why it seems so random, because if you hard focus agility you start with a mod of 5 and end the game with a mod of 7 Mods aren't very significant
>went back to check on Kiava Gamma >nobody around except the hacked servitors from when I saved the place >the place still has the same layout of spikes and corruption everywhere as before a bit disappointing
>>566875751 But there is a random component right? Yeah, maybe not d100, because now that I think about it would be something like 5 (from the Agi bonus) + d100 so the modifier would barely matter at all.
>>566875329 It doesn't. Your beefed up emperor's finest are always sluggish and slower than some literally who ruffian that only eats slop and has a juryrigged rifle for a weapon
>>566876752 Now I wonder if you're the same autist from /v/. The fucking ship from The Expanse got a statue, no one cares. >>566875727 >In danger of becoming Henirix 2.0 I wish, but Heinrix will never be surpassed What a garbage list. Epione has barely any dialogue. He couldn't virtue signal harder if he tried
Epione is black and ugly as fuck, she'll never be popular and I guarantee you she'll end up as the least picked member of your team. No amount of cope from redditors will change that.
People shit on Owlcat for their encounter design yet how come nobody ever brings up the fucking awful encounter design of Divinity Original Sin 2? At least in KM and Wrath you can take on higher level enemies with a well rounded party and a bit of cheese like the Lich in KM. In DOS2 you try to fight an enemy one level higher than you and you get absolutely buttfucked. And then there's fights where the enemy gets the first turn and then nukes your team in one round. Or the invisible assassin ambushes.
>>566878352 i would've gone dwarf since petrifying touch seems very cool but i wanted play dead since i was trying honor mode >>566878754 >t. that lizard prostitute
when's the best time to kill Jae in RT she's beefing with my gross fishwife and i want to execute her ass but i wanna know if potential woman 007 over here actually has anything worth a damn tied to her character
It's honestly alarming how many of you hate Jae. She's the only "normal" female romance. Your other options are a mutant moeblob who will eventually morph into some eldritch abomination, a giga autist elf who will never touch you and a mentally retarded murder cultist.
>>566881050 It's not a psyop. Like Octavia in Kingmaker most people just write her off immediately instead of giving her a chance. Similar to Octavia she's actually the best romance in the game.
>>566879989 I wish I could screenshot this without this dumb text popping up it's too fucking funny I'm actually laughing out loud irl This is literally that science and progress future meme. It's nice that it worked out in the end though How the dark book of evil that corrupts your very soul and was likely given to man by the devil can lead to good things I don't know but hey if it works it works. God is real in this setting by the way you cannot set foot in a church after a while I guess this confirms that you, van Elstrik, were indeed the problem and the corruption is in large part due to your character. Well, I guess this just echoes the point that magic was never the problem, it was how you used it and insisting on this point is how you earn the ending I did some pretty fucked up shit though. The only mercy I actually showed was not going through with the spirit slave ritual, that was so evil I actually reloaded and went with a different solution. >>566880769 It's just a made-up fantasy name I use sometimes. I didn't take it from somewhere I just pressed my keyboard one day and liked how it looked

Is Hellfire ray worth getting/using if i'm not a full mage with max caster level? I have 5 lvls of wizard so i think getting greater dispel magic is better than hellfire ray for now. I can just learn hellfire from a scroll right?
>>566881767 You can learn from a scoll as a wizard yeah Greater dispel is very good insneed, there's an item that makes it really powerful once a day Greater heroism and true seeing are also good if your caster level is bad
I think i made a mistake So i was playing colony ship, got to the end of chapter 1 and figured out i was playing suboptimally, so i rerolled But now playing chapter 1 and 2 it turned into outline click simulator for me, i dint even read dialogue anymore Whores
>>566881767 greater heroism is great until you get heroic invocation and buffing your team with it is more useful than rays and dispels if you are not specced into them
>>566882679 Those recipes aren't from the offical cookbook, they're from the seond world of thedas book always kinda wanted to buy this one though would be cute to make something from it
>>566882159 I can't stomach too many "modern-isms" in fantasy worlds I can forgive them for trying to come up with a fictional placeholder for a real life vegetable/fruit but I can't tolerate someone like Lyonel from the AKOTSK show using words like "Curry" favor even if some kind of fictional equivalent to curry existed in ASOIAF universe no one would use the term "Curry Favor" that's a VERY modern word
>>566883437 >that’s a VERY modern word Sure you aren’t getting confused by a homonym? https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/curry_favor Curry in this instance is a word from Middle English for grooming your horse with a comb.
Is this kinda like... broken compared to regular classes? I decided to see how much this "20 level draconic disciple" class that some mod added would give in stats and it gives you a lot... you lose bonus sorcerer feats and you're still half BAB with no weapon proficiencies but IDK, seems like too much kinda, +8 STR for free?
>>566884892 If you're statfagging kinda, but iirc DD doesn't really have anything too uniquely broken otherwise. Pretty sure people take some mutagen class with that as well for more stats.
>>566885025 Yeah I guess a multiclass would get to the same numbers, this still has 20 CL but you're not casting anything offensively so I don't think it matters, maybe I'm overthinking it
>>566885145 Never forget that what was SUPPOSED to happen during that sequence is a desire demon was supposed to take Leliana's form and try to seduce the Inqusitor. But Gaider in his eternal faggotry just retconned Desire Demons from the setting in a game about demons invading the world.
