Not Millie, but taking a look myself it seems like artists just not knowing how to tag for ships rather than something nefarious. I can forgive simple ignorance, but it's kind of a shame how the perfect fandom etiquette we had back in the early 2000's is just completely gone now. I know it's silly to be bothered by this, but even fujoships top/bottom name order isn't followed anymore

They're always fighting. Hardcore shippers on both sides are overly sensitive imo, but I doubt it's because of a fight. It's probably just people not bothering to properly tag or not caring. I'm a titty baby for getting triggered by it, but at the same time I know people get triggered by incest and lolisho, so I adequately tag. That way people don't have to get the ick while scrolling. I'm old enough to remember how careful people were about tagging back in the day, and how people lurked to read the room before posting all willy nilly.

As an aside, I'm less versed in modern fujo shipping (I haven't had a fujo or hime ship since the mid 2010s), but I feel like instead of having proper tags for top/bottom we're out here making up half a dozen AU tags like 'Murdermedia' or 'Cannibalstatic'. Hell, I don't even remember people coming up with cutesy ass names back in the day. It would have been just Vox/Al or Al/Vox depending. Like, if I WAS into fujo content, what the fuck am I supposed to glean from Murdermedia? I can't tell who's pitching and who's catching lol.

It wasn't really a thing back in the day IIRC, this is a weird modern phenomenon that seems especially prevalent in this fandom. I'm in two minds about it as I do find the naming conventions of the Hazbin fandom very cute, though it veers off into the confusing at times, like

I wouldn't mind the ship names so much if they gave me a clear indication of who's who. Charlastor, Chaggie, and Huskerdust are fine, I remember back in the olden days people used to combine names if a ship was to have any name at all (Twilight flashbacks). I thought that RadioBelle was more of an East Asian thing, since I NEVER saw it in the Western fandom until very recently. Ships like RadioSmile had me pausing to think about who the hell 'smile' was supposed to be because that's Alastor's trait, I legitimately thought it was selfcest at first. I don't care for the Heaven set of characters, so outside of Al/Emily I have absolutely no idea what's what.

Pretty much this. RS has a billion different names, and if we're discussing it in general I'm not picky, but if I've gone to the trouble of filtering all 68 (that is not an exaggerated number) versions of a ship name I'm going to be annoyed if I see untagged porn if it. We all have to share a space, 99.9% of fujos don't want to see my yumeslop on their feeds so I try to be respectful with tagging.

Idk why Alastor x Emily has so many names, there were legitimately like 2 artists drawing it before season 2. I guess it was so scarce that everyone kind of just made up their own. There’s also Angelicsmile, which kind of makes more sense but it’s pretty vague too. Radiojoy is the best I think, but joy is still kind of vague… it’s hard when characters aren’t as heavily associated with one thing. Radio is pretty obvious if you’re into Hazbin at all, there are no other characters who are associated with that. Some things make no sense, spear for lute when she doesn’t even use a spear? A lot of them come from fanon as well, it must be hell for new fans.

It’s kind of become a dumping ground for any cute ideas I have… I don’t really have an idea for an ending, but I think it’s mostly run its course. They got together, they healed Alastor’s chest wound, they slept together, they moved in together. In terms of their relationship, there isn’t much more to do. It’ll probably continue until I run out of ideas, or get bored. I’d like to go back to the love letters idea though.

Deer dreams are the best. I haven't had one in a while, but I got back yesterday and added merch to my shelves, and did some writing, and saw some irl deer as well, so my brain was pretty much nothing but deer when I went to bed.

It's my first big con in the US, but it has a good track record of Hazbin artists showing up, unlike the NOLA cons. So hopefully it'll be fun. That said I'll be going primarily to meet some other former /hhg/ posters if they can make it. I've been too merchpilled myself. I should take a break after this month, but the call of the deer is too strong.

I've heard of people sneakily opening the blind boxes until they find the one they're looking for. It's justified in my opinion, it's a shitty way to do merch. I considered opening the blind pin packages, but it would be difficult to do in a sneaky way since they're glued at the bottom. Alastor stuff sells out super fast. I initially went in for his 'oh deer' pin, but they were predictably nowhere to be found. I'm actually surprised they had the human Al shirt because it usually sells out quickly. I didn't even see the phone buddies anywhere, I'm assuming they were all gone. I mean they didn't even have the Alastor badges, and I wasn't the only one there digging for them. I might try the other local Hot Topic where traffic is slower. And I'll admit I might have missed something while tard wrangling a toddler in a store full of shiny objects lol.
I don't know why A24/Amazon hasn't done something with HMV, since they seem to have all of the pop culture stuff. I know it's not the most lucrative on the high street anymore, but they do carry the Hazbin vinyl.

I know they put the phone buddies on preorder online, they seem like they were more popular. I was considering just doing a big order, or seeing if anyone wants to go in on a group order. I'm fairly sure I could get my money back by reselling since no one has them over here, but I'd still be devastated if I did that and still didn't end up with Alastor.
I haven't been into a physical HMV store in years, looking online they seem to have the vinyls, Youtooz, Funko Pops and the rubber ducks. Which is fine I guess, but nothing I can't get several other places. (and honestly I'm not fond of any of them) Though I did a little research this morning and I found out that From Japan has a service that allows you to buy from US Mercari. I'll have to look into it more but it has to be better than paying literally 4-5 times the original price from ebay scalpers.

