It's never a good sign when half the comments are from people who worked on the pilot instead of actual viewers. The pilot itself barely conveyed anything about the plot/premise of the show besides how much the gay rookie wants to fuck the commander. The awkward peppy upstart and grizzled grouchy mentor dynamic has been done to death and they presented nothing that livens it up or makes their take memorable, and they go through the effort of introducing the girl character just for her to have the same personality beats as the main character, except I guess less restrained? It's better for a pilot to be bad than boring. In 5 minutes I will completely forget this exists.

Benny Dingo was just edgeless, aimless slop that wants to be a love letter to 90s Warner Bros. animation, but all the Spielberg toon cynicism, snark and irony towards the tropes of moral value in cartoons at the time went over the creator's head. There's something to be said about repurposing a child inappropriate character for a young audience, passionately defending the artistic decision by taking a stand against puritan censorship and social conventions, only to use them for a comfort cartoon as sanitized, defanged, rule compliant and nothingburger as Baby Looney Tunes. People who think using an inflation rape dingo is cool don't want to watch a by-the-numbers kids romp where they learn unironic friendship morals about teamwork and baking cookies played entirely straight, and people who don't think using an inflation rape dingo is cool won't watch the show because he put an inflation rape dingo in it and publicly brags about it on social media.

It's funny that in the golden age of indie cartoons, with total raw creative freedom unimpeded by corporate execs, these artists can't tell an interesting story to save their lives and still create generic cliche products like they have some jew with a chart over their shoulder. Dana Terrace escapes the clutches of Gisnep just to make the exact style of cartoon she already made under them when given total control of her own work. I cannot believe I'm saying this but Benny Dingo is so retarded it's actually a case in favor of focus testing since it would've made Cameron think about a target audience for a second instead of defaulting to an autistic cartoon feature checklist + whatever garbage he masturbates to tacked on.
