>>288526186 Yes. That the art is great goes without saying (and its damn good) but its a story with meat on its bones. The magic system is detailed enough that you feel like you could design your own spells without getting overly burdened with powersystem autism, and the core conflict of the manga is nuanced enough that people genuinely argue where the line should be drawn in every thread. Both sides suck, but no one can agree on how the situation would actually be resolved between them because they are both reacting to a situation that is, at its core, unsolveably fucked.
Coco herself is a great protagonist who only shows her true mettle when the situation is dire, but those rare events show that despite her age and inexperience with magic she's a force to be reckoned with. And not due to some innate gift or special status, but rather because she refuses to back down when people need help.
>>288525981 But why? It's so fucking boring. I'm not even talking about cultural war or politics, just sheer entertainment value which it has none. It's so boring what the fuck.
>>288531032 it's a fundamental failure of the mind to not be able to comprehend that others might hold positions from your own - but by all means, continue popping off, nigger. we're all waiting for your next word on the subject
>>288534628 Pretty sure these episodes were already mostly done anyways, the behind-the-scenes documentary on Youtube already had character sheets and folder titles for later episodes visible on some computer screens.
>>288525981 I'm happy to have confirmation even though it was obvious and everybody with a brain expected it based on the original release window and what was shown in the studio tour.
Also, are you ordering the world material book, anons? I'm doing it because it tickles my autism for understanding the magic system. How about the OST? I'm ordering that too. About the only things I'm not ordering are the Grimoire editions of the manga and (obviously) the BDs.
I get that it’s probably a spoiler, but I saw a page/panel of a kid cuffing Coco and then being explained it forced her to tell the truth, and that made me want to pick up the manga more than any other page people talk about or show.
>>288540285 All you had to do in order to retain the upper hand against the samefagging retard flaming the thread was not reply to him. But you took it a step beyond and went and said something equally retarded in response. Bravo... All brains are, in fact, different from one another as a matter of course.
>>288540374 If we're talking about fundamentals, it's still true. It brings me no joy to have to take up arms against you, but male and female brains do have notable differences when compared to one another. It is simply the truth, it is observable. This fact shouldn't obscure your vision from the truth that that other anon is retarded.
>>288540539 No, my nerves are safely concealed within my body. Besides, if you touched an exposed nerve I would expect the response to be one of extreme pain rather than annoyance.
>Coco is still very young, so I find something precious in the relationship where Master Qifrey guides her. Sometimes the two of them tilt their heads at the same time or flap their hands while worrying about the same thing... it’s so cute I could watch them forever.
>>288539372 I've read some really wacky fanfiction back in the day where girls wrote either Sakura or Naruko (female Naruto) travelling back in time so that they could grow up with Kakashi and become childhood sweethearts and then marry him. If Witch Hat Atelier gets more backstory exposition and world history for Qifrey's generation, it is perfect fodder for the same type of story.
>>288541704 >Sakura and Kakashi People still write that stuff. Especially because of Sasuke being always absent. I swear they even have a tag for that, cheating-something.
>>288539293 I know it's the point of genderbends but it always disappoints me when the cool and differentiating hair styles of girl characters just becomes "just the bangs and a little bit behind that". And that's factoring in that men in this series ALSO can have hairstyles that aren't just short cut.
>>288547600 >>288548272 Schizo here. I speak for all schizos. We schizos lost & WHA won. WHA gonna clean up hard at the 2026 anime awards, right after Frieren.
>>288548272 >>288548425 I'll be honest, you guys are usually pretty non-ecelebrity so I don't know why this would be a thing. Even if I like WHA and obviously consider it good.
>>288534382 >Silver Festival is a slog I read all the chapters a month ago. Silver Festival is easily 1/3 of all the chapters so far. It really is a slog
>>288526186 yeah. first few volumes are very much carried by art and whimsy but starting at volume 4 with the second test arc and everything that follows it the story really starts to ramp up.
i like all the girls except agott but she's growing on me since she flew at mach speed to help coco, but i dont remember shit from the manga shit i dropped it from the painfully slow pace
>>288552853 Its one of the most viewed anime of the season. Up there with Re:Zero and Classroom of the Elite. If we compare it to Dorohedoro, it can get over 10 times the number of views per episode. Which is a blessing. MAPPA raped that manga.