The last HMV I went in was the one on Oxford Street, but it was around Christmas and overly crowded. I'll go to Foop in Seven Dials because they do have a nice selection of obscure horror films, but I'm still reticent to buy much because the BBFC loves their censorship lol. Forbidden Planet would be a good place to sell merch as well. I feel like Amazon is missing an opportunity here, because it's not like Europe has no fans. If the UK is able to host a successful fan convention it deserves a bone tossed its way ffs. I feel like the UK gets the merch that nobody over here wants.

Forbbiden Planet has the same sort of things, but I think they had some of the Banpresto figures and the nendoroid as well. But again, I couldn't speak to what they have in stores. I don't understand why I can order some of the things from US Amazon, paying a couple of pounds extra shipping, but they're not available at all on the UK Amazon. Or the big plushie I ordered from there is now on UK Amazon, but it's double the price. It's fair enough that they don't have big official panels over here, it's probably a pain in the ass and incredibly expensive for everyone to fly over. But MCM London has a similar number of attendees to LVL UP, I don't think a merch stand would be completely outrageous. Buying from the official store already costs us a stupid amount in shipping, I doubt anyone would complain if it cost a bit extra. I know I'm being salty about this, but it's depressing getting literally nothing, and having to pay a fortune for everyone else's leftovers.
On the plus side, there's another Hazbin doujin event in a couple of days in Japan, so all the Japanese artists I follow are posting loads of lovely art.

Nah, salty is a perfectly valid emotion. On the topic of doujin, I'm presently really frustrated with the UK in the wake of the lolisho artist getting arrested. While I can't say I approve of what he was saving/drawing after looking into it, it does set a bad precedent for fandom if the government starts to police fiction. I went to London's first doujin convention last year and I remember it having a good turnout with lots of Japanese artists attending. Now they're reluctant to return to the UK because there's no clear guidelines on what is or isn't illegal. It's still not as bad as Australia sentencing a woman for literotica (tfw I would be arrested in Australia for CSAM over an AO3 smut fic). I feel like as other anglosphere countries crack down on stuff like this companies are going to be less likely to enter the market or ship to them. I can see doujin retailers refusing to ship to UK addresses soon. It's all incredibly frustrating.

From what I've heard, she had some fairly extreme stuff, but being arrested over some drawings that harm no one when there are real cases of people being harmed irl that go uninvestigated is also pretty bad. Other than that it's mostly a whole lot of opinions and shit-flinging and misinformation. I really hope it doesn't make it harder to get doujins. Extreme puts it mildly to be honest, and that's coming from someone who enjoys lolisho. I can't really stand behind what they were engaging with outside of the basic 'no victim no crime' stance. Putting public funds towards investigating a person over drawings as opposed to going after actual predators is never a good look. My concern is how vague the police are being. The UK historically institutes obscenity laws that have this grey area that makes it hard to know if you're going to run afoul of the law. A good example would be the Video Nasties moral panic where the DPP wouldn't give guidelines on what was and wasn't illegal. Rental shops got raided, people were arrested for having horror VHS tapes... So eventually European and American VHS distributors just said 'yeah, fuck the Brits' and withdrew their tapes from circulation, something that nearly crashed the rental market during its height, since horror was the best selling genre. Even here in the US certain anime distributors are withdrawing from Texas because of the lolisho bans, since the legislature is so vague. I hope that things get cleared up soon and we're not going to end up with another moral panic over doujin and dakis. 99% of us aren't into this extreme stuff, and this this makes it harder for normal people to enjoy fandom.
But maybe I'm just being a doomer. We'll see.

I think the problem with that kind of threesome would be all the drama surrounded artists who draw the old design. I'm tired of rolling my eyes every time I see someone vaguepost about it, and the artists who draw it are fed up with being dragged for it. It would be awesome though.
He's lovely, I've wanted this pin for a while. Unfortunately the artist kind of left the fandom after being harassed, but she's posted a few Alastor doodles recently so I'm kind of hoping she'll come back... I get what you mean, that's kind of why I don't buy much human Al stuff. The curse of loving a popular character. It's also important to be able to grab what you like best when it comes out, because the deer tax is no joke.

It's annoying that artists have to put disclaimers over white Al art like that wasn't the universally agreed upon design that even Viv herself drew for half a decade. I've seen people describe it as the 'BlackGryph0n' AU, which is equally incorrect. Viv used this image for Alastor's audition sheet ffs. Harassment is one reason I'm sitting on making art accounts and going into the merch sphere. I'm skilled enough to do that now, and I have the means, but at the same time I'm a working mother who genuinely doesn't have time to deal with teenagers on Twitter. I've wasted enough time arguing on /hhg/ to know it's not good for one's mental health, especially when the /hhg/ stuff escalated to the point where people were being weird about my family. Hardly anyone speaks with sense anymore, be it the far left spaces like Bluesky/Reddit or the 'free speech'/alt-right platforms like the Farms. Everyone is retarded and I understand why artists dip. It's a shame though, we've lost so many good deer artists to the mob.

