Not exactly hidden but I don't think any other show did "heavy mechs" as well as this one. They have an awesome presence and weight behind them, it's totally different than the typical agile swordfighting nimble mechas a la Gundam. We need more of it. The noir themes and societal amnesia undercurrents are also awesome. It truly has SOVL.

Idk why ppl bitch about the switch from CEL animation to newer techniques.
It's barely noticeable.
And if you look close, S1 has a bunch of CGI effects as well. It's just super subtle.

Man I fucking hate this. No one really does the heavy fucking robot thing well besides the ones the other anons already mentioned. I've seen a couple attempts at it over the years but in the end it's still floaty shit. Probably doesn't help that it's mostly 3DCG nowadays either, it just looks like cheap vidya. And not like the fun vidya like RAD.
