the neighbors used to have a 230 foot zipline that ran into the far end of my yard and it was fun as fuck, but it was removed when the neighbor died and the house was renovated. i havent been on a trampoline in a long ass while.

its 1PM on a sunday and ive been doing IT shit for like, 6 hours now. Everything important now has a local DNS suffix (imagine accessing your printer by going to printer.home.net [but that suffix isnt actually what i use]) but on one of my servers i was dicking around with tailscale and somehow it broke cilium policy, or perhaps traefik

Local DNS namespaces actually bricked one of my servers to the point where it couldnt deploy and the solution was to have an empty DNS zone for the domain "cluster.local"
Holy hell what a strange nightmare it was to figure that out, it literally took me at least 5 fucking hours

the thing is, the fix wasnt configured on the server, it was configured on my firewall. Meaning, for some strange ungodly reason, cilium or possibly traefik, was attempting to resolve internal cluster namespaces via external DNS. Thats a clear issue since im testing a production deployment, and if we have a customer that has internal DNS, that means deployment is bound to fail.
