New Titans advertising regular grown up Jon all this has been going on, quarantined in its own little corner, has made it clear from the beginning that this kid Jon was never going to stick around.
The worst part is adult Jon becoming Tomorrow Man and choosing to give kid Jon his childhood back is like the most decent, credible way to restore the dynamic that was ruined by Bendis and Didio.
Wasting it on this bait and switch feels so mean spirited

We know older Jon isn't going anywhere, but the Superman books take priority for Superman characters over whatever Titans does.
The other books just have to play catch-up to the new status quo.
Older Jon is obviously not going anywhere, specially not after being given the new identity of Tomorrow Man, it'll just take a while until other books start using that.
Younger Jon... I dunno about him, I don't see him being thrown back into the volcano, but I also find it hard to believe they'll just keep him around, feels tood good to be true, I want to BELIEVE DC finally realized their mistake and are going to keep him around, but I just don't have it in me to hope anymore, guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Best case scenario, we get to keep both Jons, one as Superboy and the other as Tomorrow Man, a kind of Supergirl and Power Girl scenario.

It is more unique and interesting than him just being the Gay/Lesser/Son of Superman, plus it's a pretty sweet look.
The fact that his face is covered and they can't draw him with the usual gay face probably helps lol

It's probably cope, but the fact that kid Jon is being included in an upcoming Supergirl kids book gives me some hope.
Like, DC should already know by now that Jon is objectively more valuable as a character as a kid than a young adult, even after he was aged up, his young version kept being used in other things, not his older one.
I know they can't get rid of the older one, since that's technically the one we've been following the most, but surely having 2 Jons could work, hell, the solicitations even already started calling young Jon just Jon, while the other one simply as Tomorrow Man, a "guest star", really feels like they're setting up Jon to get back his life.

I just think it's crazy that Jon went from Superboy to Superman to Tomorrow Man AND Superboy, while Kon is still just Superboy.
Ignoring any in-universe implications, it really shows who the biases of the writers, while Jon gets changed and developed and changed back, Kon just... kinda exists, even though he could use some new developments too.

I think that the fact that Krypto and Damian don't trust kid Jon is a pretty big hint that this isn't the real one or there's something wrong with him that will necessitate throwing him back into the volcano.
big Jon and Lois want little Jon to be real, they are willing to overlook any inconsistencies because of their guilt and shame over what happened
But Damian and Krypto aren't as emotionally compromised by the situation but still close enough to Jon to know there's something off.
Unless it's going to be an intentional subversion by Slott
Which I could see that happening with Damian. But not Krypto, since his movie is coming up
I just don't think this is meant to be permanent

>I think that the fact that Krypto and Damian don't trust kid Jon is a pretty big hint that this isn't the real one or there's something wrong with him that will necessitate throwing him back into the volcano.
No? Of course they don't fucking trust him, they'd be stupid to, it's just common sense, WE don't trust it. It's literally too good to be true, and shit like this has happened before.
Look at it from their perspective, older Jon disappeared a while ago, and then suddenly kid Jon comes back with help from a mysterious guy, again, they'd be stupid to just trust him.
Damian in particular is being portrayed as overly paranoid, and not in a good way, usually the kind of way that you portray someone preparing for a danger that isn't there.
Also, the upcoming issues are going to mainly focus on kid Jon, with Tomorrow Man delegated into a guest star.
Again, maybe it's just cope, but to me, it really feels like the endgame here is 2 Jons.

Also, the way the previous issue talked about Jon wasn't flattering at all, they KNOW Jon has a problem in his character, they're aware of how fucked up this all is.
Tomorrow Man relinquishing the role of "main Jon" to Superboy Jon would fit the narrative better and work as the obligatory sacrifice, instead of just saying
>"oh actually, the kid Jon is some evil demon or something and we just have to keep moving forward, so sorry but you're going back into the volcano lol"
I'm even more confident now that I've read the previous issues of this run, Slott writes these characters in a very blunt kind of way, I feel like this is something he'd definitely be with Jon.

