The lumpenhogs would rather comfortably wallow in the mud than topple their electronic masters

Unbothered. Moisturized. Happy.

One gentle push from the boar and it would drop down like a sack of potatoes.

Why do they spazz out so much when they fall over? I feel like it would be pretty easy to program them to stop moving when their gyros show they're horizontal

Amazing what humans can do when the government makes them do what they should instead of letting the free market twiddle its thumbs until consumerists think they need a robot to keep up with the johnsons while keeping real progress a military secret

Because they are not autonomous. They are toys. You either have them play out preprogrammed set of moves (like here, dancing), and it just breaks their routine.
Or you can use a controller to move them around like in the OP, but you don't get much options there. That boar would fuck it up easily.
Very advanced LEGO Technic.

I hate that most stuff in terms of AI and robotics just seems to try imitate cool scifi shit that we want but it's mostly just smoke and mirrors

Dude that boar would think it was having a nightmare. It just keeps hitting this fucking thing until it can barely stand then the robot gets up and starts *wanning* towards it again. Powerless to stop this invincible human thing. It would run away into the woods until it fucking died

that video clip is ai though (ai can't into realistic physics)

Even the very term "AI" is part of the smoke and mirrors, exploiting decades of science fiction media to prime people into thinking their LLMs are more than just an elaborate, upscaled version of their phone's autocomplete function.
