Oh good, an action anime with the guts to make a milf the main character, let's check it out. >JK she's not actually a mom Bullshit, Masane deserved to preserve her bloodline.
>>288508853 Does the Witchblade anime connect to the Dark Horse Comic at all? >>288514175 Honestly I would watch an The Darkness anime if it was done by Madhouse
I had a witchblade wallpaper back when the xbox360 still had the blade design. I will never forgive microsoft for taking it away in favor of the gay avatar shit
>>288527986 >merp eugenics are evil >not wanting your kids to be strong and healthy What an absolute homosexual faggot. Go ahead though, try to tell a jew or a chinaman that eugenics are bad. Idiot.
>>288530169 The eugenics shit is a sitewide pestilence. Ironic since most of the guys who drone on about bloodlines don't even reproduce or can't land anything besides landwhale single mothers. OR they use their JBW pass to get with a brown/black girl which basically negates their claims (they twist it around and claim they're "colonizing" or some stupid shit)
>>288508853 The scary Implication of how X-Cons, Cloneblades and A religious organization aren't even the biggest the biggest threat to her life since this is Witchblade
>>288535304 >Mystical Creatures >Demons from hell because of those multiple Witchblade x Spawn Crossovers >Aliens (People from Savage Dragon And Invincible) Poor Rihoko
>>288519487 It’s a cop out to pander to purityfags, that’s what. >I love mommys but I would DEFINITELY NEVER EVER lust after or engage with a woman that has carried a child and given birth
>>288540479 ...but you see her have sex with the girl's father? sure, she's that other bitch's kid because ceo man stacks bitches and tames thicc murder demons with his dick but still
>>288540225 It's actually a heartfelt story of a mother and a daughter thriving together as a conspiracy tries to take them down. I'm not even joking, the boobs are there, but the emotional aspects of the show are good as well.
>>288541284 this but unironically it tells an adult cape story without the irony poisoned self-awareness, as the vast majority of japanese adaptions do
>>288540286 I assume The Kenneth Irons figure would remove Reiji as the Token executive. That or Reiji would still exists and he will oppose the Kenneth Irons as the "Good corporate executive figure"
>>288541633 A Prototype with a Witchblade-esque MC (or a Witchblade game with Prototype gameplay) would kick all sorts of ass. Unfortunately modern western gaming has become afraid of the sexy female form, so it wouldn't be done justice in today's world.
>Vidya talk, Gook and Chink shilling out of fucking nowhere We invited /co/ to talk about how Darkness could be implemented here, why are /v/ and their gullible shills the one that show up?
>>288543677 Most likely a straight adaptation. Also I thought that Jacky only had a Daughter with Sara Pezzini the lead of Witchblade in the comic's. Wouldn't he die if he had a Son?
>>288543873 https://youtu.be/mj5tlow8muU?si=Wa_iHuZmT1qLDfjx >Witchblade >Aphrodite IX At some point we probably could have had a Tomb Raider anime as well back then, probably after a Darkness or Vampirella anime
>>288541998 Moe had been around for a long time by 2006; the difference is that back then, not all artists were trying to make moe, there was still a wide variety of styles.
>>288541292 It is certainly aware of tropes and pokes fun at them at times but I would not call Invincible ironic. It’s plays itself completely straight. It’s not completely up its own ass and tries to go “the thing you like sucks actually” like The Boys.
Felt bad for the cute daughter losing both her adopted mom and her biological mom(who was a bitch but was attempting to be better before getting offed).
>>288548403 Made for the nastiest, ugliest, smelliest and baldest ojisans to be fucked in the shower while her son is confused why her mom is making so much loud animal noises in the next room.
>>288549010 >smashes her with her ass >tentacle penetrates her >needle penetrates her >sexually mounts >gets leg straddle penetrated herself >revenge penetrate her one more time >she goes down what would've really tied a bow over this extremely sexual fight was if she gave masane a horny kiss while she was fading from consciousness
>>288549028 >>288549010 I miss animes where you could pause at any point during an action scene and there would probably be cleavage or an ass crack on the screen. these days even shows with nudity and sex scenes don't include it during action scenes.
>>288540225 Witchblade is a mediocre action anime that heavily relies on fanservice and is widely seen by many as a guilty pleasure series. /a/ is largely composed of full of sexually uninhibited people who equate fanservice with quality, so anything with skimpy outfits or jiggling proportions is overrated to hell. Witchblade is a dime-a-dozen edgy action show from the 2000s and people just want to complain about "old good, new bad". But "old" in this case while having that certain mid-2000s charm that may be better than the generic ecchi anime we get now still wasn't very good on its own merits.
>>288558495 devil lady would rape masane and be horrified at herslef masane would be estatic and act like normal after and spawn would jerk off in the corner like the cuckold fantasy he is
>>288558523 >and spawn would jerk off in the corner Al wouldn't even do that. He'd just brood in the corner whining about WAAANDAAAA while Cogliostro narrates.
>>288555659 So it's good. Whenever some self-hating pseud goes on a diatribe about an old anime not being good it almost always a great show that is far better than anything currently airing. This happens every single time.
