Gags to Riches was fun, I figured after Mr. Grouse bought a boat, he realized it was a prank and it was kind of fun to see the town play a prank on Luan and she enjoyed it.

Sole Searching was more fun to me, loved seeing Lynn and Leni get a story together and it was a good way to tie in shoes to fit both of them. It was a lot of fun.

Best Summer Ever was good. The first half would kind of itself makes for a good series finale the 2nd half does a good job of making a season finale. The first because it shows how much the town and everyone cares about Jack and how he's grown in to it. Then ends on a happy note. The 2nd half sets up that the show will change in a season 3/4 (really 2). Do feel a little bad for Alice with that ending, though. I wonder how the show would feel with them taking place in fall , winter. spring. Could have had a Christmas episode. But if it was a series finale, it wasn't bad. Will miss the show

Wylde Pak's second season ending on Sibling's Day just goes to show how blessed this show. This episode especially goes full circle with the entire series. I'm more than satisfied with things ending here. But I'll still be super happy if we get a third season!

I've always like how ever since Season 4 where the show started to focus less around Lincoln and became more of a ensemble show and started doing focus episodes around the sisters, the parents and other characters on the show, Lincoln will still appear in the episode title cards even when the episode isn't focused around him (or he doesn't even appear in them) he'll still appear in the title cards in created ways like a Hidden Mickey.

Well, it wasn't under ideal circumstances, that being I'm pretty hungover, but I finally got to watch yesterday's episodes. I just didn't want to miss another watchalong or semi-live premiere or whatever these threads are like the week before, always enjoy hanging out with you guys and don't want to waste any opportunities to do so and talk some TLH (and a little Wylde Pak too). Anway, here's my review:

These episodes, while kind of so-so, or maybe that's just my hangover talking, there was something I really appreciated about them: both of them were sister episodes. I commented the week before last how juiced I was about that Bed episode, how I felt like it was a truly back to basics essentialist example of what the show is at it's core and best, stripped of absolutely anything ancilliariy, one boy ten girls and their second floor sesame street. This week was I guess a sort continuation on that theme, with a solo sister episode and a Lynn and Leni episode, a sister combo we'd never seen before.

Speaking of the Luan episode, there was a...I wouldn't call it a resolution, but there was, I felt, a pretty big personal reveal in the climax. When Luan says pranks are her 'love-language' and that getting pranked makes her feel loved, I really felt it closed the circle on what was one of her most obnoxious personality traits and allows, at least me, to look at it in a new light. If it's really a foolish expression of love and affection and not something she does purely for a personal thrill, I'm a little softer about it, so in that sense, it was a very, very good episode for Luan's personal development, or at least as insight into her mind. I felt like it was meant to retroactively justfy her most insane moments, and maybe that was indeed the writer's intent, to correct any flanderization of that that might have happened over the seasons, but frankly, I respect it. It definitely works for me a lot better than her just being nuts. So I have to give a thumbs up to that.

Now, as for the Leni/Lynn episode, that was a rare pairing. Again, it's a sister episode featuring a pretty high tier pair of sisters, so even just sticking to their proper characterization meant there was never any doubt it was going to be at least okay. Leni was cute as always and we saw the return of Stern Fern, who I guess is now officially Lynn's nemesis. In some ways it was definitely a retread of that episode where Lynn's sneaking through the backrooms of the arena getting hunted by Fern so she could do the good luck ritual so her team would win, it was kind of a twist on that except with Leni instead of Lincoln as her partner. Leni definitely acquitted herself well this episode and proved how useful she can be as a partner character even in these Oceans Eleven style heist plots. That said, I would have liked Lynn to doubt herself more in the beginning, because that would have made the basketball chick's 'it's about what's in your heart' speech at the end land better. I never got the sense Lynn was doubting herself, just her equipment. That said, when Lynn's in the mascot costume and starry eyed while the basketball chick gives her a secret fistbumb, it's one of the CUTEST Lynn's I've EVER seen. Pure screengrab material, maybe I'll take one later. What a cutie. I was also kind of bemused the fact that there's no way that chick and Lynn wore the same size ever came up. I expected at least a throwaway line, like after she realized she had it in herself all along, Lynn would say 'I gave them to Leni. Besides, they didn't fit.' The Michael Jordan tribute tongue out shot was cool, as was the entire basketball action sequence. They weren't completely offbase with Leni's fashion thing either. Sneakers have become a HUGE fashion thing with women, young trendy women have started to collect them the way men do.

Anyway, nice little episode. I'd say it could have used more Lincoln but well, you know me, I can't get enough of him. It was nice to see a little more of the towns and the malls and I was gratified to see the return of Dana, I was juiced for that, plus two new qts: Lynn's shoe rival that trampolines over her to get them (very cute) and the girl in charge of putting away the team's used clothes (medium cute). Maybe there were a couple in the crowd of fans too but none of them jumped out and caught my eye, and good luck taking a screengrab of that one qt before the other one covers her up with her foam fiver, I tried like ten times and my reflexes just aren't sharp enough. At least I managed to grab this picture of Lynn, this is that cute face I was talking about. Oh yeah, and the return of running latina girl was cool too, that's a great background extra with a great design.

Well, those are my thoughts. Maybe I'll watch the episodes I missed later in the week so I'm caught up with you guys.

Oh yeah, and I finally got caught up with Wylde Pakk, the back of the season I hadn't watched yet. Really fucking awesome show. Without a doubt the best cartoon not just Nickelodeon but any of the networks have made since The Loud House. Excepting TLH it fucking vaults over the competition, it's so much better than stuff that I won't name to avoid creating animosity it's crazy, but my point is, really, really good. Highly impressive cartoon, truly excellent. You can tell some of the best the industry has to offer worked on it.

Well, I guess they really wanted to lay in the mixed family stuff in s1 and her presence would have just distracted from that. Personally I think they made the right call, especially since having her move in to town at the end of the first season creates new possibilities going forward. I think only having her appear in person in that first episode and having all her scenes be this big adventure makes Jack having such a high opinion of her so she becomes like this worship figure more plausible, like we only see her there and through the videochat as this Lara Croft chick having a bunch of crazy adventures before she finally shows up and is humanized as just his mom.

This is a pretty awesome selection, anon. Like I said in the other post I'm really excited for the game. I'm not sure how you add or design locations, if it helps there's some pretty good still shots for backgrounds of the mall and a lot of the stores in it in the newest season, the episode where Lola has to take an old man mall walking. Also, and I'm not sure how gamedev works so sorry if this comes across wrong, but there were these official Loud House flash games that were released that featured a lot of locations and they looked quite good, they were in the show's style. Off the top of my head the mall was one of them. Theose might be good to use as a reference point if you needed any.

In fact, the specific series I'm talking about were pretty damn good, I already waxed on them in an earlier thread at length so I won't do it again, but they felt like pretty premium experiences compared to your usual tie-in stuff. They were basically like Monkey Island if you've ever played that. To be fair though they also had their share of really terrible ones like 'make Geo jump over obstacles' etc.

I avoid official backgrounds because using official material can get you in trouble. Everything have to be heavily modified, like being upscale, to at least have an excuse. I do use the official renders as a basis, which includes the backgrounds, but I usually need to add extra elements.

I can't play this game. Renpy made an update to their engine in like mid 2020 that made it so that new Renpy stuff won't work on Windows 7 machines. Sure, kinda, because of the hair. I thought she'd turn out to be Sam's mom too because cafe owner where bands play seems like the kind of thing Sam's mom would do. But two things bring her down for me: she doesn't dress as cool as Sam, she's a little chunky, and she has a beak-style nose in contrast to Sam's cute button nose.
