Tell me your favourite first person RPGs and recommend some more to others. Preferably discuss more forgotten and "indie" games. I don't want another bethesda or cp77 thread
Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon was The last one released that I know of that is moderately sized and not a complete joke.
(I really hope some retarded publisher doesn't end up buying them out and forcing them to make a higher budget, gayer, elder scrolls-type game though. The steady sales and way so many publishers/devs seem to fear to fund them or completely fail at games like this has to have had corporate Jews taking notice.)
>>3980757 This one has been on my radar before it came out recently but i haven't gotten around to playing it. Is it any good from a normal person standpoint? I see purists seethe over it on this board and also skyrim fans complaining it isnt skyrim enough
>>3980723 The genuine FPP RPGs (not blobbers) are flawed, the very concept of it is wrong. Mixing the FPS mechanics with abstract rules of the RPG system never works well.
>>3980763 Yeah, I just wouldn't go into it expecting Skyrim or Dark Souls, or whatever clickbait influencers are trying to label it as, and just enjoy it for what it is. It has things in common with both and it is impressive what they accomplished, but it's clearly not AAA. They seem to put out patches and stuff every few weeks, with no sign of slowing down, so who knows how big the game will get or how polished they can get everything by the time they stop though.
vtmb is the best rpg period. >>3980757 it's such a shame that the writers couldn't really diversify the way they write quests so it feels really painful at the end. they love mysterious faux profound characters.but it's an undersaturated genre so I still enjoyed it. the aesthetic in act 3 is also way weaker.
Arx was solid minus the atrocious final boss. It felt more like an RPG/Point & Click than a full-blown RPG. If you enjoy dungeon crawling & solving puzzles, I recommend it.
>>3980823 They are flawed because everybody copies fallout 3 and you get shit shooting regardless of skills but it is more interesting than purely using vats. Nobody copies deus ex in fusing skills with aiming/weapon handling.
>>3980823 >The genuine FPP RPGs (not blobbers) are flawed, the very concept of it is wrong. How they've been done and how people end up playing them might be flawed, but not wrong.
>>3983196 >everybody copies fallout 3 and you get shit shooting regardless of skills >Nobody copies deus ex in fusing skills with aiming/weapon handling. Anon, I… that’s exactly what fo3 did. It’s just that FO3 used the same janky engine they’ve used since Morrowind while Deus Ex used Unreal, a proper shooter engine.
>>3983634 >I had no idea cybermage even existed I don't think I've heard that name since reading the review in Computer Gaming World in whatever year it came out
>>3983633 >Moraff's World is the first thing that crosses your mind when talking about first person RPGs yes it is.... after Death Watch. but that indie shareware sucked more IMO. so Moraff's World it is!
>>3983878 >>3983854 yes, Resident Evil is a survivor action-RPG. it's not first-person though, unless opening doors count. or the NDS remake where you got parts where you slash zombies with a knife in first-person view.
>>3984035 I guess it can be counted as an RPG the same way some people count system shock 2 as survival horror. I actually only played RE4 so in wondering if could you highlight for me the RPG elements of this game? My friend has been trying to get me to try RE1 so this might be what i need to hear lol