>>288552934 Dorohedoro is better than WHA. The anime is better than WHA's manga at least. Good animation can't save that series while even less than ideal animation in Dorohedoro still allows the manga's quality to shine through. It's amazing to me how much of a normalfag thing WHA became while at one point almost nobody in the west knew it existed.
>>288553187 The Dorohedoro anime is unwatchable jank with horrible adaptations of the manga's artstyle. None of the charm of the manga is retained at all. Especially with how much got cut for time. The manga is 5/6ths perfect, but takes a dive at the end. WHA is one of the best YA manga out right now (the only real competition is Iruma-kun), and it has so far had a pretty rock-solid adaptation. There's really no comparison.
>>288553375 >YA manga You seem like one of the normalfags the manga and anime are currently being aimed at. The manga has also taken a much larger nosedive than Dorohedoro supposedly did and it's showing no signs of ending anytime soon. And it's telling that a poor adaptation of a good manga is better than a good adaptation of a poor manga.
The WHA manga has only improved as it has gone on. Every arc is better than the previous. I have no desire for it to end. The manga is very good and Shirahama is a skilled writer.
No part of WHA has been as annoying to read as Dorohedoro's shopping mall finale, so far.
Imagine being American lol I dont own them anymore my friends 10 yo daughter emotionally gaslighted me into giving her all my wha stash but I did own it for a week
I'm tired. have a coco before I sleep and dream of coco in my arms. dream of coco growing over the years and loving (me) more and more while I support her magic and daily needs in any way i can. Waking up with coco. Falling asleep with coco. Taking care of coco while she's sick. Taking care of coco while she's sad. Taking care of coco despite the knight moralis. Taking care of coco. I love coco.
>>288541704 Aggressive shitppers would chase out people given how the fandom moral polices people, they do that in the Naruto fandom nowadays to people who ship those two anyway.
>>288552853 Honestly it makes sense, its a 100% western Euro inspired story and aesthetic The new anime by the FMA mangaka is a flop in the west because its 100% jap JJK doesnt count
>>288555029 You need to understand that as money becomes more centralized, consumer spending becomes less and less important when compared to insvestments you can keep an economy running on rich people and their non-productive workers as long as the labor value of the general population remains low, because these people are forever bound to pay ever-changing prices for food, housing, energy, etc
>>288553890 Steal them back. It's the law of the jungle out there, children need to learn that only the strongest can thrive. Steal them back and gloat about it.
Also lmao. >flop 2014 A natural occurrence of market dynamics where most products don't succeed due to a variety of factors. >flop 2024 A product of a conspiracy to push globohomo that was heroically defeated by a bunch of pirates that never even bought games in the first place. Its very sad to see how dumb people on that board have gotten on average.
>>288526186 IMO yes. The only issue it might have is that the characters are too calm and the drama too light in the first half which might bore some people, but I feel like it makes the changes happening later just more impactful.
>>288535985 >possible season after that won't come before 2030 Not sure if I like it if it happens too soon. Though on the other side I am tired of one-cours and prefer adaptions with 24 episodes. And if even MIA has another movie in the works despite that Tsukushi doesn't release more than two chapters per year it might actually not take as long as I fear for the manga to finish its next subarc.
>>288526186 no. it became extreme snoozefest ever since they met the knight corps. I dropped the manga after the test arc where one of the friends got turned into a chimera
>>288538778 Probably getting it too. I miss the times when every well-drawn manga got its own artbooks and the likes. >>288544267 >And that's factoring in that men in this series ALSO can have hairstyles that aren't just short cut. Thought the same. Wonder if Richeh would look exactly like her brother as a boy.
>>288561413 Despite all the fujo art it gets I didn't expect Nippon Sangoku to be very popular. Wonder if the fandom overlaps with that of Golden Kamuy and Hyougemono.
