scottish people however are just people who live in scotland, and particularly in the highlands and islands while they'll absolutely call themselves scottish and there's no particular class or social barriers to scottish people (including "scots" people) from other parts of the country, the culture is much closer to its scandinavian forerunners and trading partners than it is to the lowland scots
