Does anyone know where I can go to look up the price of an actual, physical barrel of oil right now? I want to see this gap I keep hearing about between futures and physical but Google is being unhelpful to a frankly suspicious degree

Gold prices still arent back to prices before the war thats fair enough. But you'd think there would be some lead given to gold stocks given the uncertainty.
The favoritism to regular stocks is bizarre, they didnt even drop that heavily during the downturn. Just protected all round, not allowed to fail

A VLCC can load 2 million barrels.
The US is currently producing 4 million barrels per day for export
It takes an extra 30 days of transit for oil from the US instead of Hormuz to reach Asia
There are 60 VLCCs headed towards the US

Your source is my shitsmeared broken anus. Gold rebounds first in a crash and outperforms stocks. He's talking about mining stocks, not the commodity. Considering 30-50% of operational costs in a mining company is energy costs, an oil shock is not bullish for the miners to say the least.

to re-emphasize my point, that sucks for them. USA relationshiip with the world already abyssmal might as well make some money.
At 4MM / bbl / day we fill 14 VLCCs in a week, rest queue like any port.
Also coping something comes out of that fuckin venezuela move and oil can move out from there too.

per Claudechud investigation to explain this:
>Average short-term borrowings rose from $3.02B (2024) to $4.73B (2025) — a 57% year-over-year increase in average daily wholesale funding
Peak month-end balance of $6.31 billion during 2025
Year-end 2025 balance scrubbed down to only $700 million — a $5.6 billion reduction from the intra-year peak for reporting purposes
>2. Zions Bancorporation — Second-Most-Likely Contributor
Zions showed the same pattern as Fifth Third but at smaller scale:
Average FHLB borrowings doubled from $1.67B to $3.84B year-over-year
Peak month-end balance of $5.5B during 2025
Year-end scrubbed down to $2.0B — a $3.5B drawdown in the final weeks of the year
Pledged collateral at Fed and FHLB grew to $43.2 billion
Built $18.4B in Fed discount window capacity (up from $17.7B)
Total contingent liquidity buildup to $41.7B+
October 2025 fraud disclosures ($110M combined) and classified loans tripling from 1.66% to 4.82%
>3.Flagstar Bank / Flagstar Financial — Most Structurally Fragile but Already Resolved
Flagstar is in the worst absolute condition of any bank we analyzed, but their acute crisis was 2023-2024, not 2025:
Deep junk credit ratings: Moody's B1, Fitch BB — five notches below investment grade at Moody's
$9.87 billion in deposit flight during 2025 (13% decline)
Cash at Fed dropped from $15.0B to $5.3B — 65% reduction in one year
Brokered deposits collapsed 77% from $10.22B to $2.40B
Still reporting $210M annual losses
$29 billion residual multi-family NYC rent-regulated exposure
Entirely dependent on FHLB ($11.15B of $12.18B total borrowings) because no one else will fund them cheaply
$2.5B in FHLB advances prepaid in December 2025
The GSE custodial waiver alone places them in a category nothing else in our analysis approaches. This is a bank operating with an acknowledged inability to meet standard counterparty requirements, relying on discretionary accommodations from third parties.
>>
>>62119761
Sorry first one got cut off:
1. Fifth Third Bancorp — Highest Probability Contributor to the H.8 Signal
Fifth Third is the single best match for the specific anomaly we were tracking in line 37 and line 31 of the H.8 release. The critical evidence:
Average short-term borrowings rose from $3.02B (2024) to $4.73B (2025) — a 57% year-over-year increase in average daily wholesale funding
Peak month-end balance of $6.31 billion during 2025
Year-end 2025 balance scrubbed down to only $700 million — a $5.6 billion reduction from the intra-year peak for reporting purposes
FHLB advances specifically dropped from $4.1B at year-end 2024 to $300M at year-end 2025, but averaged much higher during the year
At $214 billion in assets, Fifth Third is large enough that its funding shifts meaningfully move the aggregate data
Their $1.7B year-over-year increase in average short-term borrowings alone accounts for about 15% of the total $11B H.8 line 31 spike we identified
Deposits averaged $2.2B lower in 2025 than 2024, replaced almost exactly by increased wholesale borrowings
None of this was flagged in their public narrative, which emphasized solid earnings and capital strength

New to investing, what's the idea catching flavor of the day? It seems like quantum was all the rave yesterday but how do people catch that so quickly? Do I just eye the volume and if I see a steady increase do I all in then sell at the end of the day?

4 weeks to fill the tankers currently diverted from the Hormuz and the trip from the US back to Asia adds 30 days of transit. If the strait opens tomorrow that still leaves a big gap in Asia's supply. An open strait doesn't automatically revert to pre-war traffic, the ships aren't there
Venezuela's oil goes to Texas to be refined I believe

I still think they're oversold compared to the rest of the market. Even in Australia, we've already had statements of guarantees on fuel for miners. They'll let the npcyim suffer at the bowser before any big business gets into trouble.

