I said it once and I'll say it again, Aang and Korra as characters parallel their own shows perfectly.

Aang came almost out of nowere, did a lot of amazing things, and left a great legacy, Korra had everything handled to her and managed to be so mediocre it ruined everything for years to come.

That was just Aang manifesting himself to play with his grandchildren

Aang and Korra are opposites in almost every way, and it was obviously done deliberately.
In particular, Aang had spiritual training and wisdom beyond his years even as a goofy kid. Korra was just a reckless brute.

Worse than that if the plot of the third Avatar series is anything to go by. Korra fucked up royal

I always thought it was lame the Avatar is apparently just better and stronger at bending than everyone else, on top of being able to learn all four.
I see why others like it because le shonen fightscenes, personally it always made their conflicts feel less earned. Like here Korra doesn’t win the race because she knows or trains more about airbending, she’s just the avatar so she always wins over the plebs.
I’d have preferred if they were more of a spiritual symbol of coexistence than “I am your god and you are just ants compared to me”. Iroh and Zuko showed there’s power to be found in just mixing the philosophies, rather than just being born with the highest powerlevel

I don't think that's the takeaway that the writers intended.

I mean, we see her do nothing but fuck up royally.
Hell, she opened the spirit portals. I'm pretty sure she knew about how spirits fucked up the world before doing it. I don't even think she had a good reason to do it other than it's what she wanted to do at that specific moment in time.

i really wonder how they are going to try and gaslight us in to believing how korra was actually not the worst avatar ever in the new show.

I think the thing about Korra causing the apocalypse is definitely a bait and switch.

But that's not what's going on. The Avatar is only capable of these things via the Avatar State, which is tapping into cosmic strength via invoking the Spirit of Light whilst also channeling every single past Avatar in order to pool together all that bending knowledge that, when combined, unleashes tremendous feats that dwarves other benders.
The Avatar still has to TRAIN and MASTER the Avatar State as well as their bending, and they can't use it willingly because if they get killed in it or the Avatar Spirit is harmed, it destroys all of the pooled knowledge.

Something something balance something

Maybe, but if its related to spirit fuckery then she still had a hand in that either way

They can use it on command when they master it. Its just always a gamble to not get punked while it is active and fuck up the chain

Worst avatar of all time. She also spent months whoring herself out and fighting in underground earth bender fighting pits. Even there she was regularly jobbing to nobodies.
