"Themes and such" is a phrase that exists to mock people who like the vibe of themes, because it makes them feel smarter than they are, without understanding the essence of what makes themes good in a story.
Nobody uses "Themes and such" for Crime and Punishment. Why is that? Well because the themes are actually good, and are actually properly explored and explained by the story, following logic of cause and effect to present themselves to the audience.

Now, Part 2 not only has fucking terrible, outright immoral themes, but they are also poorly presented, contraddictory, and the chain of cause and effect breaks so much it becomes impossible to consider said themes seriously.
This is why "themes and such" can be properly used to mock part 2. Because apart from the vibe of "themes", if you scratch the surface you only find "and such". "and such" meaning that there's nothing there, there is no exploration or explanation, it's a themathic void. It's slop, for piggies like P to slurp up and self masturbate about how literate they are. How much they understand the themes and such.
But P will never understand what a theme even is. He is a cargo cult, he wears the vibe of a theme but will never understand the essence, which is why no matter how often and long you explain to him why part 2 is shit, he will never get it. He will never understand why the ending fails until he understands what makes a theme work. You can only pity an individual like him, and let him wallow in his ignorance.

I bet the reason Fujimoto didn’t make Aki and Reze appear in the ending is because their fates were so tragic in the original timeline that showing them again would ruin the tragedy surrounding them. But what that retard didn’t realize is that everything that actually made those characters tragic doesn’t even exist anymore.

Best way to get the rest of part 1 done in a reasonable timeframe is probably one short season for Int. Ass. plus maybe Hokkaido, and then another short season for Gun and Control.

I think basing Part 2 off of their relationship and then making their relationship negative and them not ending up together was a mistake. Asa telling Denji that he needs to think and that they'll do it together is a nice relationship building moment only for it to not end up going anywhere since Asa's just taken hostage as the damsel in distress by Yoru in the last arc. Also Yoru was a complete flop who's not even more liked than side character level.

That kind of turns me off from the relationship. What I liked about it was that Denji and Asa both came from loss, but together they could rebuild. A bittersweet, but more upbeat message. If they get together now, it's not the same, their relationship isn't as powerful to me because those past moments in their life and journey that allowed them to connect don't affect them. It might be a lingering sentiment or a feeling of nostalgia in the new world, but ultimately it's not a part of who they are now.

It's the same if Reze and Denji meet in the new world, the feeling is hollow and doesn't mean much to me. I can get that feeling of meaningless that Fujimoto wanted to convey, but that was his intention even if I don't like it. I think the message triumphed over the characters and resulted in this ending that on the surface is a happy one, but it doesn't really feel connected to the characters and story you were reading before.