>>566885202 The Arbites origin has an Officer subclass. Meaning you can be a tanky frontline officer with a shield and shotgun. Works will with Grand Strategist.
I can't stop playing Human Male Nobles in DAO. Yeah mage is the more fun class but it's so boring. The only cool thing Mage has is being Hawke's cousin.
>>566884892 Stats are nice, but that’s nothing crazy compared to say Vivisectionist or Mutation Warrior. Alternatively 4 levels of normal DD and 3 levels of Mutation Warrior get you the same and can be slapped into lots of other builds.
>>566885749 I never liked playing as a dalish elf, but after inquisition showed they were categorically wrong about literally everything they're all I play as now
>>566885749 >mage is the more fun class but it's so boring Could you translate this? Or reconsider word choice. Because on the surface this is directly contradictory so you must have meant something else
>>566886783 I believe Regill becomes semi-essential up to Lost Chapel because he needs to be around for Sosiel to talk to for Sosiel’s personal quest. He doesn’t keep it after the map.
>>566887394 Missed a word, the mage class itself is fun as fuck but the overall background and origin of the character is boring compared to the other origins.
Convice me to play mage in DAO. From what I see the "meta" is to be an arcane warrior, pickup a sword and just tank everything with magic passives. But at that point why are you even a mage?
>>566887970 Because the tradeoff for having so many spells is that the specializations are kind of ass, at least in Origins. They get fun in Awakening. The only way around this is if you use a mod that makes Shapeshifter work like it was intended to.
>>566887970 You can play a mage without going Arcane Warrior. DA:O is not that hard, even on Nightmare, to need to use a "meta" build. As for why to go mage, its the class that has the most abilities. Other classes only get one set of abilities per their weapon style (2-handed, sword and shield, 2 weapons or bow), whereas the mage gets 4 (not accounting for prestige classes)
>>566887970 even a normal mage is op, arcane warrior is just more op than that. You can still clean house with everything as a caster, you'll just have to focus more on positioning wheras AW is more braindead. The most fun thing about magic for me is the aoe spells and spell combos. Casting storm of the century on a group of enemies is fun
>>566887970 >meta Caster mage is also the strongest class in the game if you’d rather just have Alistair to handle tanking for you. Which he can do admirably. Spell combos and having such a large selection of abilities makes them the most entertaining class in the game to play and they only get better with multiples.
>>566887970 Mage is the most fun class to play in DAO because it gets the most amount of abilities to choose from. You could be an arcane warrior, or you could just remain a ranged spellcaster and nuke shit, CC everything and cast forever with blood magic, be the group healer, be shapeshifter (with a bugfix patch installed), etc. Other classes mostly just get stuck auto-attacking the entire game. Mage at least gets fun buttons to press.
>>566889038 well they introduced terror and despair demons I didn't mind the introduction of a male desire "demon", but they could have atleast made it be a unique design instead of just an NPC
>>566887970 >But at that point why are you even a mage? Lmao. Arcane Warrior build puts EVERY point into magic. (minus the points you put cunning for dialogue options)
My last Mage warden had 100+ magic at the end. Its disgustingly OP and fun.
>>566884892 Dragon disciple was traditionally just used to get those stats on a martial with a bard or sorc dip. It's kinda bad otherwise. If you're not losing caster levels I can see it being better though.
>>566841178 >greybor will kill anyone, anywhere for money (true neutral) and he also betrays you instead of following your contract and would side with demons to get revenge he is sooo neutral (and tall, and handsome)
>>566887970 Regular caster is still very good. By the time you get to awakening you can just plant your ass in the middle of a fight and watch everything die around you.
>>566889941 >And why the fuck isnt she a bard? Idk Why is she built as an archer instead of a melee fighter using desna's weapon is my question (I know why, because there's too few archers)
>>566878881 Because the encounter design of dos2 is genuinely excellent and the best part of the game Almost every encounter is unique and handmade with different enemies who do different things with different resists and mechanics And is insanely rewarding on replays because it lets you use your game knowledge to dominate everything Muh levels is the biggest casual cope ever. Do levels matter? Of course but the game gives you a dozen tools or so to circumvent this. You can literally make yourself immortal from level 9 with living on the edge You can build your characters better to overcome heightened resists and higher hp You can kill Alice Aliceon at level 9 despite her being level 15 and easily kill Jahan at level 12-13 despite him being level 20 The game lets you use deathfog and lava to oneshot anything if you are too bad for the combat To permanently chain invisibility to become untargetable And tons of other such tricks You can run straight to the final boss upon entering act 4 despite being underlevelled and beat everything The assassin ambush is LITERALLY WARNED YOU FUCKING MORON. They mention it and you can just exit dialogue and move your other character out of the way. You could also just reload a save or simply thug it out. Or use the rain spell to remove their invisibility, or one of the dozens scrolls you have available. The games intiative system also GUARANTESS that you'll always go second at first due to its alternating initiative You are so fucking clueless never open you retarded mouth again What the fuck are you even speaking about? Both kingmaker and wotr are worse with ambushes and reloadfests and significantly more variable due to the larger amount of rng
