Why does nothing happening? I've been on 4chan for the past year and I haven't witnessed a single real happening. I wish I was around to experience the old 4chan. There's all this insane shit I've heard about from the old days, but I've experienced none of it.

Don't be preposterous, we're one of the best places to:
>astroturf support positions their bosses support
>astroturf opposition to positions their bosses oppose
>monitor, track, and trap low-level, low-skill criminals
>manage dissent by creating space for venting without further action
Modern 4chan is a glownigger's dream. They can simultaneously exploit the anonymity baked into the site and the average newfag's total lack of self-preservation.

There's a schizo obsessed with having them 24/7 with the sole purpose of shitting on a specific manga. He
>talks to himself to fake discussion to make the threads look alive (which immediately go to page 10 when he sleeps)
>blatantly samefags replies to pretend more people agree with him
>mass-replies to random posts and accuses others of samefagging
>created a boogeyman from his own delusions (a brazilian fujoshi woman named Sophia who is also a mod on 4chan with a vendetta against him, because he saw that the manga he hates was liked by brazilians and fujos and he once found a single tweet from a girl nicknamed Sophia that mentioned the manga, he often uses a screenshot of that tweet as "proof" of having doxed her and gets banned for it)
>claims that every time people talk about the manga he hates it's a coordinated discord raid
>makes daily threads about the manga he hates, samefags a little, then lets them die as "proof" of the manga being unpopular (every time he makes one of those threads his WSJ threads cease all activity)
>has been IP-wiped at least 100 times by now, often in ways that comically out him as a samefag (two recent threads had around 150 posts deleted, mist of them being him acting like a retard)
>makes new WSJ threads when the previous one is at 480 replies to makesure the manga he hates isn't featured (nowadays nobody else bothers to makes these threads since the schizo ruimed them)
>spams dozens of new WSJ threads every time mods get tired of his shit and don't let have one until the previous one is archived
>attracted other schizos that have been fighting each other for years so now everything is a horrible mess
You can see his derranged samefagging and autism in the latest thread:
https://desuarchive.org/a/thread/287491446/
Dozens of deleted posts replying one after another to the same thing, bringing unrelated xitter drama and aluding to mass reporting done by fans of the manga he hates to ban "people like him".

The hack revealed that every board has tens of thousands of open reports at any given time, so instead of wasting their life reading every report modsjust delete what personally annoys them. That schizo only gets banned when he tries to spam threads or when he brings completely off-topic drama, but most of the time he's allowed to fill entire threads with his rants.
>>24221253
No. Before the schizo appeared WSJ threads were only made in wednesdays (when nips would leak bits of the magazine like the cover, color pages and table of contents) and sundays (when the magazine and manga chapters come out).
>>
>>24221248
It's not really realistic anymore to actually ban people and prevent them from using 4chan anymore, so one extremely dedicated schizo shitposter shitting up one thread slot on one pointless board is probably an okay concession.

well there was that "(b) Safe Harbor" provision, maybe that would give them some leeway?
anyway this bill is a worst case scenario, interests pester the public with these bills repeatedly for years until they finally submit
but even if this one goes through, it only goes into effect 1 year after, which should give (You) some time to prepare or move or whatever

>Pretty ballsy doing this during an election year. But his state is Blue so I guess he isn't worried about his constituents voting him out.
It's not like either party has a good stance on this issue, it's too easy to score free points for protecting the heckin kidderinos to actually think about the trends and practical effects of this.
The reality is kids are getting web-connected devices at younger and younger ages, so one of the following needs to happen:
1. Parents need to actually monitor what their kids are doing, set parental controls properly, and not just let a screen raise their kids, or
2. The devices need to just to be set up from the jump to lockdown content based on age.
And parents have widely signaled that they sure as fuck can't be assed to do 1, so the world must suffer.

they COULD be assed, on paper, and you could be the one to ass them, if you talk to any parents personally

>remember it's in the tech companies
Specifically those focused on social networks like Facebook and Twitter because the current laws make them responsible for every failure to identify minors and restrict their access. With age verification laws at the OS level, the responsability is transferred to other companies and Zuckerberg can wash his hands and say that it's the OS' fault for reporting the wrong age.
They ade doing the same thing in other countries, btw: https://tboteproject.com/

At the risk of outing myself as a hypocrite since I, too, have complained about parents not supervising their kids, it has suddenly occurred to me that what we're experiencing isn't unique. Every generation, once it reaches adulthood, talks about all the shit they got away with that their parents would have killed them for doing and simultaneously bemoaning the loss of freedom, adventure, or toughness that subsequent generations are experiencing. It's a more fondly nostalgic version of the uphill both ways to school mentality. We have simply reached the point that the worryworts have gotten to worrying about children's unrestrained access to the web, just as they formerly fretted over unsupervised excursions to the local playground, creek, etc.
This may be a more disheartening realization to you, because it takes on an aura of inevitability when framed that way.

I've had similar thoughts, and I don't necessarily disagree with your take, it's just sad because it represents the true beginning of the end of the fun, wild west, endless possibilities version of the internet I grew up with and the decisive victory of the people that want to make it lame and gay highly restricted and regulated corporate space. It won't end here either, if they score an easy victory with this they will crack down even more.
>>
>>24221576
you're retarded. This about attaching your physical ID to the things you do on the internet. Nobody involved in this gives a fuck about children. I don't have to give my DOB, postal code, and name to go to the creek just because Karen doesn't want her kid to play doctor in the woods.
>>
>>24221584
Can't argue with you there, but such is the fate of any bleeding edge. Hell, the Wild West as we know it and mythologize it today lasted maybe a decade, so I'd say we had a pretty good run. The good news is that the pioneer spirit is irrepressible, and when one frontier closes they simply seek out a new one. Hopefully it will be one we can enjoy.
>>

>Hell, the Wild West as we know it and mythologize it today lasted maybe a decade, so I'd say we had a pretty good run

but it's still at the introductory stage, u can track it on that website
there's a whole lot of completely ridiculous bullshit which gets proposed but never goes anywhere
the push for age verification does seem to be global & sudden, though, and i bet this will be like the patriot act where they try it over and over until the public submits
it's just a matter of timeframe & other details

Other sites have freaks like this too, it's just that 4chan makes ban evasion very easy for them and the schizos spend all their free time here, so dealing with them is a sisyphean task, no sane person is going to sit all day in a thread just so they can deal with the same mentally ill individual.
Futaba has lots of similar retards too, you have samefagging monkeys that shit up multiple threads at a time until they get humiliated by having their ID revealed, then they just leave said threads, wait a few hours and start over. You can't even make threads for certain topics/series there, because retards that are obsessed with seething about them will use scripts/bots to spam them with copypasted posts until they hit the 1k post limit. 5ch is even worse in that aspect, completely dead shithole with nothing but deranged individuals and bots.
>>
>>24221966
Recurring shitters already try hard enough to "own" threads, especially fucking with the OP in generals/followups to draw more attention to themselves. Giving them power to actually mod threads they make would be such a horrible idea.
>>
>>24222016
4chan should let you pay $5 to pick a post and slap a publicly-viewable ID on that post and every other post they've made in that thread. It would let you shame samefagger schizos and fund the website at the same time.
