Has anybody noticed that even though zoltrack is a race vaporizing specific spell none of the first class mages use it? They all use lesser less efficient, albeit fancier, spells. Meanwhile Frieren and Fern could vaporize an army in seconds. Though granted, Frieren and Serie probably have nuke tier spells as well.
>>
>>288542981
It's probably that zoltrack is the most mana efficient spell and there's no reason to use anything else, but the other spells are fancier looking and mages are stupid.
This exact problem happens in vidya all the time.

It was explained during the chuunin exam arc why Zoltraak isn't popular. It has a hard time against the defensive magic, unlike the spells that manipulate the matter.
>>
>>
>>288544604
He did say that but Fern used it to drive Ehre into submission like it was nothing so basically the real reason would be because most mages of the age are just weak. Fern states that Frieren told her that Zoltrack is enough to deal with most modern mages and Frieren herself only uses Zoltrack against Denken too (He even admits he was toyed as if he was nothing but an apprentice)
So basically they are all just to weak to use it properly? Is that it?

This.
>>
>>288542981
We've seen Denken use it. Hell, Ubel actually fired one once.
>>288544910
Fern overpowered Ehre through speed. She fired so fast that all Ehre could do was block and defense magic eats up more mana than Zoltraak does, so she ran out. It's more or less what she did to Lugner, firing too fucking fast repeatedly.
And in the entire manga, we've only seen a single mage outspeed Fern. Frieren was very clear that Fern is stupidly fast.

Actually, Fern has never been noted to have exceptional mana compared to other human mages her age. We know she can't fly for more than 30 minutes, but we don't have a baseline to use as a comparison there. Also, we've seen her completely run out of gas in short order (Solitar) so she's capable of burning through her entire mana supply quite quickly.

Question, was this flirtation? Frieren is giving off the energy of

That’s how it came across to me at least. They drop hints at her flirting with Stark throughout the show.

Fern thinks she has Stark under her thumb but little does she know elf granny is banging him behind her back whenever she our doing chores for them. Personally, I’m very much a supporter of Fern being cucked by Frieren.

This dynamic where a young woman’s mom/maternal figure steals a young man from what would’ve been a stable relationship between a blossoming young couple and instead has a casual sex/age gap relationship with the young man while the young woman has to accept being cucked by her own mom is so fucking hot, I would love to see Fern cry as she watches Frieren conquer Stark’s body right in front of her and all she can do is cry.

I don’t know why but I’m such a sadist when it comes to Fern. I would love for Fern to catch Frieren and Stark in the act and then Fern would feel so betrayed by both of them that she’d kill herself and that’d be the end of the story. Wouldn’t that just be the best way to end this manga/anime? I’d get off so much if this was animated, I feel high just thinking about how much despair Fern would suffer. Literally the only two people in her life that she in any way loves hurt her in the most dramatic and emotional way possible that she wouldn’t even know how to react only with disgust and rage at the destruction of their dynamic as a party and as a found family. She’d definitely kill herself and that’s the way the story should end with Frieren and Stark having to figure out how to live with themselves as the last shot is on the grave of Fern. They’d probably agree to never speak to each other ever again and try to forget what they caused. So fucking bleak and it’s exactly what Fern deserves. Someone needs to make a fan manga of this.

It was explained in the Aura arc that the best way to build up your store of mana is to constantly drain it; Zoltrack and defensive magic are the best for that. Spells outside of those two are usually more efficient or better against defensive magic. It's like comparing a fighter who only focuses on strength vs one on technique, like the stronger guy is simply going to blow through the weaker guy's options.

It’d be stupid to revive anyone since the reason why Frieren is on her adventure north is to find Himmel in the land of the dead. Bringing characters back to life would sully the whole purpose of the journey.
>>
>>288574988
It would be jumping the shark. In hindsight it could have made sense to keep Aura and Linie as a Team Rocket to fight the heroes every so often, but decisions were made. Linie is the one who could have been an addition to the team.

No it’s not. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is about reconciliation with regret. That is the actual point of the story and only a less than even mediocre analysis could ever come to the conclusion that the story is about living in the past, never letting go, and ignoring the present. This board needs more media literacy, it’s getting pathetic here.
>>
>>288579467
"Media literacy" is the favorite buzzword of people who just don't watch media beyond whatever is currently the most popular slop, but want to appear more intellectual than they are.
Case in point. You claim that Frieren (Beyond Journey’s End is a made-up title that is almost a worse mistranslation than "Attack on Titan") is a story about reconciliation with regret. Because "reconciliation with regret" is pozwords which make the story deep. If a story is about something, then its general structure and main cast should serve the presentation of that idea. (Unless the story is just shit.)
So tell me, how Frieren's main characters, the dynamic between them and plot beats serve the idea of reconciling with regret? Not "dwelling on regret". Not "allowing regret to define everything you are". And of course, not "having random powerlevel fights". Reconciling with regret.
>>
File: IMG_4265.jpg (125.7 KB)
>>288579588
First off I am going to keep calling it Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End because that’s the official English title for it and secondly anyone who knows anything about the story knows that it’s very clearly using regret to progress the characters to a better stage of personal development. Frieren herself is growing by choosing to try to reconcile her regret of not getting to know Himmel better by traveling north to find the land of the dead so she might find Himmel’s ghost. That’s not Frieren being stuck in the past, it’s her intelligently confronting her own inadequacies to grow as a person.

That's not reconciliation. That's the exact opposite of it. That's Frieren being unable to live with her regrets, unless she finds a magical fix for her personal failures. And that's the textbook definition of being stuck in the past. In multiple ways. Not only Frieren is refusing to move on, she is repeating the same mistake of deliberately not thinking about her companions and their differences with her, by dragging the kids on what is a sightseening stroll to her, but a quest that would consume 20 best years of their lives to them.
And it gets worse than that. In the Goddess Monument Frieren already got her chance to confess to Himmel, to give his cock a good ride, and get over it, once and for all. That woulf be the least significant of timeline-breaking things she did in that arc. But nah. That would give her the closure, and the closure would force her to search for a new meaning in life, and that's too hard. She likes being stuck in the past and treasures her regret, thank you very much.

What? It's about realizing the value of appreciating the present. The whole story has been Frieren realizing what she didn't appreciate in the past and doing better this time. Himmel shook her millennia of isolation to the core and once he was gone and she realized what she could never have the chance for again, she's making sure not to lose those chances now. She'd been so hyper focused on the demon king she abandoned people for centuries. Now retracing her memories with the heroes party makes her see how valuable making memories with people is right now.
At the land of the dead we're definitely getting Frieren coming to face Himmel with full force of appreciation everything she's learned from their journey, stories of how she's been applying that to the new one. And if Himmel can speak from the other side, he'll tell her to keep on living for the future.
>>
>>

>The whole story has been Frieren realizing what she didn't appreciate in the past and doing better this time.
Has it?
>Now retracing her memories with the heroes party makes her see how valuable making memories with people is right now.
That's why she's using two traumatized, guilt-ridden, emotionally dependent orphans as pack mules and bodyguards on her personal nostalgia trip?
The further the story progresses, the more it dwells on Frieren's old adventure with Himmel, eventually including literally going to the past. And Stark/Fern increasingly turn from pupils into accessories.

The only way you'd have access to Serie is if you were a mage or an enemy of hers (in the latter case of which you'd be dead before you could approach, anyway), and it's established that almost every mage is scared shitless of her.
