If i was served a vertically sliced pineapple I'd find the chef and strangle him with my bear hands. I think its a potato. It's definitely not pineapple bc you would see the core which is markedly lighter in color than the flesh. Also leaving the core in is not common practice since its less flavorful and much harder than the flesh