>>288560374 Yeah, but in this case, Witchblade isn't as good as you remember. You're just thinking with your dick. It's actually impressive how Gonzo made a show about half-naked chicks in armor fighting each other boring. And the fights weren't even that great either. The only notable thing I remember about Witchblade besides the borderline pornography, is Gonzo pulling a Gonzo ending which pissed off Image Comics (or whoever was publishing Witchblade) by ending the series in a way that prevented them from using the animu to spinoff a Japanese girl Witchblade series.
>>288561607 To be fair there weren't that many fights to begin with, the fanservice was also less frequent of what the advertisement makes it look like.
>>288561607 >It's actually impressive how Gonzo made a show about half-naked chicks in armor fighting each other boring. This is the same studio that made "Seven Samurai vs giant mecha" boring. The same studio that made the fights in HELLSING boring. Gonzo's great at mood and aesthetic but unless they have unlimited budget like Afro Samurai it's very rare they do everything else right.
>>288562269 Her appearance in the comics amounted to nothing more but a cameo, and it was such a small cameo that you'd miss it anyway.
The Witchblade anime isn't canon to the comics anyway. The creators of the anime actually really dislike the American comics and just did their own thing, which pissed off the people behind the comics and burned bridges. There is also a manga series that is another completely non-canon entry depart from both.
>>288561607 Nobody is thinking with their dick because the most common compliment paid to the series is the relationship between Masane and Rihoko. I re-watched it a year or so back and I'd say it still holds up albeit it does start to sag towards the end.
>by ending the series in a way that prevented them from using the animu to spinoff a Japanese girl Witchblade series. I've always liked this about the anime because I'd prefer a self contained story instead of something that has to either conform and fit within the messy TopCow universe, or gets dragged back into said universe years later so the few characters or moments I like can get ruined. Screw what TopCow felt, let us have a fairly solid standalone series and move on with our lives.
>>288563282 That's nothing more but an easter egg and she didn't make a meaningful appearance in the main comics. >>288563340 Nope. Top Cow Productions and the Japanese anime take very different approaches to the lore and setting, and Gonzo's decision to permanently destroy the Witchblade and the primary wielder also created significant friction with the property's original owners, Top Cow Productions and Image Comics, because the studio effectively closed the door on the possibility of a direct anime spin-off focusing on a young Japanese girl wielding the Witchblade. It's not like the people behind the anime liked Witchblade anyway, they were just paid by Image Comics to adapt it and they did the job tasked to them but they ended up doing their own thing.
>>288560352 Her transformed form was my favorite one alongside Shiori's one, I didn't like how she doesn't wears her hair into twintails later on however.
>>288576859 Like others have said, Witchblade comics were carried by art and aesthetic rather than writing, and the previous reboot couldn't even do the bare minimum.
>Bring her in at the last minute >Dosen't do anything >dies Why didn't they just have her sidekick take the morality role since she died a pointless death too?
>>288573664 Witchblade had the opposite effect for me. I found it mind-numbingly boring back in the days, and even nowadays it's just another rather mediocre Studio Gonzo title. The mother-daughter story sounds nice on paper, but the actual execution is very superficial; the characters are nice, but also very superficial; the action wasn't good enough to keep me invested and the animation is really bad. So, overall, the anime is mediocre. If Studio Gonzo would focus more on the content and not just the presentation, which they clearly haven't managed in this case, I might have enjoyed the anime today, as the story itself had potential.
Another anime that adapted another American IP, Powerpuff Girls Z, was far more enjoyable to me because while Toei took creative liberties just like Gonzo did, they did so right from the start and cleverly wore the Japanese anime tropes on its sleeves to craft a genuinely entertaining spin-off that can stand on its own.
>>288584310 Nah. I'm just comparing the two, because both shows are American IPs that Japanese studios adapted and both anime deviated from the source material, they also both came out the same year. But while Witchblade failed, Powerpuff Girls Z succeeded because it knew what it was right from the start and leaned into the anime tropes. It was a moderate success in Japan: had respectable TV ratings, ran for 52 episodes and ended on its own terms. The DVD also had solid sales.
Witchblade's trajectory is the complete opposite: it performed poorly in Japan, the TV ratings were consistently low, and DVD/Blu-rays sold very poorly. I think the tonal whiplash of Witchblade caused the mixed to moderate poor reception; because it wanted to blend emotional family drama with erotic fanservice. Powerpuff Girls Z was very consistent, however.
>>288585003 >Witchblade's trajectory is the complete opposite: it performed poorly in Japan, the TV ratings were consistently low, and DVD/Blu-rays sold very poorly They should promote it harder, especially to adults (otaku) and teenagers (e-girl)
>>288585108 The audiences for the Witchblade anime *are* otaku, though. It occupied a late-night slot. And even within the broader otaku community, the show wasn't popular and struggled to find its footing. I assume they were turned off by the family drama which clashed with the violent, sci-fi, "monster-of-the-week" action, leaving many otaku audiences confused about what the show was actually trying to be. Regardless, Witchblade has always been one of these anime that had a cult following, or a niche within a niche.
>>288591928 kill la kill has a massive zoomer fanbase because of tiktok and meme culture witchblade fans are mostly just boomers reminiscing ''the good old days''