The problems is basically PM's are inverse of oil and miners loosely follow the price action of PM's so it has little to do with operating costs from oil. The reason PM's are inverse of oil is the metals are sold for liquidity due to high oil. High oil can't go on forever so the miners and PM's will recover.

Ok I have it figured out now Mr Mumu.
Private credit problems have been massively understanded and we are essentially going through multiple 2008 level bail outs under the table, which is why we needed this pump.
Many regional banks are being rescued behind the scenes with FHLB funding (what Silicon used) and have been since October when we should have crashed.
The scale of the problem is much greater than this though, which is why there has been zero repo usage to prevent a panic.
Like Silicon they are getting creative with ways to try and find liquidity without alerting anyone.

yes buy every deep otm put on semiconductors you can and do long leveraged calls on oil. take out loans, sell your home, ask your friends for loans, rob banks, etc. you will be filthy rich when semiconductor industry evaporates overnight, ww3 breaks out and you stand for delivery on physical barrels of oil (you'll need at least several thousand gallons to make it).

Each day at open it DUMPS during the highest volume hours to take advantage of Mr. Donalds Communist state sponsored buying.
This going into the historic pump for the same reason.

It's going to be a kill shot to European influence if something significant comes out of Lebanon-US-Israel engagement while deliberately snubbing the French. And the consequences for Europe will be seismic if Trump pulls off something diplomatic with Iran.
>>
So, it's very straightforward. Now that SPY is back at its ATH from Feb 2, ask yourself. Is your portfolio higher or lower than it was Feb 2? If your answer is lower, then congratulations, you're retarded and suck at trading. I would recommend you hang your trading hat up, full port VT and chill. If you disagree with this assessment, please articulate why the market was wrong and you were right (even though you lost money) and how things will definitely be different going forward, even though you refuse to change your losing strategy.
>>
>>62120008
But do you really believe that the US-Israel axis is likely to come away with a market-friendly solution to either of those? Israel and the US just want to bulldoze Lebanese villages to make way for more Haredi settlements, and the best possible situation for them in Iran seems to be a repeat of the Obama administration's deal. In fact, it looks as if Trump would settle for a lot less.

Beirut has zero authority in the south. If they were able to disarm Hezbollah, they would have done it years ago when they agreed to Israel's demands. As it stands, Merkavas are exploding in Shia territory while the Lebanese Armed Forces garrison buildings on the Syrian border.

You do know the situation today is vastly different, right? Syria is not helping Hezbollah anymore like it did during Assad. And if Hezbollah had as tight of a control as you claim over the Lebanese government, none of this would've proceeded in the first place. You are familiar with changing conditions and how we live in linear time and the conditions of today are static forever?

What are Hamas and Hezbollah even doing? Their resistance is so laughable they might as well just do nothing. At this point they are just a controlled opposition by Israel so it has a justification to grab all the land inhabited by non-jews around them. How much worse at fighting can they be than the Taliban?
Israel knows everything, infiltrates their fuckin beepers or manipulated their batteries yet when they are about to go do a raid Israel sleeps, sure lmao.

Look at this shit, that's neither war nor resistance, that's not worth the hazzle, it does nothing but justifies Israel attacking everybody around them.
Taliban manages to kill more soldiers, while two retarded resistance organizations can't kill more civilians (it seems like they don't distinct, so you can see them as equivalent to soldiers)

Possibly, though I'd like to get some financial cusion and DIPS cash. Weirdly enough I don't mind portfolio going down that much, but not taking advantage of lower price of admission feels pretty bad, though I wouldn't expect gold to get much lower and possibly quite soaring if all the information about national banks hoarding gold and USD being weakened and ceasing to be the global reserve currency being correct.

Few days ago I had peak german situation.
About to cross a street (with cars) with lights. On the way to the crossing there is a bike lane on the pavement which people have to walk over/cross to get to the lights as it is parallel to the street with cars but on the pavement. One of the people behind me standing on the lane looking back to the right talking to others, away from the direction a bike would be allowed to come. From the left a blonde german woman (maybe 40-45) driving her bike without slowing down passing the guy and loudly complaing while driving past him and the others. Forgot what she said though. Guy shouts back "you could have used your bell".
I was itching so bad to tell them this was a peak german situation, but they were all german except me, so I didn't. But I laughed internally at this unnecessarily risky maneuvre of the woman on the bike and her getting mad while also not being fully equipped or at least doing what would have been appropriate in this situation (slowing down or RINGING THE BELL) and her not caring that at this part of the bikelane there are a lot of people going to cross it to reach the lights.
You just know this woman would have been a member of the party.
