>>4033312 op picture reminded me of a memory I'd forgotten, wasn't a teddy bear it was a blanket but I wouldn't go anywhere without it when I was really little, including but not limited to church, airplane flights, car rides, shopping, we moved and it got left behind and the person who bought our house found it and called us and offered to bring it back at which point my parents said I needed to lose my attachment to it and said no, glad they did.
>>4033483 Them being third year middle schoolers is a fundamental part of the plot. There's a whole arc about the kids trying to get in to their high schools. And Nagisa gaining the courage to rebuke the life plan his mother had set for him and figuring out what he wants to do, including for high school, is a major part of his character arc.
>>4033490 huh, thought it was they were high schoolers and it was which university they wanted to go to, thought the high school they were in was already prodigious and their principal was the stereotypical evil piece of shit trying to separate the e class from the good students because they were bad for his school's reputation
>>4033493 The second part is true, but as a middle school instead of a high school. That's why the 3E students' parents are willing to tolerate the abuse of their children. They're all high strung tiger parents who see their kids as ungrateful fuckups who don't appreciate the effort their parents put in to send them to an elite school. And they see the carrot of allowing maybe one 3E kid a year to return to the regular campus and be guaranteed a spot in the associated prestigious high school as a legitimate goal to pressure their kids in to. It's a very fitting framing of parent/society vs child social dynamics for young teens, especially boys. That's the age when the patience and unconditional love adults feel towards children begins to rapidly weaken, making those children feel abandoned and even hated. A framing like this wouldn't work as well for older teens, who are simultaneously treated with slightly more respect than young teens and have had time to get used to the colder treatment by the adults in their lives.
>>4033499 I hate his mom and the way that was handled so much it's fucking unreal. As usual, when it happens to boys, it's played of as not being that big a deal and a >hey bro, why aren't you laughing? type situation.
>>4033500 I thought it was handled pretty well. There are times when his situation is played for comedy, which is an unavoidable consequence of Matsui starting his career as an assistant on Bobobo and being a gag mangaka at heart. He's even more extreme with this in nigewaka, frequently turning the horrors of war into dark humor. And he's pretty even handed about it. Bitch-sensei in particular is a full blown joke character in spite of her tragic background. And in nigewaka both Mima and Natsu have jokes about their difficult lives made at their expense. If anything, he's actually slightly more respectful of boys. In Nagisa's case the jokes are used to make the audience feel bad for effectively taking part in his abuse once the details of it are revealed. And he did something similar with Tokiyuki. And that reveal is taken very seriously. His mother is treated as being completely unreasonable and wrong and Nagisa's resultant trauma is treated as very legitimate and damaging. In particular, the "learning to read people's emotional states and erase your own presence to avoid upsetting them" thing is such an accurate and relatable shounenification of how it is to deal with shitty parents that Matsui must have either personally experienced it himself or be very close to someone who has. My dad wasn't even a tenth as bad as Nagisa's mom and it still made me hypervigilant and self effacing.
>>4033508 Don't think everyone handles that the same way about "learning to read people's emotional states and erase your own presence to avoid upsetting them" I got a very similar treatment and instead of learning to minimize upsetting people I learned to not give a shit and be unapologetic in upsetting people. What I took away from it is "you deserve everything you tolerate" so in school whenever someone did anything that I didn't like, they got a broken nose. I didn't go around punching kids out or anything, I wasn't a bully, I only ever got in 3 fights and that was enough that everyone in school knew not to fuck with me because of how I handled it.
>>4033589 I stopped watching the anime and haven't read the manga, but I don't like him standing in that doorway, it makes me think this is the doorway the real tsukasa doesn't come back from after going through
>>4033608 I wonder why there is so much Earthbound/Mother fanfic, neither the concept art nor the game sprites are cute, but shotacons are obsessed with them. Do they behave cute in the game or what?
>>4033336 >>4033330 >>4033352 Imagine being a cute pokeboy and dating a another cute pokeboy and train together and tag team double battles (we win because I play support Incineroar) and going on adventures while taking down evil organizations and making out in front of our pokemon.
>>4033652 Smash autism even though they look worse there. Its why most of fanfic is horribly ooc. Personally I quite liked mother 3 though, Lucas is cute to me even his sprite.
>>4033652 I got distracted and never went back to beat it (common problem of mine not specific to this game). But I was playing Earthbound and beating up some moles in a cave when Ness got homesick and could barely fight until he called his mom. One of the cutest things I've ever seen in a video game. And I think his sprite is reasonably cute for the low level of detail. He even has the fuzzy pickles sprite, which is also a cute bit of characterization since he's the only one that poses. When people talk about the writing in those games everyone focuses on the quirky dialogue. But I think the overall story and the events that happen are as or more important. The part in the blacked out mall created such a vivid image in my mind that the sprites barely even mattered anymore. And it got me really emotionally invested in the game. I'm not at all surprised that these games generate a lot of fan works. They leave a very strong impression.
>>4033674 That's a nice consolation prize. But lucky would be living to see the sho do that. And also kissing him instead of that stupid girl. >>4033677 >>4033678 But there are shos in the universe. To save the universe is to protect boys.
>>4033679 This. What kind of shotacon would want the universe to dissappear, that would mean shos would cease to exist and the thought of that makes me sick.
>>4033652 Lucas and Claus do have very cute personalities. Ness doesn't have much of a personality but the art style is simplistic enough that you can interpret them any way you want in fanart. Something i find kind of funny is that i think Ness is supposed to be chubby at the beginning since a cop calls him fat and they mention he lost a lot of weight at the end of the game or maybe it was just a funny line that wasn't meant to be taken seriously who knows.
>>4033680 >starts out drawing normal shotas with a slight preference for muscle >goes from normal kemonomimi to full blown furries >human characters are now all super drak tanned, bara muscled, and borderline mob faced I've seen this happen enough times to consider it a pattern. And I wonder what causes it.
Thank you >>4033744 , anon. I was going to do it, I just wanted to post the images first.
I'm still going to do it because it's my thread and it's probably the greatest contribution I'll ever make to humanity. NEW >>4033740 >>4033740 >>4033740
