When I was a security guard some of us had two 8s and two 12s. It was at a car parts plant and the 12 hour shifts were always on the weekend when no one was there so we would just fuck around and sleep.

I work four 10-hour days now The only things keeping me at this shit job are the pay, which is pretty good for the area, and having a three-day weekend every weekend

I've worked 13 hour days for 7 days a week before. That was great. For money. Had a shower and rest for an hour at lunch in my donga every day. Made money fast. Felt great.
But for most shit jobs knocking off early is a godsend. A few hours, lunch, a few hours again, knock off sounds good is good.
Get the job done is probably the best though. Just do it fast, hard, properly and until completion then have a holiday until the next job.

We work 2 x 16 hour shifts and then an 8. 4 days off a week, tons of vacation, excellent pay and all the overtime at time and 1/2 you could want should you want it. But I basically sit around and observe all day. Occasionally have to do some crazy shit. 4 weekdays off every week is nice.
