This is the single biggest mistake in the entirety of ATLA, and does not belong in Iroh's mouth. The idea that a teenage girl is so irredeemable that she is to be completely forsaken while so many other characters change and redeem themselves throughout the series is ridiculous.

Is
EVIL

>later that season zuko tries to get along with azula and betrays the heroes
>azula then seduces i mean blackmails zuko
>zuko breaks off from azula and once again helps the heroes
>returns to iroh in tears
>>
>>153263666
To be fair I think for Azula.to get a chance of being redeemed, she needs to be toroughly defeated, much like Zuko she has too much pride to stop coping no matter her circumstances
>>
>>153263666
>The idea that a teenage girl is so irredeemable
She's legit batshit insane and needs to be put down
>>
>>153263737
No, she a victim of poor parenting, but could still be taught to be better than she is.
>>
>>153263666
Iroh used to run a genocide campaign.
I think he knows evil when he sees it.
>>
>>153263666
Iroh is literally brothers with the heartless bastard that is Ozai I'm pretty sure he knows what he's talking about when he says Azula needs to be taken down.
>>
>>153263666
Reminder that at the end of season 1 Iroh convinced a teenage girl to take her own life so that everyone else could be happy.
>>
>>153263772
>she a victim of poor parenting
Poor parenting doesn't give you psychotic visions
>>
>NOOOOO ZUKO YOU HAVE TO KILL AZULA ITS THE ONLY WAY
>AZULA IS AN INSANE IRREDEEMABLE MONSTER THAT MUST BE PUT DOWN
>SURE I MAYBE DONE A GENOCIDE OR TWO WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND MELLOWED OUT
>BUT AZULA HAS...UH...
>BEEN KINDA MEAN TO HER FRIENDS AND SCARY AND STUFF I GUESS
>SHUTUP AND JUST KILL HER OKAY
>>
>>153263666
The only problem is that Zuko misunderstood Iroh. He thought he meant that Azula was insane and needed to be stopped, when all his dear uncle meant was that Azula is into incest and therefore needs to go down on her brother.
>>
Its less that he thinks she's utterly irredeemable and more that she's incredibly dangerous and neither of them were in any position to even begin sorting out that mess in the middle of a war.

Azula's psychotic breakdown was triggered by paranoia, stress, and anxiety from the combination of her upcoming promotion to Fire Lord while Mei and Ty Lee betray her. The two betraying her disrupts her entire worldview of how to influence others, which is something she would have developed in her younger years through her experiences as a child. Unlike Zuko, Azula was taught through the stick, and the lessons she learned by having those methods imposed on her is what got her to think fear and intimidation are what she needs to lead and rule over others.

We're so used to shows like this not being allowed to say 'kill' that we're putting words in Iroh's mouth
he genuinely meant that she needs to be taken down a peg or sixteen. Her father is a psycho who is making her his next godking successor. He himself was a psycho raised by his grandfather. The cycle has to stop, and it won't stop by 'trying to get along' any more than it would with any dictator.

she's a grown woman.. it's very very hard by this point.

>she's a grown woman.. it's very very hard by this point.
She's not a grown woman, she's 14 at the start of book 2.
>>
>>153264040
Yes it does, especially if you were sexually abused

fpbp, Iroh not being a simp is one of his best qualities.

>attacking a group of very straightforward, open enemies of your country, that your country has been fighting for 100 years, and who are the single greatest threat to your country's war effort and plotting to take down your father the king
>attacking three open traitors, two on the direct orders of your father, the king
>threatening a handful of subordinates as the crown princess of your nation
>omg so heckin evil, literally worse than genocide, true insanity

The tea shop arc would have been a better place to put surprisingly ruthless Iroh joke
>>
How come no one ever brings up Azula's daddy issues and how everything she does is all to please her father?
>>
>>153263666
Fuck zutara, zuko should be married with azula. I mean they put lesbians on the show now, So what's wrong with one incest?
>>
>>153263666
Azula is more fun when she's evil and the story didn't make any attempt to develop her beyond that until it was too late and it always felt really forced and half baked as a result. Probably a lot of things about Iroh that make no sense or seem sketchy if you think about it too much but you shouldn't do that for a children's cartoon.
>>
>>153264372
Thank you for being sane, anon. It's not about 'redeemability,' Azula has just demonstrated that she is a clear physical threat to Zuko and he needs to be ready to defeat her. I'm sure OP understands that, this is just a ridiculous bait thread.

I do see some people voice this sentiment, but anyone genuinely pushing the uwu victim Azula narrative is probably not the type to post here.

>>153264701
and?
She's literally the ruler of a country. She's fully grown both mentally and physically. In any setting other than the last 100-ish years in America, she would be considered an adult. And more to the point, even a subadult adolescent is still extremely hard to train in morals. Training must be done in childhood, ideally toddlerhood.

What do you think stories are?
Why do you think villains becoming good after a major trial or crawling through hell to earn their redemption is so well liked and thet become fan favorites when done well?

She is unironically an evil cunt, and because of how gynocentric, because the stories are made by bad people she can never go through that trial or really see punishment.

They didnt even have aang sealing azulas bending and stripping her of her royal birthright. Its a failure.

She will always be the Asuka. The cunty characters bpd chicks and cucks like.

>My gf turned into the moon recently

>but I think waterbenders were happier to get the moon back than I was to lose my gf
>the total happiness in the north pole increased
>...that's rough buddy
>>
>>153263772
fuck off, she was born a psychopath, her father merely used that to his advantage
>>
>>153263666
He had his hands full tard wrangling Zuko for 3 years, who didn't flip until the third book. There was no way he could turn Azula.
>>
>>153265546
Are you out of your fucking mind? You are not physically grown at 14 and you're sure as fuck not mentally mature by then. You're barely even through puberty at that point. As well as her own psychosis, her body's chemistry is totally fucked with her hormones at that point.
>>
>>153263666
>she is to be completely forsaken
That's not what he says.

There's just no reasoning Azula out of her current position. No connecting to her while she's high off of her daddy's twisted love and her new seat of power. She just needs to be beaten into the dirt so that she stops lashing out at people long enough to actually have to listen to them.
>>
If the show tried to take any steps to redeem Azula there'd be just as many people complaining "she's obviously crazy, why bother?"
>>
>>153264038
Stone cold.

Bro, there are some people who are unfortunately born with their brains crosswired
It's called sociopathy and psychopathy
