What do they mean by software falling in price? With what software is that happening? Everything is getting more expensive as far as I can tell, same as physical goods, or maybe even worse. People moving to subscriptions instead of one-time purchases as well.
Maybe they are counting free software, and that drags the average down? There are more quality free software now than 10-20 years ago, that's at least true.

Hardware is also better. I don't know why you're confused by this.
The average TV in 1950 was $400 - $500 for a Black & White TV with a 12" to 21" display. I bought a 55" flatscreen, colored/HDR, 4k Smart TV with hundreds of free channels and free software apps last year for $120.
Even look at your old smartphone and compare it to your new one if it's at least 5 - 6 years older. Or even your first smartphone. My first smartphone was $200 and it came with 1gb of DDR2 RAM and 8gb of storage. The smartphone I just bought last year for $500 has 8gb of DDR5 RAM and 256gb of storage. Not even going into the details like screen size, pixel density, Bluetooth, antenna power, apps, battery/charging, CPU, etc. I paid 2x the price but got 8x the RAM and 32x the storage capacity.

It's just Baumol's cost disease. If you have an answer for automation (higher productivity over time thus making products cheaper) vs. human labor (same productivity over time but still increasing wages to remain competitive) then you should share it instead of being a low IQ Muslim