I thought Jon grew up in some other rural town, don't remember which.
It honestly seems like they almost completely forgot about Jon's early years besides being friends with Damian, like remember Kathy?
I know an older guy like nu-Jo looking for friendship with a little girl would be weird, but I'm surprised they never even referenced her, or if they wanted to have some angst, make a story where Jon goes to meet her again after all these years and she doesn't even recognize him anymore, that should devastate him, but I guess he just doesn't even think about her anymore, even though he used to call her a lot back when he first moved to Metropolis.
Also, the way young Jon is written is kinda weird to me, I swear he wasn't this inexperienced and insecure before going into the volcano, but I honestly blame that on Slott not being super familiar with him, despite clearly wanting to write about him.

Slott needs to bring her back and make jon engage her again,is what bendis wanted before jon was hit with taylor's gay beam.

I just don't get the point of a Jon that's like... one year younger than Connor over one that fills an age group filled by no other Superman family members, is filled by a current Robin he's a great foil too, and currently there are characters like Irey West and Animal Man's daughter also in the age range. Like there's so clearly a next gen logically being built. Why aging up Jon was ever allowed, I have no goddamn idea. It can't just be the gay angle. I mean the unimaginative fucks couldn't see an 11 year old realizing he's bi or something?

>make jon engage her again
Not happening.
>Spoiler
Bendis never wanted Jon to hook up with Kathy. I don’t know why you keep making up posts to make it seem like Bendis was against aging up Jon when he was all for it. Bendis wanted Jon aged up to match his in-real-life adopted black son who was older.
The only woman Bendis wanted to hook Jon up was Saturn Girl. And that was only to push his shitty Legion book

>Why aging up Jon was ever allowed
Because
1). Dan Didio hates kid superheroes. He also hates superheroes having kids since it “aged up” the characters (nevermind Superman having an older son makes him look even older to people unaware of the age up process). But Didio has always hated kid characters. He is the same one that aged up Enzo on Reboot.
2) Bendis wanted Jon older to reflect his son IRL who was a teen. Nevermind this makes Conner’s weird but Bendis ain’t exactly known for his good planning. So Didio didn’t have to convince Bendis much to age up Jon. And even if Didio didn’t want Jon aged up, he would have still let Bendis do it because Didio and DC were convinced Bendis was their modern day Jack Kirby (Bendis is Coming)

>Best case scenario, we get to keep both Jons, one as Superboy and the other as Tomorrow Man
Best case scenario is all Jon Kent are erase from existence. We don’t need Superman gay son, in Gay Adult form or Gay Kid form.

He's pretty much the Jason of Superman: the writers absolutely hate them and want them to go away but they can't get rid of them because they both have bigger mainstream fanbases, and generate far more fan content than many of the other supposedly popular characters. No matter how much Jon is pushed, often at Kon's expense, he's never overtaken Kon in popularity.

Reading earlier issues makes me wonder if Slott even knows these two exist, or if he's just intentionally ignoring them like most people who'd rather just write about Jon.
Hell, he described the Kent household as "The apartment of Clark, Lois, and Jon", so I wonder if he actually doesn't know about them.
>>153248742
>fills an age group filled by no other Superman family members
Technically, there's these two, but it doesn't seem like anyone but PKJ want to write about them.
They were clearly meant to be replacement goldfish after Jon was aged up, but they haven't caught on.
Still hope they stick around and get acknowledged more tho, it'd be interesting to see how young Jon would react to them.

At least for the whole "Reign of the Superboys" event.
>>153249726
I agree, I think Slott thinks Jon was lost in the volcano earlier, which is why he's writing him so inexperienced and unsure of himself, he definitely wasn't like that when he left, if anything, he was the opposite at that point.

I did for years but Jerry Ordway (who created him) says he's based on someone he knew growing up. So no, he isn't "legally distinct Captain Strong to avoid the wrath of Popeye's syndicate" like some of us thought.
