Extension to Everyone vs Gerard is pretty obvious one. Kubo in Klub Outside even revealed the actual weakness of Gerard and it would be super easy to write proper end of that fight around it. Hell, they kind of hinted at it in anime already when the fat lady from Squad Zero attacked Gerard and we saw glow coming from his chest.

The issue with fight against Gerard is that for such a long and big battle the ending was literally non-existing despite Kubo showing us an obvious answer.
The ending was literally just there, it just needed Byakuya or Hitsugaya to poke the fucking cross. It's one think when the battle is pretty much completely skipped like what happened to Yammy, but in case of Gerard we got pretty much entire fight, a setup for obvious and kind of lazy but functional finish and then Kubo shat himself and decided to not use it and write garbage about Gerard being absorbed by Ychwatch offscreen.
He had not enough time? Well then he could just not put there the entire Robo-Kira vs Lile setup (that by itself is fucking retarded) and then he would have enough time and space to put that ending there.

I took it that in the beginning to middle of the fight Gerard was actually beatable. If anyone noticed the Quincy cross and destroyed it, he'd be toast. But because The Miracle instead just let him resurrect from every lethal blow stronger than before, he attracted more Captains to take him down, with increasingly lethal moves that he had to adapt to, and by that point his weak point couldn't be exposed anymore and he was unbeatable. Only Yhwach frying him with the Ashwahlen to strip him of The Miracle actually stopped him, if Yhwach didn't do that the Captains would've lost.

Kind of the difference between Kenpachi + Hitsugaya being straightforward fighters versus an opponent who that won't work against, and Mayuri actually observing and analyzing to look for a weakness instead of just applying pressure.