Something I've started seeing a lot of as well is people screeching about how the season 1 demon Al colouring was a mistake. Well, why didn't everyone else drastically change colour as well? Iirc it was only Alastor, and the two seraphim whose skin colour changed. That feels more racist to me than drawing a character the way he was drawn for years. Though these are also the people crying over a Sir Pentious cosplayer doing blackface when the cosplayer was actually wearing dark blue facepaint, so yeah...
I really think it depends, an artist who made a fan card for LVL UP put the leftovers on their etsy last night and ended up getting abuse because it literally sold out in two minutes. People are getting so entitled, and so brazen to insult artists just because they missed out on getting something they wanted. Feeling disappointed is fine, but actually sending threats to the artist is disgusting behaviour. There's also the ship hate, I've seen people who said they've been harassed because they won't draw a certain ship that they don't like. I don't blame you for being hesitant, any amount of success and the reward is dealing with crazies.

Genuine racism is different all together, but at this point I don't know how one could love Al and be genuinely racist. I understand having racialized banter, but you're usually able to tell when someone actually hates brown people as opposed to being edgy and taking the piss or someone having different political opinions. My tolerance for hating Alastor due to his race or orientation is very low, and I think that's probably true for most deer friends even if we joke around. I honestly think Viv and a lot of the more left leaning fandom are crypto racists because they're reducing Alastor to just his race, when for most of us here it's just a part of a what's a multifaceted individual. Every story line must acknowledge oppression or make it incredibly clear that he's brown. This is on top of them using racist Jim Crow era laws to shoot down people who call him what he is, mixed. It's very tiresome when for me his race is hardly something I think about because he's an individual.

Alastor's race could genuinely be an interesting part of his character. The way he managed to become a radio star at a time when it would be almost impossible for anyone who wasn't white. Or him fitting into a weird niche due to being dark skinned, but not dark enough. But no, everyone wants to reduce him to just being an oppressed poc character because slavery bad or whatever.

If handled correctly his race could definitely make for interesting character development, but nobody wants to focus on the aspects that could make a good story when they could get dopamine hits by virtue signaling. It makes me angry for the character because it takes him from being a component manipulator who holds his own to being a perpetual victim.

Yeah, the quality isn't the best. I've got other standees that are bigger and better quality, but cost half as much. I did moan to them since I had issues with the cards too. Even if I don't get a refund, it's one more complaint they have to deal with. If the human merch is as bad, I can see a lot of people not buying from them again.

It was a bit cheaper than any that are up right now on mercari or ebay, I could have waited and tried for a better deal but I think at this point, unless you get super lucky, it's only going to get more expensive. At this point, as long as everything goes smoothly, the only deer promo card I'll be missing is Pass The Popcorn.
I hope they take on board all the negative feedback. The human standees don't ship until June, hopefully that's enough time for them to sort out their quality control.

Hi /deer/. I had a nice time reading through this thread today. I don't have a Hazbin beloved, but you all seem very nice, and these threads make me wish at least some yume spaces online had the direction and etiquette that is present here. In the ones I've seen, at least on larger social media, everyone seems to be either so discourse-hungry or focused on one-upping each other that it makes me feel out of place and hesitant to engage with them. I'm not an artist but it seems obvious to me that even if the same person draws the same image, the measurements are going to be slightly different. Did they want it traced from the show? The deer guides us through all of life's hardships. Knowing that I can go to sleep beside him, and wake up beside him makes everything a bit easier. It sure is weird writing a Hazbin fic and not having him in it though. I'm glad I have at least one fic with a solid endpoint in mind. Well that perfectly encapsulates the duality of deer... They're cute. I have a bunch of cards on the way, yes. I'm only really after the ones with Alastor on them, and Pass The Popcorn is the only one left. (even if he's turned away on it) I also managed to get a really good deal on a Human Alastor foil and Turf War OC last night. The only other Alastor related card I need now is the season 1 Alastor card. I can't really justify getting that right now though. I also got a good deal on a Valentine's playmat because it had some stains from being in storage. I literally just handwashed it and it's fine, so I am very happy right now.
I'm exactly the same, that's why it took me so long to finish the last chapter of the DD fic. In the end I forced myself because the exam revision anxiety was starting to overtake the procrastination anxiety.

That's how I managed to get good deals for the rest, I basically sat on ebay until they came up for cheap. I also compared it to Mercari, so I know they were good prices. It's doable, I just might have to wait until I make some more money over summer. Vinted has actually been good too, that's where I got those cards last night and the playmat. It's just a much smaller number of people who have merch, and it's usually more expensive because of the higher shipping we have to pay. This is the playmat, before I washed it. I love it. I'd love Mercari but I think the main issue is not being able to order from abroad on any of the sites without a proxy. Everyone is kind of segregated.
I change where I write based on where I feel comfortable at the time. Sometimes it's on my laptop in bed, sometimes on my desk, sometimes sat at my pc. It definitely helps if you're comfortable.
