I'm sure it does, at the end of the day there are always going to be people who prefer that version or are ok with both and like the look of the merch. Plus it's older and rarer, as most artists now will make merch of his canon design. It could work, but all it takes is a few bored kids to latch on and call them out for being "racist". I've seen so much Radiosilence hate recently, and I have to imagine that these people are going to be the ones crashing out and crying over "mischaracterisation" when Alastor isn't yearning for Vox all next season. Just write a fanfic at this point if you don't like how it's portrayed in the show, have fun with it but don't make shit up just for your ship. There's another interview going around where Amir says there'll be a callback to Stayed Gone and now they're all saying that the Sparks Duo print is obviously foreshadowing a happy past version of the song... Like, no? I honestly think that the most that'll happen is that Alastor started to have positive feelings towards Vox, like he did for the hotel in season 1, then got scared and coped by crushing Vox and denying their friendship. Perhaps Alastor will try to manipulate Vox again at some point and Vox won't react since he's come to appreciate the other Vees more than his past feelings for Alastor. The chances of Alastor revolving around Vox are pretty slim at this point, from the way things were set up at the end of season 2. Lucifer is another story, and we will have to wait and see how that plays out.

So, I suppose for discussion's sake, what are (you)r theories on why the human Alastor stuff still hasn't sold out? Viv and co. have subtly blamed racism, but I feel like the constant retcons and potential RA bait has started to turn people off to Al. I know just a few years ago his merch would sell out incredibly fast, now people are buying less and less. I find it extra interesting that her next batch of standees (the Japanese batch) are all much lighter in complexion. Now, this could just be manufacturing issues, but they do look substantially lighter. Some small part of me wonders if she regrets her retcons, considering how disastrous it's been for the Alastor fan community. Viv is retarded, but not entirely. She'll blame poor sales on racism, but maybe she's considered the fact that she's made the western community insufferable because 99% of Alastor commentary is race based instead of character based these days. And let's be honest, who the fuck what's to be surrounded by that.

Viv should take a lesson from Gooseworx, don't ruin your Tumblr sexyman. The fallout from tranny Jax has been both hilarious and incredibly pathetic. This is what happens when you get too big of an ego and make the most beloved character in your franchise share your fetish, be it fujo or trans. People check out.

You mean the standee? I mean, their merch model seems fucked in general, it was sold out at one point. I do wonder how they do the preorders, whether they up the numbers based on how much of something is selling or what. Of the Japanese merch, according to Marui’s twitter account, for the standees in the irl shop, human Al sold out first, followed by human Vox. Apparently the standees are darker irl, though it seems to be a thing with the manufacturer rather than lightening him specifically because they hate blacks. I’ve also heard people say that the other standees are in general lighter than the colours they are on the website. The artist who designed them also draws him with his canon skin colour. A lot of that outrage seems to be from loud westerners virtue signalling over merch we won’t get for a long while. I could be wrong, since there’s no way of telling until we get the merch ourselves, but I think the conspiracy over the evil racist Asians making him lighter on purpose is just that. More generally, pretty much everyone I’ve seen prefers his canon design. I’m sure there are a lot who don’t speak up because if you did say that you prefer the original design you’d just be called racist by the loudmouthed retards who want to cause problems over nothing. In terms of fan merch, from what I’ve seen of recent drops Alastor always sells out either first or just after Vox. Without real stats, I think it’s hard to say what’s really going on since social media is basically geared to be biased and show us a certain point of view anyway. I’d be interested to see where Viv has blamed racism for merch not selling out, since I haven’t seen anything like that and I would think if she did, certain people wouldn’t stfu about it. He's the most popular character who historically sells out fastest so they've prepared extra merch for him as a backlog. He sold out instantly after the initial release and has another batch ready. It's not really that deep....

So if they projected a certain number, but then after the initial buzz people saw that and decided that they don’t want to risk spending money on standees that could break as you’re putting them together, that could explain why they have a number still available on the site. Because most of the diehard fans who will take a chance anyway would probably buy it right away, because they know that these things sell out. Plus there’s the fact that with the blaster boxes, they put them up for preorder too after the initial sales. I've seen this from other nip accounts too. I think they just made extra stock of Alastor because he sells out so quickly. If anything this is further indication of his reign as best boy.

Now if it were the case that he wasn't selling as much, I'd chalk it up to him not having much to do in season 2 rather than his character design. Vox hogged the whole damn season while Alastor had one heavy episode and that's it.

Yeah, and from my own experience refreshing the Black Balloon website obsessively because I want them to restock that fucking cushion, whenever the extra stock of the standees sells out it’s always human Alastor and demon Alastor first. That’s definitely more indicative of the global demand, since it’s well publicised that they ship internationally. Vox merch has definitely seen a massive increase in sales since season 2, though his standee also sold out after Pentious’s (and really, there’s no way he’s anywhere near as popular as Vox or Alastor), plus the retro crt Vox shirts are still available in all sizes, and literally every TVfag seems to have one of them, lol.