>>288561413 >five star stories I've had this one in my backlog for forever now but I'm not sure if it'll wrap up before the author croaks so I've been putting it off.
>>288526186 >Is this manga actually good aside for the art? I got bored after like 4 volumes. After learning about all the gay and negro shit that happens later I lost all interest.
>>288560891 Tell me one redeemable feature of the animation. The colors are ugly and garish, the models look like toys, the posing and animation framerate is stilted, and lots of stuff is skipped. Lemme guess, theres an ED you like, so its all good?
>>288563195 >>288563226 >>288563252 So Qifrey, Oru, Tartah, Coco, Richeh and Euini I get. Can someone enlighten me as to why Tetia and Agott are who they are?
>>288566581 Agott: exiled noblewoman like Snow White Tetia: dressing up to change her identity like Puss in Boots, commoner charming a princess (prince in her case)
>>288561413 >Five Star Stories WHAT? This is still alive? Is the mangaka publishing more frequently now? Last time I checked (probably around 2017) it looked like he was releasing one volume per decade. I guess I should pick that up again after fifteen years.
>>288568456 I read a few chapters over a decade ago but it looks like it's been chugging along. There's been 7 volumes since 2015, with one that just came out last month.
The fact that this guy(?) didn't say a word in the scene with Qiffrey makes me believe that already met each other at some point and that Qiffrey would recognize his voice.
>>288570183 Many artists only learn about, respectively only get obsessed with a series after they've watched the anime adaption, so the majority of doujinshi tends to appear a bit after that. Usually starting around two months after the end of the first season if the anime is a one-cour (since they need time to plan and draw the doujinshi and many prefer to read the manga up-to-date first to get a better idea of the character backgrounds and dynamics).
>>288570570 I hate that even the Japanese are often animefags. It's sad seeing a manga get no or next to no fanart until it gets animated. If it gets animated.
>>288565898 Watch anything by Orange if you think there's anything redeemable about the Dorohedoro anime's 3D animation. >>288566057 >plot So nothing about the animation.
>>288573219 yeah i agree. i like that she's willing to fight with the knight moralis for being mean to her current family. she's willing to get up close and personal while getting ready for more.
>>288561680 A ton of men cannot conceptualize enjoying watching a female character without wanting to pivot that into imagining having sex with that female character. In their mind if they like watching a girl do things, this also means that they should fuck that girl.
>PLAP PLAP PLAP AAA RICHEH >PLAP PLAP PLAP AAA TETIA >PLAP PLAP PLAP AAA AGOTT >PLAP PLAP PLAP AAA COCO fall asleep with all of them in my bed and hopefully they get pregnant
>>288570058 >>288570038 >>288570183 Doesn't help that the main characters are like 11 years old. Although the anime seems to be an overall success it doesn't seem to have hit a higher level where we're seeing numerous Japanese fanartists churning out high quality art. Usually you can get a feel of this on xitter if a series takes off in Japan and suddenly artwork of the series keeps getting 20k+ likes. The fanart for WHA still seems imbalanced towards the West at this point. Also the yuri between Coco and Agott is laughable and Shirahama definitely isn't into teacher x student shit so doujin stuff will almost only be yaoi between Qifrey and Olruggio.
>>288573833 >For wolf-cock Sadly true. >>288573429 Exactly, best girl Is always the one that reacts first In situations like that. >>288574801 >Doesn't help that the main characters are like 11 years old This shouldn't be an Issue there are a lot of active lolicon artists, they should be all over Witch Hat now with the anime. The fact even Samneco who will draw like any loli has never ended up drawing Coco Is very strange.
we can all agree that Richeh is the cutest Chino clone right (also random question but whats with all the Frieren and Himmel pics together with her that keep appearing?)
>>288575103 it's just a minor trend. richeh is a bit emotionless like frieren at times and the blue hair is from himmel. it's just artists running with it like the frieren looking up meme.
