During the long cope I recently started writing my own fanfiction about Courier Six and ED-E getting Isekai'd instead of John, spirited away during their trip to Baja. It's been pretty fun deviating from the original story with this new uprooted wasteland annihlator now stuck in the strange alien world. Plenty of slice of life interactions with the locals trying to make himself not seem like the most ferocious and unapproachable thing visiting sejan. Culminates with him becoming the self proclaimed sheriff of taodal and raising a militia to protect the town from pirates wanting revenge. I might post it here later if anyone is interested in reading my cope musings trying to continue what was left neglected for years.

Isn't Courier Six literally another blank placeholder character? He can either be the game cover cool NCR ranger hero, some murderhobo addicted to jet or anything in between.
Still sounds interesting please post
>>
>>9212577
Yeah, but by the sounds of it he's using Six post-Mojave. It's almost a peggy sue situation, someone whose had their adventure and now is on another, rather than some joe schmoe just stepping over the threshold for the first time.

I mean sure he can be a blank placeholder but for brevity it's the courier that I always play as which tends to be a space cowboy with a strong preference for guns over energy weapons because vaporizing something just doesn't feel as satisfying compared to shooting them dead with a big iron.
>>9212593
Correct, he got bored watching the slow reconstruction of New Vegas but thanks to a reference from Heck Gunderson about his excellent service back in california another Brahmin baron needs his tracking skills to find his son, a freshly minted black armored ranger that went missing along with an entire detatchment of rangers out in Baja. The NCR is keeping a death grip tight lid on it because after the failure of annexing Vegas this potential pr disaster could rip the republic apart in full scale revolt. I make sure to incorporate much of his past adventures skillset like making the environment complete hell to navigate through without loss of limbs and life with diabolical floor traps hidden beneath bramble, spiked pitfalls, grenade bouquets, satchel charges buried in the sand, all things picked up from the father in the caves back in zion and the ghosts of the sierra madre.

Akshually he's more traumatized from the Sierra Madre, because that's where I died the most compared to every other dlc (those DAMN shielded speakers). Closest place that can be considered actual hell on earth and he can never forget the first time hearing and seeing a ghost get back up from something that would put you in the dirt forever.

I appreciate it. It's pretty fun blending together two things I really like in an organic way while also taking a crack at storytelling myself. It's such a shame to see a cool series like this just die from neglect. One of my favorite scenes is when hagen is out camping with shyni on their boat adventure trying to mak her a wasteland omelette from a deathclaw egg he picked up off a car tunnel nest back home only to hear his prized protein start to slowly crack open from it's shell thanks to the hot, humid tropic clime speeding up the little guys incubation into a fruiting little murder mitten hatchling.

It's just some particular artists who draw them like this, ending up in a cuntman territory. Not just a body shape, but head/face shape too, Vetra and Nyreen had a prominent feminine faces, even with a hint of eyelashes,

We never saw nude Turians as far as I know. Maybe in some comic 10 people read? This concept art includes titties at least. Nyreen's casual clothes kinda have something bulging there on the chest too. It's just Andromeda that was lazy and rescaled the same clothing used by men for women, hardly the only anatomical fuck-up.

Yeah, and many others as well, hence why I want them to make comparable big fleshed-out settings as competition. The illustrations are nice but I wish they amounted to something larger.
Been feeling that for a few years now, probably escalating dissatisfaction about the state of fiction across the board... and yes I'm doing my own thing to help fix that but I'm just one guy who is starting from scratch.

i do enjoy making up random lore stuff but ive never tried to write a real story, wouldnt consider myself good at writing or anything. i too would love to make something larger where all my critters and characters could fit in, i just dont know if it would be a novel

A lot of writers do series' of short stories, novelettes or novellas centering around recurring characters, most often problem stories but the problems can be sociological. The serial format also works, which is essentially what most long ongoing chapter stories are.

Idea for an alien races:
Serptine speceis, they resemble cobras, are as large boas, and have humanoid heads/faces.
They also have fairly comparable telepathic powers and advanced to the space age my mentally dominating other lifeforms on their planet to use as their legs and arms. A snake wrapped around a gorilla and using its hands as its own.
Egotistical, proud, yet cunning by necessity. They seek strong bodies and to dominate them
>>
>>
>>9214017
You know, when I was typing that out, I did remember about Organo-Snake but I swear it was more about snek babes when I was creating them
I swear to whatever story idea I attached to the snake chick I was thinking about was different from them

pretty much on the money.
mostly snakelike locomotion, but the two bottom limbs can walk with it at the same time, helping with climbing stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, slopes, etc.
but they can move without them on the ground and just have a third set of lower arms. theyre used situationally

Ngl man wtf the Jakkari are just reskinned russians.
They got their breachers, their smg flankers, their heavy gunners, their rifles with optics and ironsights, and their fireteams...
Why, humans have these things in these exact setups, why do aliens from another star system across the galaxy have the same setup?
>>
>>9214261
to be fair, even in Niven's Footfall, the elephants have a squad and fireteam analogue, they have SAMs, something like a tank, artillery, etc. There is just a base level of unit cohesion you're going to encounter. If you're fighting in a modern or near modern tech level, you've going to have similar trendlines unless the terrain makes it a much more radical departed like an aquatic race such as the Brokers or some form of zero G race like the Ousters in Hyperion
The main challenge for snek is how does he make the Jakarri Doctrine deviate to be distinct and how its indicative of their culture.
>>
>>9214323
to build off of this, one even within the various nations of Earth, differeing cultures and nations have doctrines sculpted by their goals and needs based on what they can do and what they want to do with the resources they have. So you can have an alien race with these unitary analogues, but they have to be distinct in execution and presentation.

