I sometimes feel weird being the only one who liked dragon ball but really couldn't get into Z, giving up partway during the namek saga. Especially when seeing how hard people go on Z and practically forget the og.

I just can't get myself to care about 20 episodes worth of magic ball charging where literally nothing happens except grunting for 10 minutes straight. Give me my "slideshow" and I'll eat it very happily. At least that's got plenty of goofy moments to keep me entertained, and a world that feels vast and mysterious.
Also loved Dr. Slump. Not enough people talk about it.

Honestly pretty true, the manga is probably better on this regard because the original dragon ball is much quicker this way, it doesn't nearly drag as much. Although this is an issue DBZ also has.

I still think there are some elements that are needed to be introduced through the OG like the senzu beans, Kami, his tower, the hyperbolic chamber, his relationship and development with Master Roshi, Bulma, Krilin, Chichi, etc. Even the Dragon Balls themselves. Not that I expect anybody not to know what they are, but if I were a kid and started only on DBZ I would probably be confused, I'm thankful for that that when I was little I started on DB.

1. Those with good taste - they like Tori's creativity and humor
2. The fightfags - they like good fights and care about consistent powerlevels

Cell arc falls in quality so Those with good taste are disappointed, fightfags are also disappointed because the powerlevels start making no sense and a lot of characters are left behind, but there are still good fights so they like it a bit, and tards love it.
Buu arc starts with an attempt at returning to the origins with humor and fun adventures, but then it shifts into tard territory. Fightfags dislike it because most fights are bad and poorly choreographed and many characters fall off even more, tards like it for the tard reasons but are a bit put off by the humor and Those with good taste enjoy the humor but obviously they don't like it as much as the original or the namek saga, and mostly are disappointed by how good it could have been.
