>needing a UI for ffmpeg
i could write a quick and dirty guide on using ffmpeg for hardsubbing, including all the basics, if anyone wants. i think CLI is easier than learning a GUI.
there's just 1 dumb quirk to hardsubbing i've never figured out a way around, but it's easy enough to understand.
but i'm also not going to type all this out if no one's actually interested.

some anon at some point would be, just make a rentry guide and stick it in the ops

>clipping by time
nah, I'm sticking with frame clipping in webm for retards
>>
>>6137169
if you ctrl+G in MPC-HC you get the timestamp
and ctrl+arrows steps through individual frames
the timestamp format it uses is accepted by ffmpeg
so i could use -ss 01:38.014 -to 02:15.398 for example for frame-precise webms
it's that easy

That little song the boys do is pretty famous, from the Kani Douraku commercials. They're known for that animatronic crab displayed outside their restaurants, and chances are you've seen it referenced more than once before.

If it weren't for the constant mention of kani, I could hear this melody in passing and assume it was the theme from a 1960s-70s adventure film.

Extremely serious and very important question: why do you guys keep making webm files and not mp4?
>>
>>6140104
Because it's 4chan and not your normalfag shit.
>>
>>6140130
Normalfag shit? Why adopt the Google format and not something obviously better?
>>

>I want to share clips from here on normie social media
>>
>>6140162
Anon, converting files isn't arcane wizardry. I'm just curious to know why the prevalence of WebM when MP4 is finally supported. It's not bait or me trying to be argumentative, I sincerely wish to know. A couple of days ago, there was an anon begging mods for WebP support and I found this baffling since JPEG-XL is the format of the future. I apologise for the off-topic questions, but I just don't understand why WebM.
>>
>>
>>6140104
This is why.
https://litter.catbox.moe/ievok7ep203tcxvc.png
https://litter.catbox.moe/zosbrnyadhfea4fl.mp4

h264 can sometimes perform better on pre-digital anime that has a lot of film grain, but vp9 usually is best for modern digital anime.
>>
>>6140173
Thank you kindly, anon. I know understand and will keep it in mind when making my own files in the future. But what about AV1?
>>
>>6140174
av1 smashes everything else, it's no contest. But 4chan only supports h264 for mp4.
>>
>>6140158
Because normalshits use mp4

I can enjoy them, that doesn't mean they're good though
I can forgive most of them because the source material is written by and for 15 year old boys, and the rest is for lonely 30 year old men, so a mature anime with good production is just really rare

Yeah I wrangled with this for most of an evening recently, making great progress reaffirming that I rather suck at this sort of thing, but a couple sentences from someone who can actually do it would probably help me connect the dots. Pic obviously unrel, used handbrake

That "Yama" ramen place is likely a reference to Ramen Yamaokaya, a famous chain of ramen joints. They have "use all you want" toppings like garlic... though I hear they charge extra now because of all the people wasting it, or taking advantage of it to slop pounds of garlic and shit on their ramen