>new mass effect game's quarians are revealed
>they're all fridge-bodied / wearing baggy hazmat suits, or wearing full sets of head-to-toe figure-obscuring sharia law robes
I fear that this is likely

>I fear that this is likely
Quarians have been raped since Tali's face reveal at the latest, they need a complete do-over.
For one thing I always found it weird there's not more diversity in their appearance. Not being able to show their face feels like something that would drive a person to put more effort into expressing their individuality (or belonging to a specific family/ship) through clothing and jewelry. The occasional robe, shawl, skirt, baggy pants, cape, tabard, poncho, bracelets, necklace, ankle bracelet, you name it, in vibrant colours with zany patterns, would go a long way to making Quarians less visually boring. Just remember Tali's trial how every NPC wore the same suit in a drab green, brown and grey color scheme, like a game of Spot the Anime Protagonist.
This isn't me saying they shouldn't be sexy, it's possible (and desirable) to show curves or draw attention to certain parts of the body with tactical use of clothing. As for will they... I don't really care, I probably won't even play it. The games have been a series of increasingly bad decisions and I have no faith in them delivering on the next one. Turian babes are still hot tho.
>>
>>
>>9216264
I read somewhere that each suit /is/ customized, you just don't really see it in gameplay due to tech and dev time limitations. Like the patterned fabric tali's suit has; that's supposed to be custom for every quarian.
I think it was part of a ME book that released after the end of the trilogy? It was from a human's perspective on a quarian ship/station about how they recognized each other. The general point was that the differences between suits were supposed to be subtle, rather than overt like you're describing with the different clothing pieces (not that that's a bad idea).

Yeah, I'm going for like a murky, misty, steamy look. It's a dark temple, which sort of invokes a feeling of intense intimacy, verging on (or crossing into) claustrophobia. So that it really has the feeling of all the bodies of the ritual participants are pressed tightly to the "serpents" (thats what yautja call them anyways), with no escape from the obviously impending insemination and impregnation.
>>9216426
Maybe sometime, but I always felt hat xenomorphs were more male than female, given that they are literally giant walking cocks with teeth. They are very pointy too, which leads me to feel they are penetrators, instead of the penetratees.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>9216489
Well, the xenomorph DOES have both female and male aspects. So it is both a seductive destructive woman and a raging rapist male. So going either way is not against Giger's sensibilities, since the xenomorph has both potentials. That's partly why its so enduring.

Didn't, and got good stuff.
While I'm at it, would like to see more
maned wolves
.

I don't need to tell you that Giger didn't work on that game. Pic rel is how the original 1979 Big Chap alien looked.
I think also part of why xenomorphs are made female by artists is a self-fueling cycle. Because many artists aren't really fans of the Alien series, they just draw versions of other fanart. So you end up with super distorted or inaccurate versions of the original designs.
Something similar happens with yautja too.
>>
>>
>>
>>9216511
Glad you like it, I know it's pretty niche. But it always felt just sensicle to me. Yautja in the canon (both films and comics and games) already do the ritual xenomorph breeding thing, so turning it into an erotic situation, and THEN making it like some kind of edgy "heretical" deal is very powerfully suggestive.
Also, with how Yautja temples in all media have xenomorph and yautja iconography all over them, it just lends itself perfectly to this.

Sorry about that, couldn't find you two after the last thread got "busy."
>>9204122
Thanks again, life could be worse. But otherwise, it's been nice to get back into it again. I never had the books growing up, so I can indulge in learning more about the series past wiki articles and web serials. I wish Metru Nui had a mnog spin off back then. Could've played as Takua being a public nuisance for the vahki. Looking forward to the Ignition trilogy, too.
>>9206459
No, not quite. I usually write the kosati to sound like they're from an older time to reflect their some of their aesthetics. I've tried to simplify the dialogue in general, but nobody's told me if it's been working so far. Glad you notice it, regardless. I just hope the mini comics are fun.
>>
>>
>>9216678
I tend to go by the themes established in the 1979 film, instead of 1986 themes. In Alien, the xenomorph(yes I know it's a nondescript term from 1986, but constantly typing "alien from alien" is just tedious) isn't a hive creature really. It's much more ambiguous.
But it's never been established that xenomorphs are female even in 1986, only the Queen is, the rest are neuter.
But, again, I go more by how Giger and 1979 treated the creature(s), and use 1986 for some flavoring.
And of course, my treatment of the xenomorph as masculine is just my own preference, especially when paired with yautja.
>>
>>
>>9216693
I actually find the early script idea that the creature is actually the infant form of a much more intelligent race, and was passing through a mindlessly aggressive "puberty".
But, for erotic potential, the savage and reproductively aggressive xenomorph will always be much more tantalizing.
Still, I wonder what might've been had that been what 1986 had gone with. Though, we would never have had AvP without that success so I suppose its give and take.