>>288574801 >Doesn't help that the main characters are like 11 years old. Non-issue. Personally I don't find the characters as lewdable as a lot of other series, so I can kind of understand if people aren't drawing as much of that stuff. Not that there isn't any though. There's a lot more now than before the anime.
>>288574801 >>288574958 >>288575432 The characters being 11 shouldn't be an issue but the way the author writes and draws them is the problem. Medalist has a shitton of art for Inori and Hikaru and they're around the same age/younger than the Witch Hat girls. The difference is that the Medalist anime got more attention in Japan and the author is a yurifag lolicon which bleeds into her writing and attracts the lolicons while Shirahama is a politically correct fujo so her story attracts mostly fujos/general watchers.
>>288532448 >>288534628 Has there ever been a case in recent memory where a show with great animation in Season 1 did not shit the bed in Season 2? OPM, Frieren, MT, off the top of my head, all followed this pattern.
How much they shit the bed varies (OPM was the worst), but they all do to some meaningful degree.
I am 3 episodes in and so far it's a solid 7-7.5/10. The plot is pretty average so far but the magic system and the world looks interesting, the child characters aren't annoying and the fujo pandering with Quifry is off the charts. Still a very comfy show for sure. Does it get better? It took 10 episodes for Made in Abyss to become great from average/good, how many episodes will this series take?
>>288552853 >Japan Does anyone even care anymore? This is not the early 2000s, at this point with stuff like CrunchyRoll and Netflix, as well as other western investment, I doubt they give a fuck about Japanese numbers as long as it's popular in the west. >b-but muh glorious nippon views folded 1000 times... Maybe the author might care, but the suits in charge don't give a fuck, especially given Japan's terrible economic state making it a bad long term investment target.
>>288578264 The production for WHA is really 25 episodes that were split because Bug Films wanted more time so there may not be a significant downturn until the hypothetical S3.
>>288578319 >It took 10 episodes for Made in Abyss to become great from average/good, how many episodes will this series take? Honestly? This story doesn't have one of those moments that wins you over. You either like the story from the getgo or you find the character dynamics and plot kind of lackluster. With MiA the whole arc where they meet Nanachi is generally seen as the one that made it "special" and there's no peak like that in WHA, it's more of a steady ride. Some will argue that a certain "reveal" in recent chapters is the big turning point in the manga but both the side character death and flashback related to it felt convoluted to me.
>>288578923 >it's more of a steady ride. That's good enough for me. Hopefully the plot progresses at a consistent pace unlike Frieren S2 that was way too heavy on SOL side stories. Also just finished MiA S01 and episode 13 crushed my soul T_T. With the current source material, how many seasons of content does witch hat Atelier has?
>>288581871 It's a popular ship but Medalist is basically the highest profile anime series for lolicon artists to latch onto, especially for loli yuri since U149 is pretty old now in comparison. You definitely aren't going to see Western fans keeping track of the doujin of the kids since it's "taboo".
>>288581684 She doesn't. It's just schizos. You're probably also a schizo false flagging in order to argue with yourself and your schizo friends. I guess we're all schizos here.
>>288582224 >THE iDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS U149) is a Japanese spin-off manga series of The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls free-to-play simulation video game by Cygames and Bandai Namco Studios. The series is created by Kyowno, focusing on girls under 149 centimeters tall and 12-years-old or younger to be idols rumao I forgot how fucking blatant it was.
>>288585667 Alright, that explains why the novelization is slowing down then. Well, unless they are axing it after only two volumes, but trying to bridge the time between S01 and S02 sounds more likely for the time being.
>>288586649 Yeah, but don't expect anything special. Novelizations like this are strictly for kids and aren't particularly riveting reads. But it's good supplementary material for me since I'm an anime-only watching the raws without subs and this is a more or less scene by scene adaptation (of the manga, but whatever) so it helps me with the parts I couldn't quite catch.
>>288587140 I'm sticking with the anime for as long as they keep making it. After that if I still haven't dropped it yet I'll be switching over to the manga, but I don't want to ruin the anime experience by rushing ahead yet. Which I would, if I had the manga at hand.
