I want to study but my ADHD makes it so hard. I hate reading shit I don't care about. The most productive I've ever been was when I had somebody kicking my ass to do stuff. But I don't have any friends or study partners to do that. What can I do?

I could go on my college's reddit and find people, but I'm scared. Not of talking but potentially attracting retards (and the unknown in general). It's insane how many retards attend college. I need actual smart people that motivate me to work hard.

Do you know anyone in your class? They'd be the best study partners

Are you being medicated?

Google for "body doubling".

No, nobody really talks in my classes. It's a commuter school + professors are really bad at creating a culture where students talk to each other. I did have some dudes try to take initiative to talk to me but they always turn out to be bums that fall off the class. My fears are not unfounded.

Nope. Have shitty insurance and only have a part-time job so probably can't afford it anyways.

>body doubling
I've considered maybe streaming on Twitch or youtube as a possible way to hold myself accountable. maybe i can just sit there and pretend someone is watching me

Bro tell me about it. I'm just here to procrastinate
I can take stimulants, I can watch motivational content, I can occasionally force myself to go through something painful. But when it comes to doing boring mental work it seems that the only thing that will ever reliably motivate me is FEAR of failure. And even that isn't reliable.

only retards that dont have this condition say that. people dont say autism or aspergers is fake when they can look at anyone that has it and clearly tell theyre different. but unlike those two, ADHD doesnt prevent you from socializing so it looks invisible to everybody except to other people that have it. the part of your brain responsible for willpower is literally 1/3rd smaller than a regular person's.

use addy for that?
also can I ask are there any subjects you actually enjoyed and focussed in school?

if you cant source addy on campus just try some pot. productivity strains to exist

I have very bad news for you Anon, ADHD and Autism have the highest likelihood of comorbidity, even more so than depression, so chances are if you have ADHD you also have Autistm and if you have Autism, you also have ADHD. The research is getting to the point that there are psychologicsts actually suggesting that ADHD and Autism is the same illness just with vastly different symptoms if Autism is a spectrum.

As someone with ADHD who has their shit somewhat together:
>get medicated
I don't have insurance and I work for 17 dollars an hour and I can afford my meds, you have no excuse, I can help you out and there are tons of private programs who are willing to discount your meds for you if you're willing to shop around.
>if you drink caffeine stop, if you drink alcohol stop
Both can really fuck you up and make your ADHD symptoms worse so if your addicted to either start tapper off.
The only exception to this rule is green tea due to the l-theanine in it and the low caffeine, if you MUST drink caffeine don't drink more than 100 mg a day.
>bedtime and relaxing time is holy
I'm not being hyperbolic here, literally bedtime is sacred, set one and stick to it, drop everything and sacrifice everything to keep it sacred. People won't get it, because they aren't like us, but give it a month and you'll feel so much better.
Same thing with relaxing time, if your extroverted, do stuff that relaxes and recharges you. If your introverted (like me) spend time alone and do what you want. I generally make Sunday "my day" because I'm also religious and I'm supposed to rest at that time anyway so it's a great excuse to just blow shit off and take care of yourself. Any work or anything stressful can wait till Monday and if its something you need to do, then make sure you get it down on Saturday. Plan ahead, speaking off...
>Plan ahead
I know its ironic because ADHD and its hard to stick on a schedule but it doesn't have to be a schedule as much as you picking things that are important: tests, papers due, shit that has deadlines, and setting aside time each week or day to do that thing. Don't over complicate it, don't force yourself to do it, do as much or as little planning as you want just make sure its sustainable and you're getting your most important shit done. This includes getting to bed on time and relaxation.

I'd post more but I'm out of space.
