I might give it a shot if someone posts an "omae wa mou shindeiru" scene .webm that looks at the very least somewhat passable. Even OP ended up using a screencap of the old anime, so that does not exactly inspire confidence.

The first two were better than I figured they'd be, but the models are worse than the ones Lost Paradise used. Also I liked Ken in LP more. The ATATATATATATs were better. The Bruce Lee noises are about the same.

I'm conflicted. It's clear that the people making it have a lot of love for the source material.
>Faithful manga adaptation
>Good VA work
>Uncensored gore
>Good color grading and direction
But the CGI is a big sticking point. They managed to make it look fine overall but it will always carry the caveat of "good for being 3D". It doesn't help that the few 2D shots that we get look gorgeous. Also the music has been kind of boring so far.
I give it a 6/10 so far but I will be forced to up that to a 7/10 if they nail Shin.

I would say it looks fine 2/3 of the time, it use lighting and colors and camera position, is not lazy.... most of the times.
other times animation will be really stiff, like how the old man with the seeds move when he was "dying" the first time, instead of looking like he is almost dying, it looks like they didn't want to animate it.
But I agree, 3d parts are not as bad.
If people want to know how the show would look like if it was 3d, they would need to look the ending of episode 2, with shin, that scene was almost purely 2d, and wasn't that good either.

I feel like they're *this* close to making the cgi look good.
They got the right rendering technique down that lets them emulate the 2d look with the models but some parts, usually the hair and hands, just aren't quite there.
Pic related for example. I think it looks nice, the face, neck, jacket its all good. But then you see the hair and it just sticks out, reminding you its 3d especially in motion.

for me Bat flipflops from looking decent to shite depending on the angle
I think Shin got it the worst though, his hair and cape feathers looks like ass. It's might be why they gave him so many 2d shots.

Man, they keep teasing all this cool hand-drawn stuff. Imagine if this was what we actually got. There was an entire scene done entirely in 2D, I guess they didn't have the models ready.
Also, the direction in this is pretty bad. Nothing has weight, all these iconic moments just come of flat.

It would still be bland and soulless like the 00s movie pentalogy. Better than the 3DCGI cancer I guess but that doesn't say much.

Here's an easy hack to make the experience much more enjoyable. Start the episode, minimize it to the background, find the manga chapter of that same episode, then just read the manga along with voice dub and sound effects. It actually works very well, thanks to the faithfulness of lines and lack of filler.
