We have a 17 yr old spayed small dog who I noticed had a significant amount of yellow discharge that looked a lot like this

https://vethelpdirect.com/ask-a-vet/topic/my-dog-has-a-thick-discharge/

She removed it before I took the op pic. Is this normal at all or a guaranteed infection? Is there an over the counter med i can get online or in person if it is an infection? She has always been lethargic and more thirsty for a few years. She has had that big brown anus ring thing usually fluctuating in size but has disappeared before. All of our vets and groomers have said the butt ring is normal.

Genuinely sorry for the disgustingness of this photo. I am a germaphobe and am about to clean this so you can imagine that I'm not happy. I'm very concerned for her and want to help her. I dont want her to suffer or die.

There doesn't appear to be a spoil post image function on this board. Very sorry this is gross.

might be a urinary tract infection or something similar. I'd see a vet and get her checked out.
