>>2264415 It's the default fastfetch preset module, he didn't customize it as far as I can tell. After you install fastfetch, in your terminal run
fastfetch -c all.jsonc
It will display every available value that you can show, pick which ones you want to use and note their names. Edit
~/.config/fastfetch/config.jsonc
Choose any values from this list and include them in the above file
{ "type": "custom", "format": "\u001b[96m This is my distro" },
This includes a display of all your 14 terminal colours and a line of text you can edit and place anywhere. If you want a specific theme like dracula, import the theme colours to your terminal config file and it will display them properly.
>>2264412 My fastfetch? It's default actually. Once neofetch got archived and I switched I never got around to customizing it.
When a new window opens my .bashrc displays the gif of the skeleton, then an "ls" command that uses exa for the folder icons. That's where the other stuff came from, then I just ran fastfetch at the end
Also, just realized I had no anime wallpaper in a /w/ thread -_______-
New system I installed a couple of days ago. I've been on Mint 20.2 for years and I decided that I needed a change, so I went back to KDE. Just a standard KDE desktop, no frills. >>2264390 I like the bar >Im not loving the bar, desu To be honest, I also am not a fan of those arrow-like mini sections, but your desktop looks coherent.
>>2265324 i gotcha covered, im not exactly the same person as the person you replied to but i did my reverse image search magic and looked for the highest res i could find 4u
I was recently looking into Linux, specifically Arch but was a bit uncomfortable after watching a few videos and noticing a high percentage of the men in them were transgender. One had a fucking doll of Astolfo beside his monitor. Why is this?
>>2265833 I tested a lot of UI's, and I like using lxqt, XFce or i3 or fluxbox with low specs machines for everyday use.
This combo is a professional keynote and formation's configuration with the goal of showing deciders that a Linux based configuration (debian or devuan) can be very comfy for an office desktop.
Within KDE everything is linked, you have notifications of appointments and mails in taskbar, everything my chiefs can expect (with office skills and internet basic needs).
Also, it's very customizable and it can be relooked at the beginning of the transition in a Windows-like look and progressively changed.
>>2264417 >>2264426 Holy shit these two are beautiful, saving them for inspiration. What a nice balance of detail and simplicity. >>2264589 Great icons. Very cohesive style. >>2264856 Please more details. I suppose it's a linux faux windows 7. What's the DE, WM, etc.? >>2265428 Beautiful player, thanks for tip. Also cool window styling
Picrel is my current (kinda bland) setup. Still haven't taken the time to properly customise it
Found my mom's ancient laptop in the basement among a pile of old laptops that don't work anymore. So I tried to revive it. Loving Xfce4 so far. >>2265845 There's something really comfy about this. Maybe it's the relatively small screen size/resolution combined with the colors. >>2265819 >>2265433 >>2265428 >>2264881 >>2264589 (based Shimeji Simulation bro) >>2264453 >>2264425 I love these. Btw, idk what it is but there's something really comfy about 1366x768
>>2266319 changing your taskbar and icons is not rice you dumbfuck zoomer. now show us your customized window management, widgets, terminal etc. oh wait you cant because winblows does not let you do any of that. kys faggot
I think you could rice windows by killing explorer.exe and switching it out also you could replace the window manager, Im less sure about the wm though
cosmic beta is unbelievably good and minimal. the tiling experience rivals dedicated dynamic tiling wm out there. give it a shot if you're a tiling user. for floating experience, it's nothing special, the fact that you can have floating tiling and stacking all in the same DE is pretty cool though.
>>2265434 The majority of people that get in to something niche are insecure posers that only get into it because it's niche and not for any real reason. That fits with the transgender mindset if you ask me. 'I'm special and labels used for normal people don't apply for me.'
>>2265434 If someone being trans and weird is enough to deter you from using something then I doubt you had any reason to use it in the first place desu. People who use a tool shouldn't influence whether or not you use the tool yourself.
>>2267544 I had used Debian for a long time before switching to Devuan, in my experience unless you use software that really relies on System D you won't there won't be any drawbacks. The install process is the same as Debian (netinstall is what I use) except for the part where you choose which init you want to use.
Is it possible for anyone to sell me on GNOME or is it just worse than KDE or anything else? I don't see what you can do in GNOME that you can't do in anything else...?
Yeah >>2268120 Idk, I've been using GNOME a lot when I wanted a fully functional DE out of the box. Trying out KDE right now, I don't see that much of a substantial difference. GNOME might be a bit more resource intensive though. Most default settings like keyboard shortcuts are different, but that's something you can change later, it comes down to tweaking and personal settings. So idk, the pop_shell plugin for GNOME might be a point of interest for you if you want a "hybrid" GUI with the ability to switch between tiling and floating windows.
>>2268208 The browser is Icecat but any Firefox based browser will work. >extensions 4chan X and OneeChan for 4chan and I used Firefox Color to change the colors for the rest of the browser. For the older style tabs you have to change "toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets" to "true" in about:config and edit your userChrome.css file, here's a pastebin for mine, for you to look at https://pastebin.com/FYDjsm0N. In case you don't have userChrome.css file, you can make one, just put it in "/home/USER/.mozilla/firefox/WHATEVER.default/chrome". If you don't have the chrome directory, make that as well.
>>2264390 this is it lmao, i have keybinds that flash battery life and time and date, whole laptop runs off vim commands and alias's. keybinds that link to aliases run most of my computer functions
>>2268308 I prefer using X because it's what I've used since the 2000s and I don't like changing my software unless there's genuinely something wrong with it. X simply works, there are no secrets or twists, it just works. Wayland, on the other hand, is full of caveats that many applications simply don't bother adapting to. So expect some games with fickering, OBS not working, a thousand workarounds just to share your screen on Teams, etc. Wayland is great if you like tinkering, most of the unixporn faggots on leddit today seems to use Wayland with Sway or KDE, but if you're not a tinkertranny and just want a server that works without headaches, use X.
>>2268264 Hey there fellow Yakui the maid enjoyer >>2268314 (nta) I'm using KDE on this laptop rn because I haven't bothered to set my desktop up properly yet since I've been on this installation, but I'm getting really frustrated by Wayland and its glitches. Thinking of installing and setting up herbstluftwm once I have the time and the energy.
Idk pretty basic but I enjoy it. Please excuse the WinXP larp, it's supposed to be Grouchosoft Mindorz. Also nigga what the fuck is this new captcha system? I had to wait a minute, solve 4 captchas, then verify my email but to do that I had to solve an hcaptcha so i could solve 4 more captchas, to get a link to another h captcha and 4 captchas to be able to solve another 3 captchas. What the fuck hiroshimoot
Hello friens, I want to rice my laptop for the first time. I want to do something that be same vibe like the image. (Dark anime? what would you even call this theme?) I dont know what to do or how to do it. Any recs? (I am using fedora kde btw) Thanks again for the help!
>>2268443 8 bit? Looks like an image converted to pixel art by certain converter, this one specifically https://app.monopro.org/pixel/ It produces very similar images.
>>2268857 with nothing. just remove this bullshit, it creates unnecessary visual noise. the right thing you probably don't use anyways and for searching apps you can just open start menu and start typing
>>2268855 Get Winutil and nuke everything possible. Disable Desktop Icons, Search exists for a reason, most of your shit games are within a launcher anyways. Also hide that disgusting search bar & task view from the taskbar, then go set small taskbar buttons since you're on a tiny screen.
>>2268808 >setting up I hope that means getting rid of half the stuff on there, the only good thing on that desktop is AC7. Because I know damn well you're not using battle.shite for StarCraft
