Iwanaga, a former executive of Anycolor (and I think helped out with the vshojo jp branch before?) weighs in on the issue of not transferring character rights to graduated vtubers, especially from the bigger companies. The biggest issue seems to be the danger of getting taxed according to their performance from the previous year, which could potentially be an insurmountable burden for a newly established indie forced to pay all off it on their own.

Anycolor talents aside, with the amount of sponsors, product collabs, and general work that the holo talents get I do think there's some truth to the taxes thing atleast, especially since Japan apparently has some pretty dumb ones from what I've seen, so being unconvinced that the talent isn't savvy enough to handle things correctly isn't too far fetched an idea. Patra is probably the most successful case of a corpo keeping their character, I'd be interested in seeing how things went for her financially in that first year.

There's plenty of sponsorship and management agencies that will work for you, instead of you for them, and, for moderate to big streamers, it won't eat anywhere near half your income. There's the legal protection a corporation provides, but for about $100, you can set up an LLC, as most medium to large streamers do. After a certain size, there's really no reason to stay with the agency you're with, if you can keep your IP, save maybe for the sense of comradery.

When you transition to indie, there's a lot of costs you have to take on as well. A corpo can handle a lot of those in bulk (management, sponsorship coordination, legal services, accounting services, ect.), and unless an indie is a savant capable of doing all of those things themselves, that's new bills they have to take on when they take over an IP, in addition to any taxes on just owning stuff.
While I still think it should be on the table for more people (especially corpos that are shuttering), I see Iwanga's point on why it's not as common as you'd think at first blush.

I must say, a lot of examples that people are pointing at as the game using "AI" are just frame rate changes to existing anime and such, something most televisions can do these days. If it doesn't require an enviromentally destructive datacenter and no one loses a job over it, should it really be treated as AI, just cuz it looks a bit odd? I also don't think the company ever said they use no AI, just they didn't use it for major assets. It also is worth mentioning that a lot of other major games, that people play without a second thought, are using AI for secondary assets, including the television in RE9, by Capcom's own admission, as well as a lot of texture assets. Never mind all the "vibe coding" that seems to plague the games industry these days. (Also likely why half the Windows updates seem to destroy your computer now.)

This is true. Even if you ask an AI to recreate a certain scene at a certain time stamp, you'll just get something completely fictitious based on the literal meaning of the title. In short, as I believe they've said before, they claim AI-assisted tools were only used on "a small number of background and environmental assets, not on the characters or stories that define the game." They also claim they are reworking the affected assets. Though, a whole theatre screen, while not crucial to the plot, is a rather large asset. On the other hand, most of what people are pointing at as AI usage, simply isn't, or are things like AI upscaling or frame pullups, that don't cost anyone a job (and in the latter case, isn't really even AI).

That's the issue. "Sudden death" competition doesn't really pass the "vibe check", as Yagoo put it. It really is a Nijisanji or Nexas approach. Even if we get streamers out of it, they are going to be the worst kind of cut-throte people, bent on defeating all around them while also no doubt being insanely jealous of their cooworker's success. I don't think the existing laid back Hololive girls would be compatable with beasts raised in such death match fighting pit.

With so many major talents rebelling, I can see where Yagooo may be getting tired of finding diamonds in the rough. He may want something tried and tested on his own terms, trained to hold onto him in desperation, regardless of the cost to themselves. But such harshly forged, farm grown homogenization will only attract and create hardened warrior women, nothing like the Hololive girls they have garnered from the wild until now.

Yes, skill issue, but a lack of obsession with skill and their perpetual self doubt is a large part of what makes the Hololive talents so endearing.

While the case management conference (early hearing) was scheduled for May 28, Plaintiff asked to push that date, which is now November 27. This is due to the Hague Service Convention taking a while and giving defendants time to respond.
As a reminder, Cover filed a legal complaint against Masaki Yamashita and 10 Doe defendants alleging 68 counts of copyright infringement, motivated by their chuuba's images being used in very clickbait-y and rrat YouTube videos.