>>288587283 me and my big burly boys coming to conquer this island and take their fertile women without knowing what magic is and somehow dodging all the massive sea monsters
>>288526186 No, its not good. It's common to say its 'boring', and this is true. Really the problem is that there are never any stakes (no one really dies/ gets memory wiped except for characters introduced for that express purpose) and the main characters are all too perfect. The magic system is not consistent (particularly egregious was the solution relied on to get rid of a monster in the most resent arc), which would not be a problem if people didn't glaze it so much. And every side character has to be presented as an idiot for the mary sue Coco or mary sue Qilfrey to save the day consistently. It is very woke (needless black/gay people in abundance). Overall, the series might be good for children aged 4-10.
I think maybe the problem is that this work is essentially written for women. Yet the art is nice.
>>288588850 >I think maybe the problem is that this work is essentially written for women. I don't know why people think the demographics of magazines don't matter. But in any case there's plenty of good manga written for women. This opinion hinges on having no idea what you're talking about.
>>288589300 Dungeon Meshi is another series I can't really see in a way where I'd enjoy porn of it. But I have seen that it exists. All the characters in DM are adults, though adults vs kids is obviously not an issue for what gets hentai.
>>288574801 >it doesn't seem to have hit a higher level where we're seeing numerous Japanese fanartists churning out high quality art What- the series is getting billions of well-drawn fanarts a day. You probably just ignore everything that isn't about girls.
>>288576899 I always forget that I wanted to read Medalist. I liked the first season but s2 looked like ass with the CGI shit so I ignored it and rather try the manga one day.
>>288575133 It's probably just because she's a calm and autistic mage (like Frieren) but shares the hair color of Himmel. Also, all three are from quite popular, recent fantasy series so there is a high chance that Japanese WHA artists have also watched Frieren.
>>288578319 If you want higher stakes and more serious character moments you should like it. It's a slowburn but it doe deliver IMO. Coco for example, who was my main issue at first, is definitely capable of rage and losing her shit and it will show. She isn't as naive as she seems to be, she's just insecure for being thrown into a world that was completely foreign to her before and tries to cope by being optimistic. But it's not just her, most of the characters have to deal with some serious shit that they're not really talking about.
>>288590283 The author does not need to actually kill off characters, but if the author appears 'incapable' of killing off their characters (or even just doing any serious harm to them), the work quickly becomes tiresome, because the reader knows that everyone will be alright in the end. This is part of what it means for a work to lack stakes, and why WHA is boring.
Even when the author does appear to be making an interesting narrative decision, she ends up quickly undoing it in order to preseve the perfection of her characters. Qilfrey is presented as maybe morally grey wrt memory wiping another character, but then later on the author needs to make him morally perfect again, and so makes it so the character actually volunteered to be mindwiped. How convenient! Stuff like this happens often in the manga: the author will appear to have her characters face consequences, only to quickly undo these consequences.
>>288591545 Qifrey still did it to the old man in the workshop without consent. The line was drawn that he wouldn't do it without consent to his best friend and no-homo-life-partner. Qifrey is still ruthless, but he's not some Frank Miller Batman level of madman. He isn't morally perfect because he still fucked that guy in the workshop and potentially others. He's just not actively a psychopath that can do it to a close friend all for his revenge plot. That doesn't make him perfect, it just makes him not a monster and it explains why he'd put his life on the line for his students beyond what would have utility for his revenge scheme.
The story is about good protagonists that want to help the world and a world that fights against being helped for a complex cocktail of reasons. The author isn't so stupid that she's going to turn them all into antiheroes that only happen to be aligned with reader morality out of convenience. It'd defeat the point of the story.
>>288591545 He still mindwiped Nolnoa and his entire relationship with Olruggio is extremely morally gray because he agreed to keep him tied to himself forever with him none the wiser, which eats away at Qifrey and is ironically what he needs to survive.
>>288588850 Is too soon, even Dragon Ball didn't kill a character that anyone gave a shit until chapter 86 (with Bore, so you know, even that is a stretch)
