It’s literally like portable steak. Steak without grilling you can devour anywhere.

most jerky is way too tough, dry and papery though.
the best jerky is when its a little bit soft.

This stuff was always too expensive and now it’s almost doubled in price the past few months
>>
>>22048077
I love jerky but as >>22048210 said they overpriced it way too much when it is just dried meat with some spice on top, people made them at home all the time in the old world and some still do.
It feels like a scam at times
>>
thinly veiled attempt to get people to recommend you good jerky

Yea it’s like 16 a bag at Wally World now

I agree. The chile one is good too. 20 bucks for a bag here though. Have to poor out on sweet baby rays.

>like my steak rare, cold, chewy
>like my jerky crisp, dry, chewy
it's the same animal. maybe one day i'll put a whole steak in the dehydrator
>>
>that'll be $15 for a 3oz bag

why does factory jerky all look so fake
>>

Just make biltong. Its pretty easy. Recipes online.

The problem is that it's survival food delicious enough and sold as a snack

You want to devour it, but it's six to ten dollars for a little bag that's mostly air and you're supposed to slowly nibble a couple pieces and then put it back for another emergency

This stuff desiccates the body. Eating too much of it will literally mummify you, like Sokushinbutsu.

It’s all lean quality protein

The ingredient list on modern store-bought ones is as long as the old testament.

Is that a good brand?

I like the Bridgford brand jerky, I don't know if it's sold everywhere, but it's made near me and is one of the better bagged jerkies I have had
>>
>>22052616
I use to order their slab jerky all the time until they discontinued & replaced it with a chopped & formed patty. Friendship ended with TCS.

Luckily some anon came in and recommended me a replacement.

Invite you to try pickled sausage. It's sausage you can eat anytime without refridgeration and they last for months.
>>
>>22052642
they have really good smoked sausages
>>
>>22048129
where are you buying your jerky? literally every widely available brand is full of nitrates and over hydrated.
>>22048342
the price would almost be justified if it was real jerky. pound of beef jerky takes at least 2 pounds of raw meat. packaging costs balance out savings from scale, and they need to make some money.

She is so happy

Can someone explain the mummification fetish to me? I find it really baffling.
>>

Archer mango-habanero is the GOAT beef jerky.
>>
>>22050503
I actually find that advantageous, because I always have to wake up in the middle of the night with a painfully swollen bladder. If I eat a big pile of jerky before bed, I can get a full night of sleep.

Steak isn't supposed to be dry.

This doesn't even legally qualify as food in most other countries

Anyone who says this when talking about food is lame and gay

Jerky is way too expensive right now. I want to have a bad at home all the time but its just not worth it.
>>
>Discover Beef Thins

Anyone who says this when talking about food is poor and a failure

I could by a hundred bags of jerky, that doesn't mean it's a smart use of money.
Just like how (YOU) can afford to suck off homeless hookers every night doesn't mean that it's a good use of your limited government provided income.
